It probably is referencing to the way that Gordon is being controlled by the G-Man and does not have complete control over his actions.

Half life also appears in the novel Ubik by Philip K. Dick. It describes a strange semi-alive/semi-dead phase. Gordon is kept in stasis between 1&2. In the book the protagonist finds himself in half-life and his boss tries to reach him from the outside world bz appearing in the strangest places. Kinda like G-Man.

I actually recently noticed this ingame myself, i was messing around with the commentary nodes when i saw one behind that tank. And i activated it and just as i did that, i saw the computer screen.

If you listen to that commentary node, someone says that there was a lot of half life references in the first season of lost, and that Gabe N told the creator of lost that they'd have a reference in episode two. And it's just not the screen, in the same small rooms wall you can see the derma logo.
