Im endorsed by Stagg, and proud of it!! I use the DH Exo crashes.... and they sound amazing!!! They cut, they cost me pence, AND, they've lasted me longer then any top of the range Sabian, Meinl and Paiste ever have!!
@j0gan673 maybe but I have heard a lot of Stagg cymbals but I've not got a Sabian AAX 21" Raw Bell Dry Ride and that blows both of them out of the water no question (though I know some Stagg lover will tell me I'm wrong ha ha)
Yeah I find due to the automatic compression on the mic from the camera, the mic itself being poor and the video compression make videos showcasing a cymbal can be very inaccurate especially when it comes to the attack and decay of the cymbal.
i own the basic cymbals from DH series (crash, hi-hats n' rock ride) and i couldn't be more pleased , i broke my thin crash some months ago but they lasted 3 years, actually i started to play drums with them, i recommend this cymbals so much, specially this series
its their like second lowest class, go get some furia or myra, into jazz? check the traditional or bronze series. i doubt you like zxt cymbals. i sure hope you dont anyway :D.
@eternalthrasher I'm not sure, stagg produce some quality stuff, if someone likes the sound of a stagg cymbal moreso than a Sabian or Zildjian then branding shouldn't matter, unless it's as shallow as brand recognition.
If you are a serious musician and do care a lot about how you sound don't just take it from endorsers because half of what they say is business. When i heard about Stagg I went to a store and checked them. Their cheapest line the SH sound and feel a mile better than A custom fast crashes...atleast to my own ears and taste. how much did I pay for a 16 SH Regular Thin Crash? US$55
Brand is just a subliminal advertisement. I don't say they are bad but there are some that is better in generic line.
i picked one up very similar to this, it was a Stagg DH X-tra Dry Exo-Ride 21" i thought it might be the same as this video but the hammering looks different. it sounds so raw and badass and the bell sounds HUGE, its like sabian's raw-bell-dry-ride's evil cousin.l.. maybe i'll make a vid
hey, anything is allowed, why follow rules? If it sounds good, use it! If you are you are looking of just blending in with what others do, get what they have!
zxt = Zildjian's Xtreme Trash.

@LaveaFirmis I imagine that this sounds better in person than on a video with poor audio quality.

Stagg is shit to me. But they're doing quite fine as you said. Have ever heard of Soultone cymbals?
eternalthrasher 2 years ago
yeah, shit if you have much money. but it will be nice if you have low budget
norutheone 2 years ago
Well that's also true. for a low budjet drummers it's a piece a gold because the material and making way. not because of the sound.
