However I have an RB340 on my MGBGT, And the terminal labels are a little different. I have 2 Battery terminals , a WL (warning light?) Field, And Earth. Would you be able to clarify what need to be done? Thanks.
Also Would a fault in the charging system keep the car from starting? (aside from obvious no juice for the starter) I stalled her out adjusting the choke, and she won't start. Choke's adjusted right, pumps pumping, Any suggestions?
Alternators are AC. Generators are DC. You don't polarize Alternators. Generators need it because the +/- polarity needs to be correct, otherwise you're potentially feeding current backwards to the battery. That's one reason the alternator came about.. No more polarity issues.
Good-day....Does this 'polarizing' method work with similar Lucas control boxes? I've been driving my '59 TR3A since 1971 and I'm always looking for easier ways to do things...what do the letters on the control box stand for?...I assume A is armature,F is field,D is dynamo etc.? thanks, John(west coast,Can.)
Thanks John. This is a truely valuable service you are rendering with these videos. Even if one doesn't actually work on the car it is good to know what needs to be done.
Hey John, Thanks, This was very helpful.

Does this method of polarizing work when putting in a modern single wire alternator?
