Remember the early morning walk back from the WG to the pier! The spars met along the way, the heady stomp, stomp, stomp heard from a distance was so amazing and eery. I fell in love with a gall from Newcastle (Jackie a top blonde spinner) and fucked it up in my head speeded race around. Halceyon days indeed!
Hi soul43man, the 3rd track into the video is an old mod favourite called I'm Coming Home Baby by Mel Torme, available on one of the Kent CD's. Thanks for the comment. Cheers.
this is fantastic. i went to the wintergardens every fortnight i live in cornwall now but my time in cleethorpes where the best times of my life. do you remember the lads from scunthorpe, snackie, al macool, cat and julia etc
The first track, which is one of my all time favourites, is 'Come Go With Me' by Gloria Jones, the same lady that did 'Tainted Love'. You can get that track on the Goldmine CD 'Come Go With Us'
cleethorpes weekender is brilliant. Ive been to 14 of them. Altho Prestatyn has taken over as the biggest and the best Cleethorpes is very special and was the original weekender before there was one a month to go to. Long Live Cleethorpes 6Ts weekender. xx
I was at the last winter gardens nighter in 1976 never could face returning as it was one of the saddest days of my life, still listen to the music though and still great.
Hi d0ubledr0p, I think numbers have dropped in recent years, but to be fair most of these shots were taken late afternoon while the light was good and the place was quiet, and of course the dj's dancing comp only had the dj's on the floor. During the main sessions the floor still gets packed! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Now I get it! Thought the floor was a tad empty. I've just dug out my programme 4 the '93 weekender which featured live acts from Mary Love, Willie Tee and Tony Middleton.
hay lets play ring a ring a roses lmao
