The only thing I like about Gigabyte boards is Dolby. Dolby is cool but the price tag on gigabyte says Asus may be better. Biostar is base and gives about eveything you will need. Whats so big about Dolby?

yeah thats all fine, but i suggest the corsair h50 instead of the v8. i had the v8 for my phenom 940 b4, and when i overclocked it to 3.6ghz, the cooler just cant handle it.. but now, with h50 at heavy load my cpu wont go above 45'c at 4ghz., thats pretty sweet! and also, if you have some money to spend, better switch to 5970, the card will blow you up.

I can't find any DDR2 SDRAM 1333 for it on Newegg, or anywhere actually. WIll it work using a DDR3 SDRAM 1333? Or will it not work using DDR3? DDR2 1333 is achieved by overclocking you buy DDR2 ram @ 1066mhz and OC it to 1333 mhz

If you add 10 more bucks you can buy GA-MA790XT-UD4P DDR3 motherboard that will wor with DDR3 ram @ 1333 mhz and you can overclock it to 1666mhz

GA-MA790XT-UD4P supports only AM3 cpus tho... so if you're planing to get dual core cpu you can go with a amd athlon64 II processor (i think) there's only 1 am3 dual core processor so you'll find it ;P if you want 3-4 core cpus its better to have a motherboard that is not just AM3 ready its AM3 only socket, so... 1 bullet 2 rabbits :)

Best mo-bo (up to 200$) is the 790GX chip based DFI, it doesnt have better specs than some same-prices asus mobos, but its DFi i've ironed my old DFI and it sill managed to bood (with many errors offcourse)

You wont have any problems with UD4P series motherboard

You stick your 4 pin power connector in the right 4 pins on the mo-bo stick your 24 pin power connector in the coresponding 24 pins on the mo-bo and you're ready to go to the moon :P

I hightly recomend buying GA-790GX-UD4P instead of X cause you can add up to 16gb ram you can oc it better it has hybrid crossfire etc...

ermm 16 gb ram not 8gb

hybrid CF (if you have bought only 1 video card installed in the pci-e slots the integrated is going to work with it for better performance so you dont use your external card you use the integrated AND the external in cf mode) and it has 128mb ddr3 integrated memory (in the integrated one) so in hybrit CF you get 15-20% better graphics quality

just finished building my AMD Phenom x4 II 940 on this board and cannot be happier! i just Oced it at 3.2ghz. My current specs 1066 4 GB gskill, 1 tb, (this mobo is awesome very easy for OClocker beginners), i highly recommend getting the scythe mugen 2 (if IT FITS! huge! i have a coolermaster 932 haf case fits fine) i get 38-41C after 3-4 hours of playing empire total war.

lol---yup i have the scythe mugen 2. It was BQ@% installing. But it does the job. I get only 39-41C after playing empire total war at high settings for over 3-4hours. What kind of case do you have? i built this computer in coolermaster haf 932. ANd if you were to put ram, avoid getting heat sinks for your ram since your getting the scythem mugen 2. 2 sticks of 2GB ram G-skill 1066 4gbwith heatshields work perfect!

Try overclocking an AMD Phenom II X4 940 from 3.0 GHz to 3.6 and the sound will be distorded. A good sound card (Creative sound Xtreme Gamer) will fix this.
