  • My Pops sent me this. Been driving big truck just 18 years. This song put a big ol smile on my face today. Thanks =)

  • I think the rig at 1:05 is the "ghost truck" from Steven Speilberg's t.v. movie, "Duel."

  • @gmartinz01 You are correct.

  • Like the original better than the so called remake by Sawyer Brown. (Completely butchered and ruined it)

  • i drink , fuck and drive truck

  • OH, yeah, for air conditioning in Texas, you kept a cooler with two or three hand towels iced down. Wipe your face and neck, ever 10 mins or so, and wrap around your neck. Return to cooler, get a "fresh one", and repeat as necessary!! LOL You don't want to know how hot it can get in the cab, with the "boot", missing off where your gear shift went through the floor board!!

  • In my misspent youth, I drove an 18 wheeler for a while.....not quite as glamorous as portrayed. 10 speed Roadranger, and no air cushioned seats!! LOL You, and your seat bounced to every seam in the highway, (and pot hole). They (the tractors) are about like driving a space craft today, compared to 45 yrs ago!! LOL

  • or a " freightshaker"?

  • @rdfronnie A Freightliner. They are big junk plastic trucks.

  • Hey there - to anyone reading this - after loving this song for years and years, only about five years ago did I realize what ICC stood for, or "I'm a little overweight and my log books are way behind." Now getting ready to make the drive from Maine to Arizona and have got this on my iTunes. If you see a red Toyota - with a Siamese cat laying in the window - barrel by you as you drive west, it may be me!! God willing, I'll arrive safely.

  • Just found out a Jimmy is a GMC truck and a White is White truck Company bought out by Freightliner

  • this is a great song, well written, with ICC checking on down the road, taking little white pills, etc

99% true lyrics by the writer.

  • @weightfeather1 No problem. Cheers!

  • @weightfeather1 This is the original. Dudley was (as far as I know) not on a major label, and rerecorded this song several times for small independent labels (like Starday/Nashville). This is the original 1963 version.

  • @elc1960

Actually, he was on Mercury for a time.

He was from my area. My parents were very close friends with him. My dad still has one of the stage vests that Dave gave to him.

  • @MISisback Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware Dave was with Mercury. Then again, if your parents knew him then you would know about labels for which Dave recorded. Thanks again!

  • i'm a real truck driver and HoustonPublisher has showed his ingnorance about driving a truck in a semi you feel every single pothole the truck or trailer hits. a semi would run right over a car but you would feel it i drive for u.s xpress and am 4th generation trucker .

  • @fortysixand88 please trucim carefull i lost one of my best friend yers ago in Tanker Truck wreck. everytime i seee a semi i think of Chris

  • 3 people with NO taste

  • LOL at you including the rig from "Duel" at 1:07. I'm trying to imagine the psychopathic trucker in that movie merrily singing along with this on the radio as he's trying to run down Dennis Weaver's ass!

  • Just love that lead guitar !

  • I think it should be against the law for anyone other than Dave Dudley to sing this song....and that guitar!...haaail yes!!

  • Speak of truckin tunes the other day I got to meet Dale Watson!

  • Drive a Truck an listen to this Song ♥

  • I remember when I was 3-5 years old, I used to be scared of the big rigs when the engine was rattling when my dad used to drive them rigs, until i gotten bigger & then gotten over my fears of the noise too. Plus, my dad & uncle's had also gotten me into talking on the C.B.'s to other truckers or other people whom I've met in person too. So, it was all thanks to Convoy, Breaker, Breaker(w/Chuck Norris) & Smokey & The bandit movies too.

  • Great Vid for this!

  • i have to say you got good taste somkey & the bandit is great and dave dudley is un beatable out of curiostity are you a turker i am but thats just me born and raised on it its in my blood

  • DIESEL!

  • The most poisonous exhaust is odorless. Diesel stinks, but is not that harmful. however, anti-grav is the way to go.

  • @460EFI Forgive my diesel ignorance, oh yes, I know diesel is oil, I just was not aware that new diesels blew smoke, it seemed to me throughout my life all the older rigs blew the black smoke and I thought it was worn rings, thanks for squaring me away. The intent of my original comment was for laughs and a backhand slap at government regulation but looks as if that original intention, at least in your interpretation, went up in smoke...

  • snowman and the bandit.

  • Great song, tells the whole story !

  • @weightfeather1 He may have known it, but then again from what I saw it was a small car so can't be sure. One thig is for sure though the driver of that car was was lucky they were in front of the rig and didn't go under the van, if would of been the case it would be over for them and that's for sure.

  • Smoke blowing black as coal? Mr. Dudley, think of the environment and get that long overdue ring job..you don't want some govermental agency going into spasms, now do you????ha...ha..

  • @rainstormz28 lol. man, diesels blow smoke when they are brand new. (if they are tuned right.) you realized diesel IS oil? when they blow smoke, it just means that the motor isnt gettin enough air to burn all the fuel. most big rigs wont even need a ring job til or after the million mile mark. AND, where he says flames are shootin out the stack, well, back in the day, there were trucks that really did shoot flames. ;)

  • Dave Dudley was a Gay truckdriver who loved meeting men at greasy truckstops and fornacating in the back of his smelly old Rig.

  • By the way, where'd you meet him?

  • Been there, done that.

Four million miles and still trucking.

I started driving in 1959 in a gravel pit. I was fourteen at the time and am still going. Wouldn't consider doing anything else.

And have never been without a job. Good drivers are always in demand.

  • @Creaky1964 keep on truckin....

  • I had the original single of this from 1963 - it was on Golden Wing records. Dave Dudley had several other truck drivin' songs like this one. One of them gave birth to a Ric Flair promo: "I'm a kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' (limousine ridin', jet flyin') truck drivin' son of a gun".

  • Im 13 but Iv had the pic at 059 hangin on my wall since i was 3

  • omg reminds me of my dad thad died driving his big rig .12/29/81/ this is for you daddy!

  • BREAKER! BREAKER! Who's that HOT blonde driven the Kenworth?

  • This is a kick A** song! My muscles get pumped just listening to it! ★★★★★!

  • It was really a Rock & Roll song and Dudley should be considered for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!!

  • Love this!!!!

  • The Peterbilt from the movie "DUEL" at 1:05.

  • @4freespeech I thought I was the only one that liked that movie! Very good flick and terribly underated. Same ilk as Vanishing Point

  • not a bad looking peterbilt.

  • Awesome the backup singers making the truck sound Raaaaaaaaain?

  • Awesome listen to the back up singers makin the truck sound Brrrrrraaaaaain!

  • Best version ever

  • The different engines that were keystone in changing the industry. The 2-cycle motors from GM came out of the war and into the first over the road trucks. Cummins was always a strong player as well. Guys were buying larger injectors from companies on their routes and playing with the pumps for speed. But still no comparison to the motors of the day. Then there was CAT. I will not forget pulling big mountain,, settled in for the climb and a CAT outpulled. That motor was that good back then 60's.

  • @MaddogMarineSibil 671 DID ME RIGHT ON MY EPIC CRUISE FROM NEW YORK TO CINTI. ON THE WATER . up the hudson river to the erie canal across lake erie ,up lake Huron down lake Mich. thru chicago ship &sanitation canal ,Ill. waterway down the Mississippi & up the Ohio river In 187 ft. boat built 1902

  • Hey-TheBandit... your timing on the lyrics to the images is excellent! Love that part where "it's blowin' black as coal"! I've 2.5 Million miles + OTR and I love this song! Listened to it as a kid back about '76 and watched TV's "MOVIN" ON". Now I have a 21 year truckin' career to look back on. Thank you for the upload!

  • Good job! Smoke blowing black as coal.... Think I'm happy?...Your right! Perfect timing!

  • Awsome, just freakin awsome!

  • you could have a b model cat with 3.73s but flip them top 2 gears around and really get things done!!!!

  • Cool Song.

  • Cool!!z!

  • Love this song!!!

  • Great video and really great song. First heard it when I was ten back in 63

  • FUCK YEAH

  • well done

  • Was soll ich sagen...? Great! Keep

    on trucking!

  • Offloaded 18 wheelers for 15 years. Enjoyed meeting all the different drivers from around the country. Not one of them looked like Jerry Reed!

  • Screamers r pretty good 2

  • That Army tanker is badass. I used to drive one of them when I was in the service.

  • I cant wait till i get my class - a cdl drivin a freightliner with a detroit 500 - just four more years and then my dad can relax back in the bunk

  • this song reminds me of my old tow truck a 671 powered international with a 13 speed roadranger

  • ouch 318 screamer

  • I heard this song when i was on the eastern seeboard head home from 3 weeks out!!

  • Couple years ago, Our '50 Chevy 3.5 ton grain truck wouldn't go into the 3 high gears, so my dad borrowed his friend's old Diamond T tractor and rented a grain trailer. On one of our trips to the elevator, this song played on the classic country station. That was COOL!

  • the truck my dad drives can go 136 flat out and it's a peterbilt 379 with a 600 cat

  • nice truck...ext hood? and what year?

  • it is a 2000 379

  • thats what a man who sings ought to sound like

  • old trucks are cooler.

  • So are old truck drivers. I had several uncles that were truckers & they were the coolest. :-)

  • Today's new trucks can cover some ground, one blew past me like I was standing still on the Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Tucson, I was going 75, he must have been going 120 or faster.

  • in the past they geared the trucks slow and then ran them fast, at their limits mos of the time, today we gear them fast and in most cases drive them slow, but all it takes to get a truck to do 100 these days is a few clicks of a mouse

  • yeah........but older trucks are still cooler. great machines. you're right though, changes in speed for trucks these days are easy.

  • yeah old trucks are alot cooler, easier to work on to lol

  • @TheBandit77TransAm one button kit will do the trick @ it takes 15 minutes in a truck stop parking lot BACK THEN when a fellow trucker would help in de regulation sucked the solidarity out of US

  • @redneckfromthenort if you run a truck over 65 you use more fuel than anything 65 is the ultimate speed for a truck. my daddy had an older truck it ran great my brother has a 07 and it runs great so there isn't any dispute in my eyes to see if they older the better they are it's all in the driving in my opinion..

  • Those movies like Convoy really crack me up. They make good entertainment, though far from reality. Haven driven every type of truck Dave Dudley's singing about in this song, I can tell you, anyone in their right mind would never attempt to drive a car under a rig unless they're ready to commit suicide. I can tell you this, when that rig runs over them and it will that driver won't even spill his coffee, loaded or unloaded. If the driver even knows he hit something. Nice try though Hollywood.

  • hahaha yeah tell me about it. although Smokey and the Bandit had a lot of realism.........it was very possible to do. I don't think anyone is that stupid to do that, but its possible! haha lol

  • @TheBandit77TransAm saw a guy try in LA a year ago...didnt end well...lost his head

  • Natl. Lampoons Christmas Vacation!

  • Nice work here.

  • nice cool song Dave Dudley rules.

  • Nice work!!

  • Good choice of song I LOVE THIS VID.
