Guys, take that Rolling Stone poll with a grain of salt. Townsend at #10? And Chuck Berry helped invent Rock and Roll, but the 7th greatest guitarist of all time? I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been my vote. And Beck actually got 5th, not 4th - they put...?!!?Keith Richards?!?!! ahead of him? Hell, I don't even think Keith was the best guitarist in the Stones (that would have been Mick Taylor when he was in the band), let alone ahead of a freaking Badass Guitar God from Mars like Beck.
Hey Guys, LAST DAY To VOTE and SHARE for My First Music Video...If You Want To Hear Me Play LIVE...VOTE!!!! Google Debbie Tomko Bellingham for the LINK...Thanks For Your Support...:-)
When all is said and done and some of the dust has settled on the guitar world of the last 60 years, this guy stands out above all others. He is the complete guitarist who can adapt to any type of music and play from instinct. He could however have mixed in better musical company and produced much more material. But his musical prowess is simply unsurpassed
cool riff, but its definately lacking something. not too impressed, i kept waiting for something to happen in this song.. jeff beck is a great musician dont get me wrong, seems like there are a lot of copycats. maybe i was expecting to hear a monster guitar solo, since the premise of the main riff leads you to expect it. oh well, onward to the next video.
i walked into guitar center in Cincinnati last week , and said I wanted to look at Strats , being a huge Jeff Beck fan . The kid actually looked at me and said ' who is that ?" I lost faith in humanity that day
@svante1991 fuck you, zakk wylde blows dick, just cause jeff isnt agressive doesnt mean he is lame. its obvious you know nothing about guitar- jeff beck is considered even by zakk as one of the greatest of all time- listen to cause weve ended as lovers or brush with the blues is you want real feeling u prick!
many years before his death Les Paul said Jeff Beck is the best guitarest of this time. I have seen L.P. at J.B. concerts in particular several years ago at the Roseland and Hammerstien Ball Rooms .The Strat is the best guitar today just saw J.B. with Imelda May band and he used about 10 different guitars for the show it was great
My punctuation was at fault more than your grammar.
Basically the Les Paul (in particular the 1959) has a warmth of tonal range and 'stand alone' sound that does not seem to exsist in other guitars. To my ear its one of the most expressive musical instruments ever made.
No wonder its market price can be in excess $400,000 (US dollars).
My point here is that even if the Les Paul has that tone you like so much, there's millions of other players who says the same thing about another guitar.
Just because it has it's own sound doesn't mean it's the only guitar with it's own sound.. They're just different and people prefer different things... Some people prefer single coils, some prefer humbuckers, some prefer maple, some prefer mahogany.
@gitarmats The guitar stands alone here, not me, the Les Paul is recognised by many other people as having no equal.Having said that all the Gibson range has it own charm as well.
Listening to them being demonstrated by Gregor Hilden of Gregsguitars is a good way of hearing the differences.
Was very impressed with you posting in the competion series;some of the best SG sounds I have heard to date.Keep up the good work; thanks.
Been using that SG for a while now. It plays and sounds great, but it's not perfect for me... I want a flat radius neck, single coil and humbucker possibilities, vibrato bar, 24 frets and if I get a Vigier guitar with these options I'll also get a truss rod free neck and a zero fret that allows for more even string action.
Never seen a LP with all these options. My point is: It all depends on what the player wants from the guitar.
I'm not too good at modifying, but I know what I want in a guitar yeah!
I did modify one cheap guitar though... It's turned into a weird looking instrument... I'm not good with elecronics though. I have a friend who has built his own guitar from scratch and I've played it and it's pretty good! Lot's of pickup configurations.
Check out a guy named Cyamak Ashtiani, just type his name into the youtube search engine....seriously an INCREDIBLE guitarist.... Weird, unique, JAWDROPPING guitar playing.....you won't be disappointed
jennifer batten + Van halen both played solo in Beat It for michael jackson. Studio version is Van Haeln. but live tours was mostly Batten. Just random bit of info i figured id mention. nobody cares lol
I hate the whole guitar community. These videos always get overshadowed by the stupid ass "who's better" flame wars that start for no reason.
Do people have to bring up Clapton and Page on every single one of Beck's videos? Do they have to bring Beck up on every one of Clapton's or Page's? NO.
I thought guitar playing was for making music, not some sport where everybody judges it based on some technical bullshit.
@kingboobs20 "Hate" is a strong word, and coupled to "whole", unfair. Many people love guitar, whether players or listeners, and appreciate anyone who can play a melody and rhythm and get feel into it. I agree with you that it's the music that should be the turn on, not the technical brilliance of the players. If you want to get into a couple of "feel" videos, watch Eric Clapton/JJ Cale-Call Me The Breeze and Larry Carlton Group - 'The Prince' - North Sea Jazz 2007. Enjoy!

But when it comes to guitars there is only one Les Paul.
Frank5133 10 months ago

Well that's an obvious statement... There is also only one *name of any guitar model by any brand goes here*
There are different guitars and different people with different preferences.

Should have put a comma or semi colon after 'one' A Gibson Les Paul is to guitars what Stradivarius is to violins.
Hence easier to select the best instrument than than the best guitarist.
Frank5133 10 months ago
@Frank5133
Ok I made a grammar mistake and you pick on it... Please dont steep to that level..
Well now I'm curios... I ask you..
What makes a Gibson Les Paul the best guitar there is?
That is what you're saying if I'm not mistaken?
gitarmats 10 months ago

gitarmats 10 months ago
@gitarmats Being able to blend and modify guitars must be a bonus for players like yourself who know what sound they ultimately want to achieve.
The quality coming from the home players is better than a lot of stage professionals.
No vocals and only minimum backing for timing allows the guitar to 'speak fo itself' and the guitarist to put it
all together.
Us Youtube guitarheads are spoilt for choice !
Frank5133 10 months ago
