Nils Patrik Johansson (7:19) has also done some singing in Astral Doors. Not sure if they qualify as powermetal, but I think at least some of their songs are close enough to be mentioned. :)

But where is Russell Allen? Symphony X may be "progressive" but I'd definitely say they're progressive _powermetal_, if anything. Maybe not always, but often enough!

And where's my favourite band, Nocturnal Rites? Jonny Lindquist is one of the best pm singers out there.

And many of Dio's best songs are very close to powermetal.

"Kill the king" with Rainbow is by many considered "one of the first powermetal songs" for example. :)

So I think it wouldn't have been wrong to include Dio.

Sure, singers often make a lot of power metal music, but then again, it can't be done without the music, and a lot of what makes the singers great is that they really go with the music. For example; Tobias Sammet would not go all that great with Blind Guardian.

In the world of power metal his voice is absolutely unique, even if it rasps like a rusty saw at times - almost no power metal vocalist can go from absolutely clear to roaring and screeching convincingly, with such a range...Bartlett (ex Iced Earth) also has a great sound IMO!
