A friend and I are actually doing research for what we dubbed the "rating wars" between the WB and FOX during the 90's. Being a Jersey resident, I remember vividly when channel 11 was still WPIX, and I can remember all the hype surrounding the switch to The WB 11. Old times man, old times.
Anyone here wanna help me out. I'm collecting dvd's for a "WPIX 11" collection. I have movies they used to play all the time like
Heathers, Masters of the Universe, Creepshow 1 and 2, Short Circuit 1 and 2, The Gate, Night of the Creeps, Rocky Series, Superman Series..all these greats so far..help me out with ones you def remember being played on 11.
@TheMeister31 Chariots of Fire, Coal Miner's Daughter, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Guys & Dolls, Sting, Quiet Man, Pee Wee's Adventure, Police Academy, Out of Africa, Terms of Endearment, Back to the Future, Twins, Troop Beverly Hills, Child's Play, Glory, Mighty Quinn, Scandal, Rude Awakenings, Flash Gordon, Purple Rain, Best Whorehouse in Texas, Casual Sex, Casablanca, Gone w/Wind, King Kong, Mighty Joe Young, Stand by Me, Gotcha, Like Father Like Son, She's Out of Control, Night Before, Parents, WIZ
@TheMeister31 Road House, Dirty Dancing, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Little Heroes, Fatal Beauty, The Bells of St. Mary's, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, National Lampoon's Vacation/European Vacation, Biloxi Blues,.......A lot of oscar winning classics and popular hits.....if I can remember more i'll definitely let you know......those were great days to be a movie lover.
I'm not sure when they started this but I remember this coming on every night when I was a kid. It stopped somewhere around 1994 or early 95 before The WB took over.

I remember in the late 80s Superman I, II, III were showing on WPIX. JAWS showed often too. Do new WPIX show movies?

I loved it when WPIX and WWOR were independent stations. I am so old...
