So I just contrasted and compared this vid with the 2007 Wacken vid with Tim. Wow. Even with the vocal range difference, I honestly have to say that Mat pulled it off better...Tim completely dropped the ball live. Granted, he could have been having vocal issues...But Mat did the opening pitch sustain unbelievably more justice than Tim, and I have to say the only thing Tim did better live was the LAST sustained note. Studio vocals own, but no live vocals=no lifeblood. Go Mat, welcome back.

Funny thing that when you hear Owens sing Jack there is the same problem. Trying to emulate a Different Style doesn't work out that well no matter whom the singer is. Owens can't sing Dracula or Jack or the Barlow era stuff , and Matt is not the best at singing Owens era stuff.. I still think Matt did his best with the song , the same as Owens did his best with Jack or Dracula. However nothing can compare to the original.

I don't think Matt sounds like a little child when he screams , If I'm right , I think by that you meant Matt's voice sounds thin and weak when he screams which is correct. If I'm not mistaken , That is because he has to use falsetto because he has a deeper voice. Matt can sing high , the new cd proves that , and so does some of his Pyramaze stuff. Matt isnt going to equal Ripper on the screams ... The opposite is true for Owens , he can't equal Matt in certain areas like the Lower stuff.

I too prefer the old IE with Barlow over the Owens era material. However, I do like Framing Armageddon, because I'm a huge fan of the Something Wicked storyline. I'm not the biggest Owens fan

As I said on another version this song was written for Owens. Matt does ok with it. Owens struggled with some of Barlows material as well. They are both very good but different. It was Jon who hired Ripper because the Barlow left the band so it wasn't Ripper's fault that he can't touch the Barlow's songs. Ripper is a very talented singer, maybe one of the best but he isn't meant for Iced Earth because Matt Barlow is the only one for Iced Earth, though I've come to appreciate his performance on the 2 albums he recorded with the band as of late. I wished Michael Kammeyer asked him to sing for Pyramaze instead.

Barlow is a vocal god, in his own style. The problem is when he tries to imitate another singers style, as this video clearly shows. The same is true for Owens as well. I would point to Jack as a clear example that shows Owens doesn't stack up to Barlow's style.

This is not a good song to compare Owens and Barlow on because it was written for Owens. There isn't a good song to do that with because they are different style singers. Songs that are written for one sound bad with the other.

One reason videos were not done with Matt is IE had a different label at that time, Century Media. IE switched labels around the time they got Ripper. They switched to a better label, SPV. However , IE are making a video for I Walk Alone.
