One could easily argue that this is the defining episode. Scrooge has lots of money. But he's not happy. And his finding at least a bit of insight and happiness depends on his ability to learn a lesson that money can't buy.

And while there are other rich 'people' around, he's not a part of their 'content' group. He tries to take on their values. But he realizes (to his credit) that he can't.

He has money but he can only find happiness when he realizes that there is more to life.

The Barks-obsessée in me is dying with excitement! I wanna kiss and hug whatever absolutely amazing fellow came up with this plot!

I do hope they do they same with some of Don Rosa's stories... though then again, maybe not - no-one can ever copy him successfully.
