I play softball but a guy i know got hit in the face with a baseball and he got a concusion and blacked out. it was because the umpire called deadball after the player hit it and my friend didn't know that he called deadball so the umpire was standing in his way so he thought that the umpire was gonna stop the ball and he moved at the last second and my friend was caught off guard and it hit him in the face! his face is gross! His eye is swollen shut and is a sickly color

Facemasks aren't for wusses.. In my travel ball AAU and NSA players are required to have either a facemask or mouthguard at all times.
