  • This was a very informative video on youtube. Easy to understand. MAKE MORE PLEASE.

  • Does using auto white balance reduce the effects of CPL filters?

  • @DanhNguyenster64 No, it doesn't. It may be more noticeable with one white balance than with an other, but you are not reducing the (physical) effect itslef, you are just selecting different parts of the colour spectrum wich will yes change colour contrast. This refering to the sky or daylight situations, but the effect is practicaly non existant when you are dealing with reflexions like from a glass.

  • Hi, I'm new to DSLR. I've got a question, can I use Polfilters for videography too? how does it affect the shots? thanks a lot in advance!

  • @schuerzenjaeger Yes you can! it affects it on the same way as still pictures, mainly richer colours and contrast in sunlight situations and glare reduction against reflective surfaces. Lots of movie scenes are shot with a polarizer.

  • @surferboy36O Thanks! I am using a CPL filter for my outdoor shots. Looks more lively and the colors looks more natural. But I'd rather take it off when shooting indoors or low light.

  • @schuerzenjaeger Yes, don't use it indoors unless you really need it to cut some reflection, otherwise it doesn't make any difference and it takes away 2 points of light.

  • I thank you, and now off to blow some film!

  • @OssyTuber good for you! film rules!

  • thanks alot for the useful tips!

  • Very nice video! Awesome to see in what situations it's useful :) I should get me one of those! Or two.

  • its magic! how does it remove reflections and glare?!!

  • @roborovskihamsters it only lets in a specific pattern of light.

  • @roborovskihamsters If you could look through the edge of the glass of the filter and enlarge it you would see line after line of black carbon rods from the front to back. Now if light comes through the lens head on it passes through. If it comes in from an angle it is absorbed by the rods and does not pass through. That is why when you rotate the lens it shows some light from the side then it vanishes when you turn the filter. Hope that explains it okay.
