  • Lol, the guy who voted for linux says so at 2:22. I think I've seen this episode like 3 times and thats the first time I've noticed that.

  • Open your heart, epic choice ;)!

  • Peter ... is he same dude from JForceGames ????

  • where is peter now?

  • damn i was pulling for Linux!

  • @sk8t3rforever Go and do it, man. The Internet is your gateway, though seriously look for a book on Object Oriented Programming (in general) before you really start learning a language. I recommend Java, though if you learn C++ first everything else will be easier from there.

  • Oi, Falco, what happened to Kendell in chapter 17?

  • Nice FF7 music :D

  • Great vids. subbed

  • Ive wacthed all of the videos on your channel. ive gottengood tips on where to start on game making.im kinda new to this and this really helped. and plus i subscribed

  • @CheesyBerger judging social status from personal interest is pretty lame. Period, mang.

  • I need more... when's the next video?

  • I could probably design you guys a kick ass website, I just can't do any of the PHP stuff.

  • @waypastthat

    W3Schools, my friend.

It's how I learn MySQL and PHP in a few days :)

A book is always better, though.

  • @Neso906

Thanks for the help. I already know of W3Schools, I just don't know PHP because I really don't take any interest in that sort of stuff any more.

  • looool

  • ROFL 8:51

  • dude people think that the psp being newer is better but i would have votted dreamcast

  • its really annoying to not have a level editor for my engine lol, now i have insight in how much it matters :P

  • you know what? for a moment there, I thought Peter would be voting for the celery port

  • Linux!! haha

  • I had been waiting for a new set of videos forever. The DC homebrew scene may be pretty limited now, but this project beats most everything we have had in the past. Keep up the good work!

  • Saw each and every one of the revolution videos, really glad you're back in business.

    Subscribed

  • We humbly appreciate it, bro.

    /bows deeply.

  • Haha, saw myself on youtube!

  • Omg, where at? I want to remember meeting you!

  • @GyroVorbis Oh you remember last night ;)

  • Make that two for Linux :P

  • Peter should have come in after Kendall and been like "WTF WHAT HAPPENED TO MY NEW PLATFORM FOR THE GAME !" Then Kendall should have walked in eating the celery. XD

  • Oh god, the game is gonna run on KendallOS too now?Boy oh boy, that`s gonna rock.

  • OMG.. new videos.

    Nice framework.

I've started my psp game 1 year ago, i stopped the project.. as you can see the last build on my channel.

Thanks a lot to inspire new people to dev everyday.

Nice framework, you´re doing a great job. using asm you just prove to the ignorant people that you´re using all your efforts.

    Thanks

  • Dreamcast FTW....

  • lol 3:55 . sorry peter! go linux lol.

  • I've never understood this project or the one before it.

Does this amount to anything? Is it just for videos on game development? Is there even an actual game?

  • @Clesarie wow man they say it in every episode at the beginning of it. that shows u dont even know there making a game at the least. or even on the dreamcast and psp.

  • I get that they are trying to make a game but, this kinda project has been going on for years. Is there any point or goal here? Or is it simply going to become a video documentary. I feel like more time is spent editing these videos than the code.

  • @Clesarie Yeah. 3 days editing a video is far more time than we spent creating an entire multiplatform framework to power an RPG, the underlying framework of the RPG, and a rigid body physics system for the RPG. I thank god every day that most people aren't as ignorant as you are, because we would have quite a few less subscribers if that were the case.

  • You're an idiot. Please don't make me have to actually point out how...=/

  • @Clesarie u idiot they haven't posted a video in 8 months. what are you talking about. they have completed there goal of creating a multi-platform library between psp, dreamcast, and pc.

  • haha...celery thief! :)

  • @Canonpixmalogitechko A game maker has a limited amount of stuff you can do. Building an engine, you have the freedom to do virtually whatever you want to your engines capability.

  • Then why make something that looks exactly the same as RPG maker? Seriously, look up Amaranth games, look up Laura Shigihara.

These people used RPG maker to make their games and they're fine. I'm just saying; the quality of a piece of work is in the time invested in it, not the tools used. All I said was if you spent that time drawing sprites, designing levels, making the music etc. instead of rewriting an engine; you'd have more to show for it.

  • Of couse you're right though, you can do anything you want when you write the engine yourself. So why not make something totally different (as opposed to something that looks like RPG Maker)? I'm trying to provide constructive criticism here. That is all.

  • @Canonpixmalogitechko Your constructive criticism as no basis, whatsoever, though. You're constructively criticizing an engine that isn't even completely done. What looks like RPG maker? You're walking around a 2D world? That's what EVERY RPG looks like. We haven't begun to implement any gameplay mechanics, battle system, or anything that would set this game apart (other than our technology) from other 2D RPGs. So save your comments until we're further along in development.

  • "you can do anything you want when you write the engine yourself. So why not make something totally different (as opposed to something that looks like RPG Maker)?"

He wants to make an rpg AND PASSIONATELY do low level programming at the same time. Theres no rpg maker for that ^_^

  • Yeah that's fine, and kinda cool. But they should mention that somewhere is all. I'm not ignorant, I'm just naieve.

  • I'm going to ignore this comment, because of your ignorance.

And yes, 3D zoom, scale, rotation, and hardware acceleration along with an embedded Lua interpreter and full rigid body system in Game Maker? Are you even trying to sound like you know what you're talking about?

Also, we haven't shown any gameplay whatsoever yet, so I'm not sure what you're judging anything by. Sprites walking around? That's the basis of any 2D RPG.

  • That's kind of an insult to the people that make "Aveyond" and everyone at Amaranth games (a company anyone who knows anything about the indie game community has heard of). Game Maker and RPG Maker are different things (not that it matters).

Laura Shigihara (the woman who did the music for Plants Vs Zombies) is currently making an RPG Maker game and its looks great.

  • Yes I was looking a the sprites walking around. But also the fact that you said it was going to be a "old school rpg" which RPG Maker was designed to build.

I'm guessing by your defensiveness, that this isn't the first time someone has mentioned this. No need to get your panties in a twist, I was just asking.

  • @Canonpixmalogitechko No, this isn't the first time that some ignorant guy, who knows nothing about game development, has compared our game to game maker, just because the two are 2D RPGs. Read my previous post. We haven't yet begun implementing anything. I wouldn't HAVE to get my panties in a twist if you knew what you were talking about before you decided to comment.

  • For christs sake man, I was just trying to help and you call me an ignorant idiot. I'm sure you'll go far with that attitude.

You undergrads are all the same, think they know everything.

  • @Canonpixmalogitechko You said in your own words "No I don't know anything about this project." THEN you expect us to take something you say seriously? I'm laughing right now.

  • Actually, before I posted and called you an "idiot," I checked your channel and saw that you were not subscribed. Had you been, I probably would have given you a nicer, more explanatory answer--but you're not, so I took you as being a hostile non-supporter.

Undergrads? I haven't even graduated highschool.

As for "trying to help," it's not quite our fault that your post came off as completely condescending.

  • Good god man, could you be any more wrong. You aren't bearrick or thenicelordj in disguise are you?????? Plus making a game in rpg maker isn't really anything to be proud of or show off because you didn't do it by yourself, but hey it's what all the other cool twelve year olds are doin.....

  • Yeah, Spelunky is nothing to be proud of, or Iji, or Cave Story.

  • Do you know anything about this project? They're not doing this just because they want to get it finished in a short period of time, they're doing it for the pleasure of making the game, they're doing all the low-level stuff becuase THEY WANT TO DO IT, and if something is harder to accomplish it means you can be more proud of doing it.

  • lol no I don't know anything about this project. I just saw it had good ratings so I thought I'd watch it. I read game development and thought it was a serious project where the developers were intending to sell the thing for a profit.

So you see why I said the things I said.

I'm in the wrong video, I'm sorry, I'll leave you guys to it :D

  • Haha, your comment made me crack up!

Especially because your comment is insinuating that this entire movie is NOT about the "fun of making a GAME" instead of a "boring old engine."

    Lulz.

  • Congratulations, you've won ass kiss of the year!

  • ...what?

  • dont even mind my last comment silly buns

1:47 hit me up again bro

  • And yet another smartass! And yet they have many things in common.

    1. "I don't know anything about your project but here is my 'constructive criticism/suggestion' anyway."

    2. "You can do it with RPGMaker/other engine/tool ect. in a fraction of the time."

    3. "You gotta make PROFIT!!! Oh, you won't? Nah, I'm not interested anymore."

Is it coincidence? I am the only one who notices that? And where the heck do this wiseasses come from?

  • Very enjoyable to watch and educational, too! The enthusiasm and passion the team exhibits is inspiring to all aspiring gamemakers. Stay the course, Team Elysian. Never give up!

Will the next series of videos discuss narrative design and plot elements? I'm an amateur writer/blogger and very curious about the story.

  • Awesome new episodes, keep up the great work ! :)

Also I want to thank you for giving me the motivation to keep developing and progressing in game development, you're really a great source of inspiration, even how gay that may sound.

That was a very entertaining 70 minutes of my life and it was well worth the wait.

Glad to see the ES team are still kicking ass and are still sticking with the principle "let your project talk S*** for you"

    Excellent Work!

  • Seriously guys, that's amazing progress. And who knew Kendall could do all that!!! You guys proved all the doubters and haters wrong with this episode, i wonder if bearrick will finally admit that he was wrong????

  • Who is Bearrick? One of the guys from that other dev team that was all arrogant and stuff? I can't even remember their name. Heheheh.

  • Hey made 2 videos hating on the team, gyro in particular, for absolutely no reason. It was pretty pathetic to be honest.

  • Hmm, that's fucking weird.

  • *Claps furiously* Awesome Episode guys, keep up the good work! I love the new style of the series, keep this going. Every second was amazing and it was well worth the wait!

  • this video was by far the most professional and well put together i have seen it is worthy of 6 stars if that was possible on youtube.

  • You guys really do seem like a tightly knit bunch. Progress is looking amazing! Keep up the great work!

  • woo! go linux vote!

  • Falco's vote was great. hahah

    Celery FTW.

  • wow... that was everything I hoped it would be, and more!

  • That was awesome! Keep it up guys!

  • 3:55 omfg hilarious

  • This episode really shows how strong the ES team is. You guys are more professional and more organized than ever before. I love the way the game has a classic 2D RPG feel but it encompasses more modern elements like the physics system, the more advanced graphics functions, and the modern rock/electronic/trance soundtrack. You guys are really doing an amazing job!

  • I totally agree! :D Great work! ES team! :D

  • Thanks man. It's comments like this that make it all worthwhile.
