  • June was a home wrecker but when I saw the movie I got the impression that Johnny Casn loved June Carter since he was a boy . Vivian never had a chance once he met the woman he had loved forever .

  • Yeah Right

  • poor vivian the people who made walk the line made her look weird. June carter was a homewrecker

  • a 2 hour movie can not do justice to Johnny Cash or anyone close to him. I always thought TV needed to do a 5 part mini-series of his life. But if you noticed lately TV sucks and doesn't do good mini-series anymore.

  • Also not to detract from Vivian, but where was poor old Carl Perkins in the movie. He was a real good friend to Johnny and they both went to Columbia records together. The sad thing today is that people want to focus on the drugs, which did affect his life I know, but these were a side-on to his life and shouldn't be the focus. There were so many other things of interest in his life. Sad old trashy Hollywood who know drugs sell movies.

  • Walk The Line, the movie, was terrible at potraying Johnny's life and the people in it.

  • Wow...they really messed up Vivian in the movie

  • 1:14 What a beautiful lovable couple. I really think it's sad what happened afterwards with June Carter.

I'm reading Vivian's book right now, very emotional.

  • This recording really shines a light on Vivian's relationship with Johnny. Stardom changes everything , sometimes love flies away with enormous success, new options become available. Seems to happen a lot today too!

  • I just finished reading Vivian Cash's book, "I Walked The Line". Big diff in reality and what the world was told. I was never really a Johnny /June Carter Cash fan but enjoyed the movie a few years back. I watched it again recently and it portrayed Vivian in such a bad light. For reasons unknown, it prompted me to do more researching and I found that Vivian had written a book so I bought it, read it, and my heart broke. Vivian went thru hell. Hollywood needs to do a remake & tell the real story.

  • Vivian looks black or mixed. I read she was Italian but she looks like she has something else in her. Look at her eyes and nose. My mom thought it was Mexican until I looked her up and read she was Italian but there got to be something else besides Italian.

  • that was so sweet you could hear the love in his voice for her i read vivians book in the book there are love letters they wote each outher they really did love each outher its sad that it didnt last i guess johnny cash just fell in love with someone eles

  • I hate June Carter. She just stole Johnny dfrom Vivian. How could she be so heartless? She just destroied the perfect marraige and family for her own benefit.

  • @Terabithian123 no she did fucking not..have some respect.. she did not steal him......Johnny loves June...and Johnny and Vivian were on the lead to breaking up long before June was in the picture so do not say such a thing you ungrateful person

  • @Terabithian123 How can you say you hate June?? June is great, and she doesn´t "stole" Johnny. Johnny has love June, and June has love Johnny. And there are great together!!!!! AND Vivian has divorced her from Johnny, because he took drugs, not because he love June.. And were not a "perfect" family, they had problems,OK!?! Johnny and June had a perfekt family. So don´t say June was heartless!!!

  • "Walk the line" presents her so bad. You almost hate her in the movie, but she's just a poor victim of the love affair between Johhny and June. It wasn't fair.

  • June is not to blame for their divorce. she refused because John was married. for divorce, John was guilty, no more.

  • you are mistaken. johnny was a raving addict. if anything is responsible for his decline it is drugs. june was no angel. june knew he was a married man, and made her intentions to have him at any cost plain to Vivian. No weakling was she, and i would hate to have been in Viv's shoes. Viv's book paints a different picture. johnny was a rounder. The movie was a Nashville invention with son John Carter Cash at the wheel. We'll never know the truth. That is for June, johnny, Viv and God.

  • i agree wholeheartly with iowastate johnny and vivian made the best couple ever and they would of still have been married if june didnt tear them apart . they were so much in love before her!!!! God bless you viv and johnny u both were so meant to be

  • this is my second time listening to this and I just think it is so sweet of Johnny to do this for is Viv..I know he must have loved her a lot. I think even if he loved June I am sure he must have still loved Vivian to because if you truely love someone you never stop loving them I know all about the whole love story of Johnny and June and John and June had problems to but I think maybe if June hadn't had come around maybe Viv and John would have always been together

  • i love mr cash, but his life shouldnt be a "hello" cover story. Theres some things you want to hear, and its ALL in hos music. This is irrelavant!...

  • i have the autobiography from the early days. Before June Carter ruined Johnny's love life with Vivian.

She stood by him through the hard times when he fighting drugs and I remember that Roseanne was not pleased at how her mom was disrespected in that movie.

BUT the music is the main thing

  • I never could reconcile the marriage between Johnny and June. It didn't figure that June was so pure, How can you be pure and be involved with a married man with 4 children? I think my unease was correct. I think June Carter was a tough conniving broad and Johnny was a weak human being. And yes I still love Johnny Cash's music. June, not so much.

  • John had four children but two. two girls had june of last marriage. John seduces June. she was rejected only after John divorced she agreed to be with him.

  • @najpametnija No.. that is not correct ! As he married June he has six daughters, four with Vivian (Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy and Tara) and two had June with other mans (Karlene and Rosie) and than they had a son Johny Carter-Cash!

  • @Katzeleine Carlene is spelled with a C not a K :)

  • @carlenecarter52 Oh right! :)

  • I just don't know what to say . I always thought Vivan was just a cold woman she seem to be in the movie Walk The Line and June was the perfic little flower that just wanted him to love her. but now i'm just not to sure about things...

  • Walk the Line painted Vivian is a very false light. I think during their tough times, Cash was the one to blame and I think he would've been the first to admit it.

  • Fame does strange things to people. A lot of celebrities have left their wives for other women - celebrity women, most of the time.

  • Vivian was my god mother, but she died a few years ago..I never got to meet johnny cash but my god father is Dick her second husband. I never saw much of the two of them excpet for on holidays but I know Vivian was one great woman :)

  • did she ever talk about johnny?

  • You know I thought the Johnny-June thing was awesome until I heard what a bitch JUNE was to VIVIAN the true wife of this man, as an ARMY wife I know of these easy women, may she rest in peace and knowing that she gave him 4 beautiful daughters and more happiness than she ever did.

  • this is really amazing! i so sad to here she died, thanks for the effort its chilling to hear him before he recorded anything else i knew about!

  • I just finished reading Vivian's book and she mentions this recording in there. I was one of those people who believed the movie until I read the book. It's good to know both sides of the story. I love Johnny Cash, and I have so much respect for Vivian. May they both rest in peace.

  • I love Johnny Cash, but I thought the movie showed Vivian as suffering and quite unhappy. She never came across as a bad person to me.

  • Annie, I just finished the book that (I believe) you did w/Viv. I wish all of Johnny's fans knew her point of view, as it contrasts so sharply with the Walk the Line and other media portrayals (maybe even the work you did for MTV? Have'nt seen it...), and that's not fair to her. Having that book out there, and in a small way even this recording, is a great step in that direction. Thanks and God bless!

  • where did you get the photos here? I have many photos from this time and I think some are exactally the same .. yet I thought I had orginals ... how is that ?

  • thanx for this....

  • This is such a loving tribute to Johnny, Viv and their children. So happy to see that someone took the time to post this. I am reading the book now, "I Walked The Line" and am moved by story. Wish another movie could be done to portray this book. It is a true legacy and precious gift. Job well done to Ann Sharpsteen and the late Vivian. May God give comfort and sustain the Cash Family with Peace. Kind Regards, Tannie

  • I'm going to write a movie using the book that Vivian wrote. The other book I'll use is the one that was written by Marshall Grant. They were both great books and told it like it was.

  • No offense, but the world knew of Johnny Cash and his music long before marrying June Carter. The film (which was very good) offered a truly unflattering depiction of this woman which was wrong and unfair. Vivian Liberto Cash deserved a lot more respect than she received in her life and hse shoudl be applauded for what she had to endure. Being the mother of four of Johnny Cash's daughters she still deserves that much and probably more.

  • You maybe are right, but in fact most of the scenes in the movie were exaggerated - like the "I got stripes" crash on stage, which did not really happen like this (except from kicking out the footlights in the Opry he actually did not collapse on stage), for example. I think that the arguments and quarrels between Vivian and Johnny were not as big in reality as in the movie, but a movie needs "popcorn", if you know what a mean. You definitely got a point in what you say, but it still is a movie.

  • yeah she was portrayed very badly in the film, which sucks because Cash's son was an executive producer, you'd think he would have been more sensitive to his sisters. Apparently she was always very supportive of his career as well. They had to make the movie clear cut for the audiences, they couldn't have Johnny leaving a good woman for June Carter, that would have been too confusing.

  • You are incredibly misinformed.

  • he was touring with elvis and everybody when they were married. everybody had already heard of him.

  • This is precious. Vivian was such a gorgeous lady, and her four daughters look so much like her. Thanks for sharing this!

  • Thanks verben+, the daughters DO look so much like Vivian don't they?! I agree. Kathy, especially, takes my breath away every time I see her. And photos of Rosanne, do too. Vivian was a beautiful lady (inside and out). xxxooo thanks for the comment

  • Thanks so much for posting this sweet statement of a loving man. It's priceless.

  • Hi Calilou, thanks for the comment. I love hearing the tenderness in his voice. So sweet...

  • I LOVE this...my sweet Dad to my sweet Mama.

PRICELESS...I'm so lucky to have this CD.

    Thanks Annie, Love Kathy

  • Kathy I so much loved your dad and his songs. I can see in this vid that he loved your mother and you girls. You are very lucky to have had these parents.

  • Do you have a recording company? I tried leaving a message to your brother on myspace and he never answered me. I'm an autistic 19 year old man with a new style of music called Ultimate Outlaw, and is a mixture of Country, Rock N Roll, Blues, Jazz and Bluegrass. When I was a baby he was music therapy to me, and still is. I love his music very, and he is my favorite singer of all time. He has been ever since I even realized who he was, because I was too young. I always loved his voice and sound.

  • You know what your father would do? He would help people get into the buisness, and would help them with whatever they needed help with, because he was kind and compassionate, and genuinly cared about everyone. He would give people a chance. He would give people a chance to prove themselves before making a dicision. Johnny Cash influenced me more than I can say, from the time I was 6 months old, and my family put his music on the tape player to soothe me when I was crying.

  • It was the only thing that would soothe me, and Johnny Cash has influenced me in all aspects of my life, especially my music, and I have new style of music that I would like to market. It is called Ultimate Outlaw. It is a mixture of Country, Rock N Roll, Blues, Jazz and Bluegrass. It is a mixture of these types of music, which makes a new sound.

  • Hey, do you have anymore recordings like this?

  • Someone posted a link to this on the forums. Thats how i saw this video. its amazing and thanks for posting.

  • Hi Baseball... thanks for the comments! A friend of mine (Jenny) edited this little video together for me, in order to honor Vivian and Johnny. Jenny was my dear friend each step of the way during the writing of the book with Vivian, and then after Vivian died. Glad you enjoyed seeing it!

  • Wow! That was wonderful! Johnny was certainly in love her....that's sweet. Thanks!

  • OMG!!! WHERE did you get this?????????
