One of the most brilliant actor and human beings I have seen interviewed. Most actors in real life can turn out to be quite dull. Even if they are not dull, e.g., Jim Carrey, it is very difficult to pique the serious audience's interest when there is no script. Mel nails it every time. I disregard his period of craziness. All gifted people go through it. Some turn out to be lucky enough to be overlooked, like Morgan Freeman. Some people's luck run out, like Mel Gibson's.
