  • Yeah you rite!!

  • My granddad's people from Port Sulphur, LA. Free Jacks is one of the phrases I recall

  • America is f'd up. This race sht is bizarre and disgusting. I feel sorry for blacks who have to bear this a double burden - first the fact they were raped of culture and had to produce these mules and second, the fact they now have to two enemies there (the original white oppressors and these wannabe whites). It's really sad.

  • why are they so delusional? whites don't like them any more than using them as buffers between themselves and the blacks that are there. if whites really liked them, they would be white. meaning whites would have claimed them instead of discarding them after they knocked up black women and leaving them to form their own communties. the very reason they exist as a 'group' is because whites disowned them but because of anti black racism, they didn't want to be black.

  • @woxihuanshu Don't let this video fool you. I would say that the majority of mixed race creoles do not think this way. There are some delusional mixed raced one who have severe inferiority complexes but not the majority.

  • @sambo861 That is true...but there are groups of some creoles of color who do still think this way. It is a relic of the past for the most part though.

  • @woxihuanshu because of what he says at 2:33. In some states if a hispanic does not have an accent, they are ok. If they have an accent, they are not. Racism is like black people, it comes in many different shades. Some are more threatened by nationality, language, color, or manner of dress. In Texas some whites feel that blacks are okay as long as they arent N*ggers. Explain that! The saying there is "there are N*ggers and there are blacks." Just "ACT WHITE". Is enough for some. i jus laugh.

  • The guy at 2:04 speaks French like he has very low i.q.

  • My Fathers Dad was a dark creole with very fine hair his mother was lightskin who didnt speak english im light brown my children is very light skin

  • This is so said im ashamed to be from BURAS.

  • /my family is from here and its not like that we do seprate but we all get along!

  • who's completely anything...check your dna...you'd be surprised!

  • what is then mixed but mulatto when a person is mixed with black and whit the person is a mulatto

  • what is then mixed but mulatto

  • @sambo861 I realize that these comments are old, but did you ever consider another explanation for these soi-disants problematic negros, like, I don't know, social economic status, poverty, etc? And did you ever consider how these blacks ended up where they are? It has nothing to do with race. The fact is, where there's poverty there's crime. Je suis vraiment fatigue du racisme,

  • kids should be taught open-mindness in school and about the dangers of being immoral, illegal and intolerant of other cultures.

  • I'm Creole and seeing this shit is crazy. We should not have to pass anymore because these days were in the past!

  • my mom was light skinned with red hair. Born and raised in New Orleans. She was the lightest 1 of all her sisters and brothers. Her dad looked mixed to me, but she denied any white or creol blood. When I briefly lived in Miami people would always ask if I spoke french. So I asked a hatian man why he thought I spoke french. He said I look Creole. What does Creole look like now anyway after all tjhis time? I always wondered why my mom acted that way. Anyway I wish I did know french...

  • @SharonDuke1 me 2 im creole on both sides of my fam my gramma is red or light skinned and she speaks french i dnt but im gunna learn

  • wow this has me excited this is my ppl even father alvin is on here

  • for the record, judge perez did have black blood in him

  • THAT'S ME AND MY SISTER ON THE MERRY-GO-ROUND IN THE BEGINNING.....AND MY COUSINS!

  • dude i lived in louisiana all my life and i know for every white man that dont like black people theres 3 black people in there place that dont like white people. i live in georgia now and i realize that not all black people are like the black people that live in louisiana. they hate white people and talk about slavry and all the things we did bad to them, bring me one person that was a slave. you cant why, cause there are none that are living. so if u have never been to louisiana dont comment

  • @lilworm147 Well, blacks just received rights in the 1970's. So, you have to remember, that although our parents didn't experience chattel slavery, they still lived through horrible experiences as second class citizens. They were treated like dogs. It's really foolish of you to think that some blacks still don't have some resentment after being treated like shit just a few years ago in the 70's.

  • @sambo861 yea ok i see what you mean, but like i said we dont owe them nothing, cause like i said they dont like white people. not all white people wanted them to be in diff schools, stores, ect. but they still act like today that they are being discriminated aganst. its hard to like someone that dont like you. not to say its not bad what white people did to them, but thats been gone for 40 years. they need to live in today. we now have to live with there hoods killing all innocent races

  • @lilworm147 Huh? Okay, but why do those hoods exists? Ever heard of the cycle of poverty? Please, research it. Furthermore, BLACKS ARE STILL BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST. I WOULD KNOW AS I AM BLACK. Racism is still alive, and that ridiculous comment just shows how NAIVE you are. When you don't experience racism, you don't believe it exists. WELL, IT DOES. And whites don't have to put up with people in hoods because they tend to live completely isolated from any black ghettos. So, that's bullshit.

  • @sambo861 look i no black people are being discriminated aganst, but look at my first comment. black people hate us just as much. ride through a hood in louisiana 99% black. white people rape and kill people too, dont get me wrong. go to court though, and count the ammount of black people to white people. then u can tell me if u think most of our problems dont come from black people

  • @lilworm147 Well, it's typical for lower classes to have higher crime rates. That's not dependent on race. Go to any country in the world, and you will have the same problem. It just so happens because of America's history that blacks and latinos tend to make up larger part of the lower social class.

  • @sambo861 also in america everyone has the same ability to get out of poverty. i am a prime example. im not a racist im a realist. i went to a 90% black school growing up. i no about black and white people. dont get me wrong its the white ones u have to watch out for but there are more blacks that dont like white people then white people who dont like blacks. tbh we let this thing get off topic my original comment was to state black people cant expect us to like someone who dont like us.

  • @lilworm147

    >in america everyone has the same ability to get out of poverty.

Yeah, colorism and the glass ceiling show that's wrong right there. Not to mention white proviledge et all as shown in the video.

  • @lilworm147 And innocent races? What the fuck does that mean? How can a race be innocent?

  • @sambo861 i mean most gangs are black people in america, and they all hate white people unless they buy crack from them

  • @lilworm147 Nah, that's not true. I don't think you really know black people very well. You just know how to generalize and stereotype. I could say the same for white people. All whites hate blacks. (but I am smart enough to know that's not true) but hey, you're immature. I shouldn't expect much from you.

  • @lilworm147 Furthermore, there are tons of white gangs that hate blacks and latinos. From my experience, whites tend to be the most outspoken for their hate for Latinos and Muslims not Blacks.

  • @sambo861 Does the KKK sell crack?

  • @malfini1 Well, they sell false hope to a bunch of people who scapegoat all their problems. That's probably worst than crack. Furthermore, the kkk probably is involved in some type of narcotics/illegal activity. They just don't get very much publicity nowadays. Also, blacks don't sell crack. Drug dealers who may happen to be black/latino/white sell crack. Trust me, I've had white drug dealers come up to me, especially at bars and clubs.

  • @malfini1 Yep.

  • @malfini1 im sure they do, but as far as im concerned everyone i no goes to the hood to buy crack. go through a hood in louisiana 99% black people. remember im talking about louisiana here not the rest of the world

  • Exactly thats why under neath the context of white supremacy creoles( hybrids) are NOT TO BE TRUSTED. Their loyalties fall with what ever the power structure is. During the Haitian revolution hybrids sided with BLACK POWER

  • That's My People!!!! :D Fuck dem haters!!!! :]

  • The guy at 2:01 is a fucking delusional moron. He's also delusional if he thinks that the whites and "creoles" (which can be any race) were best buds at this time.

  • 2:01 - WHOOPS!!!! BLACKS GON GET HIM!!!

  • judge perez was the best thing to hapen to Plaquemines Parish ever!!!!!!!

  • @sjCheramie ayy tu equivocao!!!... you can't be serious... please tell me your joking???...

  • @sjCheramie Are you serious! You are wrong! How could he be the best thing that ever happened?? I hope you are joking!

  • As far as Im concerned most people of creole descent consider themselves to be African-American or Black. Beyonce's mother is Creole and she considers herself to be black.

  • @waydoryu12 There are still many Creoles who don't consider themselves black

  • @waydoryu12 Socially and politically we are black. There is no balance when one part of your race is socially at the top and the other at the bottom. But Creoles and black Americans don't have the same history but a lot of things in common. Also I've been hearing a lot of blacks say they don't like the term African American.

  • @LuV4RoBnFaB Man these so-called creoles are confused. Research the word creole. The term originally referred to whites born in the Americas not to mulattos or other mixed people. So this whole idea that if you happen to speak French creole you are a 'creole' is ridiculous. What I see here is a bunch of people trying to hold on to an identity that somehow 'elevates' them in their minds. That way they can be something other than Black. I am refering to the lack and mixed ones of course!

  • @malfini1 Some think Creole is a race and some just identify as black. I hate the word Mulatto! The unique culture is Louisiana Creole. But of course to these racists they see us all the same. But black in Africa is different than black in America. If you look mixed then you're considered "colored."

  • @malfini1 Cre·ole [kree-ohl] Show IPA

    noun

    1.

a person born in the West Indies or Spanish America but of European, usually Spanish, ancestry.

    2.

a person born in Louisiana but of usually French ancestry.

    3.

( sometimes lowercase ) a person of mixed black and European, especially French or Spanish, ancestry who speaks a creolized form of French or Spanish.

Know what you speak of darling. Creole history is mixed. what you speak of is Arcadian descendants aka Cajuns.

  • @waydoryu12 Maybe that's because her father is a black guy.

  • 4:17 - who's being interviewed?

  • my dude I come from the same shit... some of my family is still stuck on the bullshit and think their better than everybody else but I don't agree with them on that shit... if the rest of my fam wanna live as punk ass white people then hell they can do them BUT I REFUSE TO BE LIKE THAT... MY ASS AIN'T WHITE AND I AIN'T COLOR STRUCK LIKE THE REST OF MY FAM... SO IT IS WHAT DA FUCK IT IS...

  • @nnnnnsssssssssllllln Just an example of the negative affects of Multiculturalism. Look how the South African Coloreds view the black Africans. They even reject mixed folks with a black father! They honor the white man who made them!

  • @LuV4RoBnFaB I know right it's so sad and pathetic... but fortunantely I'm not the racist type like them and I choose not to be like them.... I wish everybody could get together and squash the whole color thing and we can all be family...

  • Man fuck all Creoles who don't identify with black b/c if u had no black in u then u wouldn't be considered creole u would just b another one of those sad ass Cajun ass CRACKER

  • @mobfiggak1 lol tru dat

  • My family is from Plaquemines Parish on my fathers side. I have never been but one day I want to see where I came from! Anyone in Plaquemines know of the Handy Family?

  • @rhandy99 I went to school in New Orleans with a girl with the last name Handy.

  • back in those days if you could pass it would have been in your best interest... if life as a black(AA) still today kinda hard today.... imagine what it would have been like in 100 yrs ago....... creoles dont want to be white or black... the simply just want to be known as creole....... so I dont pass judgement on anyone... each person has a right to live they want to....

  • you guys have to see and look at it in all aspects.... from the begining creoles have practiced this system and way of life for generations(dating all the way back to even haiti)....

  • I never realized how racist the Louisiana Creole's were, I find it interesting because African is apart of their heritage, so its sort of like Self-Hatred?

  • first of all you have to realize that there are over $500,000 (self-itentified) Louisiana Creoles Throughout the U.S. and just as African Americans show racism towards whites and themselves (i.e. ..that n***a black as hell) and other comments like that doesn't mean anything. You've heard one man's opinion. Secondly, not all Louisiana Creoles have African Ancestry. It's a culture, some LA Creoles are "all white"

  • Okay, sorry about that. ;-P

  • @CreolePriteeBoi some creoles are black...Creole is a vague cultural term for people who were born in the New World in colonial times regardless of their racial heritage. Louisiana creoles have traditionally come in three flavors: white, black, and mixed. The folks in this documentary are mixed and white - including Judge Perez and his family.

  • @FlatulenceFox no, we can be politically correct, but Creoles have always been the term for mixed-race people from those areas, thats how also they distinguished themselves from the Black slave population. However Creole means also immigrant from Haiti in Lousiana, so yes, some Creoles are Black

  • @Rockstafeller nothing to do with politically correct, it is about being historically correct. You might want to check out the etymology of the word starting with the the original Spanish word "criollo." The term creole has come to have many meanings, not just in this country and the Americas, but all around the world. But originally it did refer to any person - of white European, black African, or mixed - who was born in the Americas.

    Just giving the history.

  • @FlatulenceFox thats what i said

and this video is about Louisiana, America, so no need to 'give me history' ;)

  • @FlatulenceFox and i wrote politically correct, because people often ridicule Creoles, saying come on you're just Black, I know a Creole and he's the darkest he can be

  • @FlatulenceFox and the term also applies to French Caucasian folks who settled in Louisiana, but Creoles indigineous to the area are mixed-race

  • @Rockstafeller as far as Louisiana Creoles go, specifically those of mixed heritage or gens de couleur, they are of course one of the groups that has embraced the term and have made it their own and rightfully so. And, yes, you are right Creoles are black and white like the Perez family featured in this documentary.

And don't forget a huge number of mixed creoles emigrated from Haiti after the Revolution in 1803. So not all of them are originally from Lousiana.

  • @FlatulenceFox LOL! so called Creoles emigrated from Haiti after the revolution in 1804! Also a huge influx of people from Cuba and Haiti and even French and Spanish colonies! Many emigrated St Domingue(now Haiti) and Cuba from between 1791 to 1815! Louisiana was not annexed to the USA until 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase!

  • @chsn09 Thanks for the recap on the history lesson. Knew that already.

  • @FlatulenceFox Well your quite welcome and you presented some inaccurate information and the correction bug bit me so I just had to correct you! LMFAO! But no problem! You might have just made a mistake! Well at least you know your shit unlike some ignorant fools on YT!

  • @chsn09 And actually my original comments were not inaccurate. The point I was highlighting is that the term "creole" DOES NOT have a set definition. Folks like mine from Louisiana have one a there on interpretation, other folks around the Caribbean have their own, those from the former French, Spanish, and Portuguese colonies around the world have their own definition of creole. Eg., Cape Verdean Creole, Mauritian Creole, Trinidadian Creole, etc...

  • @FlatulenceFox Some of your previous/original comments were inaccurate! Like you mentioned a revolution of Haiti being in 1803, BUT it was 1804! Although you kljust brought up a point! Creole has the same implications from most places and colonies and European powers! Creole comes from the word "criado" which means raised so thus the people were born and/or raised in the colony or within the entity subject to the European power/mother country/colony etc!

  • @chsn09 technically the Haitian Revolution ran somewhat parallel to the French Revolution. There were conflicts that started as early as 1790 and it did culminate and finally end in 1804. It was a long struggle.

And actually the origin of creole is from the Spanish word "criollo."

  • @FlatulenceFox

The terme creole is derived from the Portuguese word "crioulo". The Spanish borrowed the term from the Portuguese and it became "Criollo", both come from the Latin word or verb rather "criare" meaning to "nourrish" or to "raise".. It was initially applied to White children born and raised in the colonies.

  • @FlatulenceFox

The term was subsequently used to refer to the Black population and they were called 'creoles of color". Some historians have pointed out that anything that came from the colonies was referred to as "créole" such as plants, animals, people etc

  • @FlatulenceFox

However, you are not wrong, in that some scholars say it was the other way around, meaning the Portuguese borrowed the term from the Spanish. Some indecisive scholars say that it is either Spanish or Portuguese lol. A lot of uncertainty surrounding the origin of this term...I will just go with the Portuguese theory

  • @FlatulenceFox Well the French Revolution began in July 1789 with the "Stroming Of The Bastille"! 1791 was a year that had big gains for the slave and population of color and it was in 1804 that that struggle for freedom and revolution became even more triumphant. Creole is also believed to have derived from Portuguese

  • @FlatulenceFox Creole also refers to language or cuisine, food, music, ethnicity, hybridity, mixed, blended, fusion etc! It can also mean a person of color who adapts European ways! Creole in most and all places is an expansion and extension of the same implications but at the same time may and can pertain to different factions!

  • @FlatulenceFox Oh, I also meant to mention that term Creole also is and can be a cultural identity and cultural traits and even a sense of ethnicity in addition to traditions abd customs and regionalism and ancestry and things adhesed and absorbed into that entity or faction!

  • @chsn09

    Salut frangin

I haven't heard of the "criado" theory

  • @AholouDemesse The "criado" theory is just an example to show the essence and implications of the word now known as creole etc!

  • @chsn09

    Right on!!

  • @AholouDemesse oui, d'accord! Check out thé Too White To Be Black Too Black To Be White Video! It deals on racial complexities of the Louisiana Creoles

  • Comment removed

  • @CreolePriteeBoi honey creoles are only known in LA and that's it..yall guys don't exist outside of LA and that's the truth.somebody like Bush and Rush would Laugh at yall creoles cause in there eyes yall creoles are DARK AS HELL

  • @TheMonroeTwins That's an interesting theory. It's not true. But interesting to state that Creoles are an L.A. creation. My family like a whole lot of other Louisiana families migrated to the L.A. area back in the 1930s & 40s, & so did many of their creole neighbors. Although you are correct to point out that in the end racist whites still regard creoles with the same contempt as any other black person, as you can see from this documentary, if you watched it, they can also exploit it too.

  • @FlatulenceFox they did, but so what, Creoles refused to ignore their multiracial ancestry regardless even though many AAs at that time did and that was the correct thing to do

  • @FlatulenceFox Are ou a Louisiana Creole?

  • @chsn09 My mother's family has a French last name but I don't consider myself one. And even though I have members of my family who do consider themselves Creole - mostly cousins, I never have really embraced the term to describe myself.

Plus I would never pass the brown bag test.

  • @FlatulenceFox Well you do not have to have a French surname to be a Louisiana Creole! There are plenty of LA Creoles with Spanish and even English last names who identify themselves as Creoles! Then what are you? Are you Cuban or Haitian or Spanish or Canarian or Guadelupean or Martinician or something lol? Um you do not gave to pass a brown paper bag test to qualify or pass as a Creole today!? WTF?

  • @chsn09 I am African American and I will embrace that identity until the day I die.

Most Louisiana Creoles have French last names, but you right there are lots of them with last names that are of Spanish, Anglo, Irish, and other origins.

And, even though the brown paper bag comment was done tongue in cheek, you would might be surprised how many people are still stuck on the complexion issue. WTF is appropriate in that case.

  • @FlatulenceFox Well you can call yourself Creole if you want to! But that is interesting! So you consider yourself an AA! That is cool! Yeah I know there are still sone crazy ass color struck Louisiana Creoles out there! What do you mean it was done tongue and cheek? Lol! Yeah the colorism thing is ridiculous! It is almost as if Creoles live in their own pigmentocratic society at times! SMFH! But hey, "to each his own"! ¿Do you speak French and/or creole?

  • @chsn09 Well I am from L.A. and it is possible that the colorism got somewhat amplified when folks started moving out here. Even when I was growing up I had more than a few friends who actually tell me that if they dated a girl who was "too dark" their parents wouldn't approve. This was in the 80s & 90s!!!!

But not all Creoles are like that. And I really don't have a big problem if they feel they are preserving their culture and history. I can deal with that.

  • @FlatulenceFox Same I have some family members who are into that colorism shit! Yeah if people want to do that colorism shit then let them be! It is no different than a person who likes dark meat! Go for the white meat lol! I can deal with that! But they should at least have an equal treatment and respect for individuals of all colors, regardless, and respectively! This type of thing exists in all cultures and communities everywhere! Hopefully things are changing for the better!

  • Pt 2- aaakk82- Yes white racist people has us pegged, even today, because they know that all we need is a pat on the back from them, and we will snub our own people, or certain parts of our heritage with a quickness.

  • turkey shoot at my old school st jude hahaha

  • It's amazing how some of these creoles have the nerve to feel that they are better than blacks. Especially considering the fact that their backgrounds involve slavery, rape, and discrimination as well. Plus from looking at where they are and how they live, they don't qualify too snub anyone anyway. It's a known fact that in modern Louisiana that it's mostly the whites who are the ones who are rich. So they need to STFU with this "We're better than blacks" BS.

  • its the cajuns that were considered porr white trash because they were driven out of canada and settled along the mississippi river valley. its true if you do your research on the heritage of the state. im from eunice, la. and my family has both cajun and creole heritage. we also have strong ties to the reservation. they we're considered better than blacks because they could afford to do things like buy their own freedom, as the other didn't. but thats just fact, not opinion.

  • Pt- @aaakk82- Ok and I'm not saying that all creoles have that "I'm better than black" attitude. BUT, you proved my point, when you said that creoles could "buy their own freedom". The fact that creoles were slaves in the first place proves that they weren't considered better. They were just brainwashed by whites into "thinking" that they were better, to make us as black and brown people, more against each other.

  • As humans we cant Not stand in judgement to whom our parents decided to bear children with. As a proud angaus creole, mauritius kreole' and le cajun madame. My ancestry dates back to the colonization,,There are many types of creoles/kreoles..Pecking order started in anglo-europe to distingush who was superior than whom..thats all!

  • for instance, in the USA, we call the female Hemp plant marijuana. But the word Marijuana is Mexican slang for the plant, it means Mary Jane, but since Mexico is close to the USA, and the plant came to us from there, that name stuck, and we pronounce it mer-ree-wan-nah, but mexicans pronounce it mah-di-hooahn-nah....same thing w/ the criollo thing

  • Spain and Portugal are neighboring countries, they steal and borrow words all the time from each other...

for instance, the main porguese curse word is CARAJO pronounced ca-ra-joe!

but spanish people borrowed that word and pronounce it ca-ra-hoe...same thing with criollo, they just borrowed the word. but the correct way to say criollo in spanish language is CRIADO, trust me on this one! Im very educated in this field hahaha but im serious!

  • As I read these comments from..these ill- educated morons. Im very proud to be a decendent of the early French settles. My late grandmama was creole',my late grandpapa was mauritius kreole and late paternal grandpapa was le'cajun. Im very aware of the past,,if you bore mixed features, hair, eye colour,.I consider it an honor to have learned many languages, history, traditions. Im very proud of my late grandparents, We are proud people like the amish. It was afro-americans who shunned us.!

  • In the anglosized world, angloblacks were called house niggas, versus the pureblack which was known as the field nigga, also in anglo america, octoroon quadroon etc.... were known as terms to identify and separate back then which in today terms are known as light skin or high yella, ala redbone yellow bone on and on, out side of what was known as the french louisianna they had a one drop rule one drop and your still a nigga, creoles seem to be very confused, i say be what makes you happy though.

  • this shit is so sad and i kno about all of this b/c im from New Orleans....these creoles now r just as broke as the black ppl...some still own a little property, politicians, and business ppl but they dont have what they used to b/c all the white folks got the fuck out and took everything with them and left yo"half-coon" ass back in the THE N.O. so u can rott with the rest of us niggas

  • @mobfiggak1 are creoles mostly in LA? and all they rasicts?

  • @mobfiggak1 They are black people can't you see?

  • @mobfiggak1 You're an idiot.

  • Judge Perez just said that blacks r immoral so if u r half black then what did he think about you...the white man uses creoles and mullatto's to help push racism just so they can get a little acceptance and turn their back on the black side who will give the unconditional luv....this shit been going on since the ancient egyptians

  • @mobfiggak1 You must have read the book The Destruction of Black Civilization. Some ignorant folks call the author anti-Mulatto!

  • just in history mulattoes have chosen to discriminate against the black ppl b/c they wanted the special treatment from their white bretheren, the brother in the video even stated that at 1:50

  • Creoles stick to whites and turn their back on blacks with the mind frame of thinking that they will b treated equal but the idea is that do u think a cracker is gonna give ur mullatto ass more than what he gives his full blooded kids...so u turn ur back on africans for"the crumbs on the table"....its fuckin sad

  • thank god i am not a of french decent, they the french are the joke of europe, those rude bastards, these people seem to be proud to be french, thats like being proud of being a coward.

  • He is not a biggot. Blacks in the south are mostly immoral idiots. Come down here and see.

  • that's pretty rude and unnecessary.

  • Judge Leander Perez was a bigot, and if you are from this area you know it to be true.

  • You have left the first truly ignorant post here. Congratulations idiot.

  • Yeah I wouldn't know. I have only lived down here my entire life and had to deal with these folks. You are entitled to your opinion though.

  • ghostofjackie, great another racist, trailer trash idiot on youtube. Why is that white people can enslave people, destroy entire civilizations and cultures, oppress people 100's of years and expect to be showered with rose petals when they find that the people the fucked up the ass are still a little bitter about it? Please, learn something.you would know why things are the way they are.well, trailer trash like you probably can barely read, so nevermind. Keep saying racist stuff, you're worthless

  • fuck u bitch

  • ahahaha some people are idiots...ok let me explain to you people, the word creole, creole come from Portugal, the word means "raised" in portugues. it was used to distinguish People who were raised in portugal, from people of portugal decent raised in the new world (latin america), in thier language the word is criollo, if you were a criollo, you weren't respected as much as a full fledge person from portugez..it meant you may have been mixed with poeple of the new world like indians or blacks

  • No "criollo" is Spanish, not Portuguese, both the Portuguese and the Spanish invented the word to refer to the people in their colonies in Latin America...in Portuguese its spelt "crioulo".

  • negative!

hence the spanish spelling of it Criollo, comes from portuguese word Crioulo = raised. the correct spanish word for criollo is CRIADO, but since the word is from Portugal, like I stated early, they spanish use criollo, get it?

even in america they say Creole, it comes for portugal, it means raised (out side of Europe) and it was used to distinguish the Europeans from native born in the new world.

  • * i ment to say the correct spanish word for raised is CRIADO, but since the Portugal one was used first to distinguish Europeans from European-latin americans it just stuck, and the spanish began to use it, but pronounced it criollo.

  • ppl in New Orleans n in Palquemines speak broken French!

  • Comment removed

  • Creole is creole color doesnt matter

  • By the way if anybody you should talk about as hating blacks it should be them "black Hebrew Israelites"! I've seen the hatred they show of Africa and black women. At least Creoles acknowledge their African ancestry!

  • It's funny how the dark skin people never put their own on blast when they prejudge ALL light skin people and think that's cool. This prejudice went both ways. And I'm sick of discussing this topic so don't nobody comment to me anymore here and if you come on my videos hating you will be blocked!

  • I'm a light skinned Lousiana creole just like Tina Knowles(Beyonces Mom) and Beyonce too!!!

  • ''les creoles et les blancs, c'est magnifique'', damn, i can't stand folks like this. ignorant bastard.

  • he's just stating that the creole communities and the white communities tend to get along in this area

  • He's pretty old school.

  • What is the priest talking about, these Creoles are the typical black, white, indian mix. The creoles in this video are not white and indian.

  • i think perhaps it is because they were more privileged in the past than their darker skinned cousins. i can see it in my own family, especially with the older generations. the darker kids were treated differently, and held to a lower standard. it makes me sick to think about it. i had a great aunt who refused to go to her daughter's wedding because she thought the man her daughter was marrying was too dark. i hope this madness ends soon.

  • Y'all should check out Colonial Africans in LA; Afro Crole Culture by Gwendolyn Mildo Hall. The Creole culture and the slave culture are one in the same. The French enslaved the Africans.

  • Louisiana Creoles by Andrew Jolivette is the best book on Creoles. He covers the Native American influence on the Creole culture which had been ignored. The middle class free people of color or Creoles of color were a separate group from blacks and whites and some became wealthy. Also Whites were not the only ones who participated in slavery.

  • The term Creole was first applied to the children born of Africans in LA,.

  • LISTEN There is no such thing as a white creole so how can you describe us as creole's of color all creole's are black people im a creole man from south west Louisiana if you want the truth about creole's ask a creole not these wanna be white uncle tom's talking about creole's and blacks dont get along THAT'S Straight bullshit creole's are black people with a rich french culture that's as simple as i can put it "Creole Pride!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • The term Creole was originally applied to native borns in Louisiana and Creoles of color was used to distinguish between those native born and then mixed race. One group in Louisiana used the term to describe offspring of unions between white men and women of color. See the segment "Creole Poems" on the PBS show "History Dectectives". I just watched it earlier today, that's where I got my information.

  • actually, it was first used to describe those children of europeans who were not born in europe, but in colonies abroad. it had nothing to do with louisiana originally, but was used later to describe those multiethnic descendants of french settlers. a charles beaudelaire poem called ''a une dame creole'' describes a creole woman as being pale in color, and possessing slaves.

  • So I've discovered. :)

  • Wrong, Wrong, Wrong...These White dictionaries You are Using are defining this Word to suite their own taste...It is well documented that the Word Creole is defined as a Native Born Slave from a parent of an Slave born in Africa.."Creole" in Portuguese means "to Create"..You obviously know nothing about Creole People nor their Culture.Yes their are White and Black Creoles but the term Creoles ORIGINALLY applied to the Creole Slave Born in the new World.Lets stop this cultural genocide

  • I appreciate Your explanation in French,However, Though Most Creoles have French Origins the term does not come from the French Speaking People.. The Word Creole by definition is base on the Portuguese and Spanish versions..To this date I know of no French Definition of this word......The White Aristocratic French from Louisiana adopted this word from the African Creole slaves but they were not the Originators of the word...a clarification in English would be appreciated

  • ok, i'll translate: ''really? is it so evident that i know nothing of the origin of the term? as it is, i did part of my studies in france at the university of lyon. so, the definition i give comes straight from the horses mouth. for your information, the whole of my mother's side of my family is of louisiana creole origin. for that reason i know how to speak french. do you? ''mr. creole'' himself?''

you are right, the origin is portuguese, however it was originally used for

  • Why is there such an argument over the origins of the word creole. Mr. Augustine is actually correct in his assertion that it was derived from the portueguese slave traders who used the word to denote a mixed race person or slave born away from the continent of Africa. Criollo means servant in the masters house, Mr. Comeaux is right, and where is your lousiana creole family from: mine comes from Cane River, and eventually moved on to east texas.

  • no, he's not, and neither are you. seriously. but, it's really not a big deal. i just don't like when people think they're right being all haughty about it, that's why i engaged said gentleman in the first place.

  • .... it was originally used by the portuguese to describe those of direct european ancestry born without, in other colonies. it was adopted by the french and used in such a manner, as described by our poet charles beaudelaire. it was not until later was it used to describe those of european and african ancestry. think whatever you want, but my sources are well documented, and can be provided.

  • You are basing all this on the writting of a French Poet ?..Well the legal definition says something totally different. Since "Creole in Portugese means to Create then how can the original Creoles be White European when they came as conquerers and brought no women along with them.stop believing this lie..You being Creole should know this...All my Ancestors are Louisiana Creoles and We are very Proud to be called Creoles so lets get the facts straight.... I'll be anticipating Your documentation

  • If your black stay back , if your brown stick around and if your white you're alright?!!?

And these are human beings doing this by the color of another human being skin! Sick sick sick!!! I'm creole with dark skin who look black but I'm mixed!!! Dumb ass people who discriminate by the color of someone skin!!! Mix people come in all shades!!!!

  • I'm half creole and i say fuck them i=I;m black...Fuck the crackers

  • my friend's great grandma was from Plaquemines parish and she spoke french, I also believe she was a creole too, she was in her 90's and died a few years ago actually

  • "The very fact that there are so many definitions of "creole" and so many people from around the globe from the Haiti, the USA, The Cape Verdes, the Seychelles, Mauritius , Guyana, Brazil, ect...who consider themselves creole says a lot about your criteria for who is and is not a creole." You're entitled to an opinion brother.. you obviously have trouble grasping this concept so just leave it alone..

  • "Creole is such a hodgepodge, agglomeration of people that the term itself is very ambiguous, imprecise, and where convenient, the definition of who is "creole" is ad hoc. " The term is only left to ambiguity for those who don't understand it: I assuming you're not from LA...
