I think this simply shows how well McCartney is completing his 70th decade (yes, 69 marks the end of the 7th) and how poorly Ron Wood is handling it. Any bar band can improvise and riff gloriously on this 3 chord classic. Ron looks worried about missing a chord. This ain't McCartney & Billy Joel.

@garyokee Actually "Get Back" is a two chord song. But Ron Wood being a 5th rate guitarist was probably nervous of making a mistake while playing with a real musician.

@jeraldogr - I think Ron just doesn't want to step on any toes. He's a fairly big legend in his own right. He's in the band that is considered by most to be the greatest Rock and Roll band in the world, meaning live playing on stage band.

Brian tried to get him to play some lead but I think he would have needed a little more incouragement from Paul, like Paul did with Eric during the Concert for New York. "Come on Eric, play for us. Eric Clapton everybody!".

@debjorgo Yeh I think it's unfair to criticise Ronnie here. McCartney is clearly in his comfort zone, with his audience and his band behind him. Ronnie is simply sticking to etiquette and not being cocky. Look how McCartney was at the Concert for George - I think he looked a bit uncomfortable there at times and not being in complete control, like he is used to being. Despite not doing much, I bet Ronnie's coming on added to the sense of occasion for those at the gig!

Tuve la suerte de ver a los Rolling Stones cuatro veces y a Paul Mac Cartney el año pasado en mi pais Argentina, estóy muy felíz por esto. Really great!! I'd been waiting.. ( hoping ?? ) for Paul and Ronnie to stand shoulder to shoulder.. ( Ronnie's righ against Paul's left ) guitars pointing in opposite directions.. both leaning into the mic.. in that iconic rock stance ( much used by Van Hallen.. remember them ? )... but it never happened. But then, Paul always has to be centre stage :-))
