  • I actually think he's doing the nine inch nails version =o not to nit pick haha sorry, great cover though =)

  • 1:47 the Echo really added to the song! my favorite part!

  • Wow, I'm not really a fan of BB, but they truly kicked ass on this song. Nice to hear a band making a cover closer to the NIN one rather than the Cash one.

  • Since BBs my favorite band of all time (at least to me), I'm going over my head and people your going to hate this, but BB's cover of this was my favorite over NIN and JC put together. I'm not saying that to offend or start anything, if expressing my opinion is a bad thing then I'll probably get a lot of bad replies...

  • For some "strange" reason, I really doubt that Johnny Cash covered NIN. Think of it that way... :/

  • @BlackHeartAbyss He did, though. That's Fact.

  • @BlackHeartAbyss That makes you a fucking idiot.

  • @SineFractal And that real mature comment made you look like an ass, doucheface. So, now that we understand each other I can say that after I posted my opinion I looked it up and saw that Cash did do a cover. I was wrong yes but you don't have the right to be an immature fuckface. Thanks :)

  • @BlackHeartAbyss First of all, you were wrong in your original statement. It was NOT an opinion you posted, it was an incorrect fact. You should have looked up the info BEFORE you posted. That makes you a fucking idiot. Second, whether or not I was being an "immature fuckface" or not, I do in fact have the right to do that. There is not law stating "Thou shall not be an immature fuckface" or anything of the like. So before you post a response, please stop being a fucking idiot.

  • @SineFractal For one, "I doubt..." is an oppinion. I didn't say "Johnny Cash did not do a cover". THAT would have been an inncorrect fact. I DID state that I doubted he did, which IS an opinion. For two, I also have the right to post a comment on a video so get over it. For three, I admitted that I was wrong. Quit being a bitter irritating little prick and going around starting stupid little fights online. I know you're life is boring but that doesn't mean you have to stir shit up for fun.

  • even when the quallity of the audio is not the best, i like this cover, i hope they can record this cover someday :P

  • Haha Chad is awesome in the back XD

  • He kinda sounds like the dude from Korn on this. Brilliant cover.

  • i think i just splooged.

  • One of the best covers I've seen so far; right up there with Cash, Bowie, Sevendust and Kermit.

  • Definitely a cover of NIN rather than a cover of Johnny Cash's cover. It's a bit darker than Cash but I like it both ways. Fucking tune.

  • @ASFX07 They are definitely playing the NIN version.

  • Anyone have a tab for this version?

  • BEN GIMME UR PRS !!!!11

  • this is a great song ^^

  • johnny cash wrote this song....trent reznor covered johnny cash

  • @bhgilly hahahah of course

  • @bhgilly

go search it up, Trent Reznor was the original writer

  • @bhgilly 2002 < 1994? never knew that...

  • @bhgilly your an idiot

  • this cover shows respect for the amazing NIN song.. not like Cash that got all the rewards when it was Trent that made it...

  • Awesome

  • The NIN featuring David Bowie is the best version. search "nine inch nails hurt bowie"

  • @Rocky632156

If you've actually listened to the original, you have terrible taste in music.

  • Comment removed

  • People always start clapping on the songs that are most unfitting for it...

  • My feelings for this song are like this.

Trent wrote it with raw emotion. The cover versions have 'cooked' it. The song is still bloody brilliant, but the feeling it gives is weaker, as the person performing it does not share the feelings Reznor did.

  • quit bitchin ya'll. enjoy the damn music.

  • @MegaCountrygirl01

    I like how you think

  • I know its not the original but I love this and I love BB!

  • Fucking Awesome!!!!!

  • is there like a studio version of this song from breaking benjamin because i think it´s badass

  • Not bad, I like how he puts emotion in his voice.

  • Breaking Benjamin FTW!

  • no one needs to be bashing Trent, Ben, or johnny because Trent wrote the song and sang it beautifully , Ben went over his boundaries to sing the song and did a good job but definitely not the best, and johnny had a hard life and the song fit him perfectly, but Trent did not just wright it just to wright it fits Trent more perfectly than Johnny, only because.......well read some stuff on Trent and you will understand it better. Trent went through the most hard times and the hardest life....

  • Weird. Theres another video of this same song at the same place but the camera's behind Chad.

  • i'll admit that i'm not much of a NIN fan (mainly cuz i haven't got around to listening to them) but i will say that it's very impressive when Johnny frickin Cash wants to do a cover of one of your songs

  • i like johnny cash's cover of hurt better but this one kicks ass to

  • Trent Reznor wrote but in my poinion I like johnny cash version more

  • I'm going to agree with you. For some reason, it just completely fit Johnny Cash so much more then Trent Reznor. But that's just my opinion

  • Ok you write a song and then I'll copy it and say the words totally fit me better even though you're the one who wrote it. Even though Trent said that he felt that Johnny did a perfect interpretation I still think you're an asshat.

  • Wow, you're acting like I had said what I said as a fact instead of it being my opinion. I in no way stated that what I said was a fact, you, my kind sir, are in turn the asshat.

  • It's because Johnny's life got so eff'd up, but Trent's did, too if you look it up. So honestly, it's fitting both ways.

  • i saw them perform this in manchester NH, simply amazing

  • they've never played in manchester since bens scared of planes of somethin like that

  • manchester USA,

  • there's a manchester in USA, kool, i live in the uk

  • LOL @ the crowd's lack of knowing wtf they are listening too (there are a few though)

  • I love the cover. Brings me to tears.

  • LMAO everytime I come to watch tis video everyones always fighting about who wrote it. Hahahahahahaha. Breaking Benjamin rocks 4 life!! Amazing song.

  • People are really stupid. Trent Reznor wrote this song. Learn2music.

  • He wrote like everything too. The bass, the guitars, the drums.

  • i mean i am a fan of BB but this song just doesnt suit them...maybe another nin song would have worked...something from with teeth would be more their style...

  • I agree it's not them, but i can see it being them XD

But point is yeah they did have a great cover.

  • 0 emotion = bad cover.

Is it just me or does he sound like he's trying to impress girls with his voice at... 1:41?

  • wtf? no he's not...

  • if u listen to more BB thats just his voice he can do that weird scream thing and make it sound cool i think this is a good cover. He makes it like a BB song

  • Ben sings with the most emotion of any singers I know

  • wow this is the first cover of hurt that I've heard that I actually really like, I'm not big on cash's version and sevendusts version was just terrible, in my opinion, but this is really good

  • no actually a lot of people mistake that Nine inch Nails wrote it im suprised im the only one to correct u so far lol but yea Cash did a good version i think it has emotion and yea like u said it sounds like he wrote but its not

  • No. He didn't. The song was written by Trent Reznor.

  • No he didnt, Trent Reznor did.

    Get your facts straight.

  • no nine inch nails did jackass

  • youre retarded

    trent reznor

  • trent reznor is in Nine inch nails Dickweed!

  • i feel like the original nin version is better especially since you can sense trent's pain and true feelings than in this version. there is almost no emotion in this guys voice when he sings it...and thats what makes the song...more than the lyrics do

  • It's not his fault if he hasn't felt the pain necessary to put true emotion into the song, but it's a fantastic cover.

  • no. johnny cash actually covered it. trent reznor wrote it. sorry.

  • No he didnt Trent Reznor wrote in in the 90s. Get your facts right.

  • your name doesn't fit you very well dumbass

  • Well... thanks asshole :)

  • im just saying trent wrote the song i think people like to comment on hurt covers saying that other people wrote it just to start shit...

  • by saying stuff like this starts stuff

  • My 2 cents....

NIN version is the best due to the fact that its the original and the emotion that comes through in Trents voice makes it all that much better...

I still say that the Cash version is good, but it comes across as the song is about Cash's age, where it was intended to be about drugs for both NIN and Cash as the both experienced the traumas of Addiction...

But like I said the NIN version is more emotional especially live...

  • More emotional? Quote from Reznor himself...

I pop the video in, and wow Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps Wow, I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre

  • and it still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure.

  • wow. thats an awesome covr!~!!

  • i was lucky enough to be there... words can't describe how much better it was to hear it in person <3

  • I bet this was AMAZING in concert. It's hard to get the full experience listeing to this since the bass blows out the mic on the camera, but BB is AMAZING in concert! I saw them on the Fallen tour with Evanescence in Little Rock, AR. Have their autographs on a shirt somewhere and my tickets but yeah this is beautiful.

  • breaking benjamin kicks ass

  • No cover version ever, doesn't matter which song and doesn't matter who covers, is ever better then the original... My own opinion ...

  • your all fucking morons have you ever heard the nin version? cash's is good but come on trent reznor is a god when he sings that song no one can put that much feeling into his song as he does

  • every1 has a different opinion you piece of shit

  • hypocrite

  • Cash's version is better. Never said this isn't good. It's ahmazin how the same words can tell differant things by the voice

  • Bitchin! Thanks for the post!

  • breaking benjamin is great at this... and so is johny cash. but i like johnys version better because it has more feeling into it, and the song is suppost to have allot of feeling.. to be good

  • I love BB, I love NIN...but this doesn't work out for me. Breaking Benjamin didn't adopt it enough, like Johnny Cash did. Cash made it his own song, changing it to fit is music, but this music and even the enunciation of words seems to completely copy Trent, but Trent pulls it off much more emotionally for me at least, and it just feels like something tangible. I don't quite have the same experience here with Breaking Benjamin.

  • I agree, this is like linkin park is singing it

  • johnny cashs version is better

  • I know treny made this song but personalyI think cash's sounds more human, lol it's hard to explain but I do aknowledge trent though. Man I miss cash (holds lighter up)

  • Dam I suck at speling DX

  • i wear this crown of SHIT

    nin not cash

  • i hate how everyone think that jhonny cash is the creator of this masterpeice when really Trent Reznor thought of it!!!

  • @aenima001 They do it to remember him, because it was of the last songs Cash did before he died. It's very sad & dramatic.

  • i like this version

Johnny Cash and breaking benjamin ROCK

  • NIN?

  • nine inch nails

  • Wow their trying way to hard to sound like NIN.

  • sry i'm wrong. but i think they intended on using this song as a tribute to johnny cash.

  • They did..I wore a black jumpsuit to this show with a big black belt and gigantic belt buckle.

  • actually no. its a nine inch nails cover.. johnny cash also covers the song.. its not his. trent reznor from NIN wrote it.

  • Actually, Trent Reznor wrote the original, Cash was covering him.

  • Actually, Trent Reznor wrote the original, Cash was covering him.

  • their is your first mistake, your second is your anger at Ben for rejecting your sexual advances when you threw your smelly panties at him and he pinched his nose and said PU and kicked them back at you. Don't be a hater.

    Sincerely

    Johnny Cash's Belt buckle salesman

  • Trent Reznor wrote the song and I'm pretty sure Ben's version is meant to be NIN-style. Awesome cover.

  • Champ I'm sure that you're right. At least this is what I think Ben was trying to explain to me when he was chewing on a huge mouthful of triscuits and wandered off to find a bottle of water.

  • Man... I love Breaking Benjamin, and I love their version of hurt, N.I.N's Version, And Johnny Cash's version. Their all different enough that I get a different feeling from each one. If you love the original NIN one and r mad cause Cash and BB redid it... think about it, BB is just playing it cause they also love the song, not trying to remake it, better it, just doing it for the love of the song

  • you sir, hit the nail on the head.

  • lol, thanks... I'm amazed people didnt freak when I said I liked Johnny Cash's version also...

  • Being a Breaking benjamin fan for many years i do have to defend them saying, anyone who disses on this video,i suggest they go and try playing this song in front of a few hundred people and see how you do.I guess Mark was right,"love many, trust a few"

  • they need to do a studio release. i love this version.

  • how are you gonna clap to this????? What is it Power ballads??

  • lol nice

  • Wow, i amazed at how popular this song is. i had no idea that they covered it. i wish they covered it at the one i went to.

  • i think they did cover it when i was there but i missed it. Three days grace covered Rooster by Alice in Chains but this is a better cover

  • johnny cashs version is shit he took all the emotion out i mean i could lay down in my bed w/ my gf to nin's or this one but johnny cashs makes me sick

  • OMG, fuck you. You have no fucking clue.

  • i wonder if i can get this on lime wire, but nothing beats johnny Cash

  • Well Nine Inch Nails originated this song, not Cash.

  • well johnny cash made the song!!! what it is today

  • tRUE

  • Yeah. Overplayed. Reznor wrote the song and meant it, Johnny Cash just died.

  • meh johny cash is okay

  • wow, this is amazing quality

i got to see them perform this cover back in june

    breaking benjamin is amazing

  • Ben´s voice is amazing!

  • Okay. I'm just going to tell u to go fuck yourself. this is really god

  • u suck

  • This band knows what a dick is and how to use it. Go lose your virginity somewhere.

  • I don't get why someone would come here just to piss everyone off. go fuck ur self.

  • your a fucking idiot, why search the video if ur just going to slam it, dipshit

  • I got to see this cover done by them back in 05. They've changed it up a good bit but it's better now. Fucking killer recording!

  • I cannot even begin to explain how much this cover too the original and Johnny Cash's cover to fucking school. That was AMAZING. The drums were fantastic. =)

  • I'm pretty sure that it can't be said any better than that lol.

  • He's got a nice body and ass. ;D

  • wow bb does this song really well

  • GOD HE'S SOOOOOOO HOT

  • heck yes he does XD

  • hes gotta a nice ass

  • I love this song its so beautiful it makes you wanna cry and scream for joy or anger and his voice is amzasing and so handsom!!

  • this was the best concert ever w/ all the cover songs breaking benajmin w/ hurt and three days grace w/ rooster and hey man nice shot amazing. they are all really cool guys too, along w/ puddle of mudd who were also very amazing

  • hm, if its the same tour I went to, its Chris Cornell. The lineup was Operator, Chavelle, Breaking Benjamin, Three days Grace, and Chris cornell. This was may 26th. So I am not sure if thats what you're referring to.

  • Is breaking benjamin or three days grace headlining? So many people have said different things...

  • i went to a concert on that tour on my b day, bb was the main event

  • NO CLAPPING! he sounds like trent a wee bit

  • your right he dose sound a little bit like trent well a young trent

  • phobia your sooo right he makes the song sound so good i love his voice it makes me cry and scream and make love to him XD

  • Haha, when he sang hurt at my concert I literally went ' YESSS!' since Nine Inch Nails is my ultimate favorite band, and it simply made my night. :]

  • when he did this in MI...i almost died!...i loved it!

  • ben makes the song worth listening to... his voice just has that hot boy distress sound

  • Simply an amazing singer. Breaking Benjamin is the most talented band out there... nuff said!
