So, so true......all the statues / books etc. of Buddhism can be destroyed as they are only material....but we must NEVER allow the teaching and essence of Buddhism be destroyed....as then that would REALLY have destroyed Buddhism.
Whn meditate just b aware of any sensure feeling, etc. during medit. if craving comes up, u can't get rid of craving, u just be aware of if. b aware of every feelings. Zen master says when u e hungry, u eat; when ur thirsty, u drink; when u want 2 sleep, u sleep. tha't is. That's buddhism, teaching. Just accept nature with moral, u learns buddhism, u learn about ur own mind, the nature of life. when 1 can't realize the suffering of life they become victimize.
Phenomena are preceded by the heart, ruled by the heart made of the heart. If you speak or act with a corrupted heart, suffering follows you, as the wheel of the cart the track of the ox that pulls it. Phenomena are preceded by the heart, ruled by the heart, made of the heart. If you speak or act with a calm, bright heart, then happiness follows you, like a shadow that never leaves.. (Dhammapada verses 1 & 2)
So im not saying to not love people, but learning that people will come and go makes it easier to not cling to them and cause yourtself suffering. Dont hold on to anger, its a fleeting emotion. It is imperminent. Its this grasping at perminence that traps us, kills our true nature, keeps us from nirvana/heaven/allah whatever u wanna call it, and so we keep suffering, keep craving for things that will not last, we become greedy, lustfull, selfish in our illusion of a fixed self.
When you meditate on this, you can see how we are all victims of this here in this realm, we all suffer physical and emotional pain through wanting stuff that wont last. Now that dosent mean one cant have family/children, but rather u actually love unconditionally because you know all the other stuff is no longer needed, just loving kindness to help others live better lives with less unessesarry suffering. there is a lot to it mate, i would really advise you to speak to a lama or someone. peace.
No one ever said not to have children. Its the way we cling on to things like they are perminent things in the world that causes craving and attachment which leads to more suffering. When you realise that nothing is perminent, the ego of self slowly dissaperars leaving only the better nature of selflessness and compasion and love to others. Please do some real research on buddhims and meditation, Dhamma etc before making silly comments like these. Your only getting yourself upset over nothing.
imperminance is a big part of buddhism. Look around, every little thing in existence, your thoughts, body, the buildings, the sea, the planet, the sun, the clothes you are wearing, your parents, trees...everything is always changing all the time. nothing stays as it is.
This im a fact of existence, and people are largley unaware of this important fact. So we cling on to our ego of a fixed self as if it is a solid thing, but it isnt. Your thoughts and feelings and momories are not fixed, they change just like everything else. So as most people live in an illusion of thinmking thigs are perminent, are fixed, we cling to things like they are, we crave to cling to people, even though it is futlie.
You have to be an Australian or a permanent resident to be ordained in Australia. There is a long waiting list right now and I don't think you get in. You can try Thailand, Myanmar or Sri Lanka.
all those things are subjective. What you class as dignified is different to another. Dignity for the sake of saving face can bring you a lot of suffering, attachment, craving, fear.
Not sure if my last comment posted so i'm doing this again.
Okay, as far as i know from the extent of my practice, it isn't that "you" don't crave-body and mind craves-but you aren't attached to body and mind. So on the outside in form it can appear relatively the same, like wanting a kid and having one, but you aren't craving or attaching to the process of becoming body and mind.
I only have a vague knowledge of this so i had to plug in a few missing pieces to communicate the idea.
I am just trying to explain Buddism is self contradictory! You say you have get rid of all cravings, without craving all will stop to exist. Tell me on what basis do you diffrenciate craving and natural urge??
And please dont give me vague answers like most of the monks. Most answers by Buddists are some where in between a YES and a NO!!

I just wanted to make you understand that Buddism only a collection of confusions.
I stared commenting in these channel because I got tired of seeing a large number of apparantly well educated Westerners walking the Streets of Sri Lanka dressed in rags, and begging for food, and kissing the feet of local monks in their "quest for enlightment"!
This life is not created in vein. Look for the purpose your life and save yourself from the hellfire in your life after death!
Please see this video if it might answer ur question, "Alms Round in North Hollywood". The monk supposed to act as Psychologist, they used what they learned from themself by using buddha teaching to apply in life then they support ppl. in need for mental health, and daily life problem.
'Mentally undeveloped person'. Do you realize that Ajhan Brahm is a holder of a first class degree in Theoretical physics (if you know what that is), from Cambridge. You certainly are a very confused person.
How could you be sure your way of rational could save yourself from the hellfire ? There is nothing in this world is absolute right and absolute wrong. It's your perception that makes it to be what you are to become. The monks chose their life so they can gain wisdom and compassion from humiliation, they put down their ego so no dukka can disturb them.
If there is no one in conltol and people are born again and again by random chance how can one be sure Buddah or anyone else who claims to have attained nirvana is not born again as an insect!
There are more than 800,000 life forms besides humans. And most of them are insects and micro organisms. Considering this the chances of one being born again as human is ONE IN 800,000!!
The human rebirth is said to be extremely rare. The Bodhicaryāvatāra compares it to a wooden cattle-yoke floating on the waves of the ocean, tossed this way and that by the winds and currents. The likelihood of a half-blind turtle, rising from the depths of the ocean to the surface once in a hundred years, putting its head through the hole in the yoke is considered greater than that of a being in saṃsāra achieving rebirth as a human. (From Wikipedia)
I'm certainly no expert in Buddhist cosmology but I'll give this a go. In Theravada cosmology there are various realms of existence from hells through animals realms to the human realm to heavenly realms. All are subject to impermanance. According to the Buddha the human realm is ideal because it contains both pleasure and pain so the possibility of cultivating the mind is greater. Beings move through these levels depending on past karma.
So an animal with good karma may be reborn in the human realm. Conversly a human with bad karma may be reborn in a hell realm and on and on it goes. So at any given time the human realm may increase/ decrease depending on how many beings have generated the proper karma to enter that realm. If looked at from this perspective the chances of being born a human is much, much higher than one in 800,000.
Who knows how many beings are living in all these realms? In any case this might all be untrue or true. What does appear to be relevant is meditation and mindfulness of the present tend to reduce stress and have other positive effects. Hope this is helpful. If not try asking a monk.
From your reply it is apparant someone has to keep track of karma of each one, so that based on the end result he could be rewarded or punished by being born in a better circumstances or worse.
Alfulani I think you are a deist and you are probably christian or Islamic. Hence you feel their is some diety watching everyone and keeping records on everything. Karma is automatic, put your hand in the fire and it gets burned.
It doesn't have to be anything. If you just think of something then it's just a thought. Everyone has different thoughts and yours come and go. So if this is what you depend on then this is why you are puzzled.
You are neigther here NOR there! You have a soul at the same time you dont have it! Life is like an ice cube in a raging fire. Ice cube stays as icecube and fire stays as fire!! Can we have some sense here please??
Well, if you forgot everything you think, even for a moment, then what is there? The best spiritual seekers know not to hold onto Karma, supernatural, or any other concepts. They are just there to help us question, they aren't there to be the answer.
Give up all forms of parrotry. Start practicing whatever you truly feel to be true and justly to be just. Do not make a show of your faith and beliefs. You have not to give up your religion, but to give up clinging to the husk of mere ritual and ceremony. To get to the fundamental core of Truth underlying all religions, reach beyond religion.

Why do you want to dress in rags, and walk the steets under hot sun, begging for food??
Also you will be required to kiss the feet of stinky local monks!!
You dont need to lose your dignity like this in order to achive "ennlightment" which to this day is not proven!

Well, the fact is it's not for everyone and if you look around there are people craving and reproducing so you don't have to worry about that.
You either realize craving is stressful or you don't.

The Buddists who are scared to face the realitites of the world become monk, and depend on others for their survival!
