    BTW i know ten guys with over 700 rwhp in their IRS, stock tranny, 03/04 cobras who beat the crap out of them every day and have no issues on stock motors. The bottom line is: the 03/04 cobra is the most powerful car out there for the money. HANDS DOWN! I own an 03 cobra and I love the R35 GTR which my homie has. My pullied 03 cobra 463 RWHP takes his R35 with exhaust all the time.

Everybody knows the diff in price and performance shows in a circuit race, one with chicanes, fast strights, long and short curves, etc. Lap times is what is all about when you design high performance cars, not quarter mile times in an empty street while waiting for the green light in the middle of nowhere. The cobra and its last century live axle will not stand a chance against the GTR in any racing circuit in the world.

  • Cobra sucks, V8 and superchrged against a V6 TT and it stuggled that much. Also, the cobra is a chepo, and in just one year will loose much of its value. Whats even funnier is that the ford dealer will give you more money for a 350Z trade in than the mustang and the 350Z having 30K miles more on it. That is something you do not know, but need to know, jabroni.

  • Get over it pal. The pinacle of Japanese technology and power got beaten by a Cobra. And I fail to see a huge difference between the two. Less than a liter of displacement difference, both are force fed, they weigh about the same, etc. This race among others just goes to show that the over-rated GT-R can't defy the laws of physics like some people think. Its as heavy as a GT500 with less power. The GT-R is nothing special. Accept it and move on.

  • Get over what? one cobra struggles to beat one GTR and you want to place every mustang in that scenario? You deal with the fact that many major reviews out there gave the GT-R a test and proved that your gaystang aint worth it and cannot do it time after time tracks, straight aways, etc. GT-R's are quoted as 480hp but I have seen some of them only put out 420 at the wheels on a dyno. Let us know when your trash sets better world records than the GT R.

  • I'm no fan of the Mustang. But this race proves that the GT-R isn't beyond a simple formula like power/weight. Nothing "struggled". The Cobra beat the GT-R. Plain and simple. I know 98% of Mustang's aren't up to the task but don't get all butt hurt and make excuses for the GT-R when it loses. Like your dyno numbers. Does it matter? No. And what world records? The GT-R is FAR from being on top of the food chain when it comes to track times.

The dyno numbers do matter when there is significant differences like you stated weight being one of them.   • Ford isn't garbage. I'm a GM and Mazda guy, but Ford makes the best trucks hands down, and their build quality is one of the best. People still hold Ford to the standards they used to have, but they've changed. I don't care for Mustangs in general, but I have huge respect for the DOHC Mustangs (GT500's, Cobra's, Mach 1's, etc.)

    BTW used Terminator Cobra's are still selling for over $30K these days. Much higher value than a 350Z =P

  • I agree with the quality of ford trucks but thats as far as I go with due credit for them. Investigations have shown ford purposely selling vehicles that break down at about five years because they make more money off parts than the car itself. One model mustang having more value than all 350Z models means nothing, you are talking about an exception compare on KBB and youll see what I am talking about. I not taking away the fact that certain mustangs have potential, just the average garbage.

  • now once you build a gtr lightly to say 600+ hp like some of the videos already shown, it runs 10 on street EVERYTHING full interior and a comfy ride. anyone can make a car faster. im sure there are civics that can blow both cars out.

  • Good luck making a 600 horsepower GT-R reliable. A twin turbo DOHC 4-valve V6 has a TON of stuff that can go wrong (don't try to bring up 'oh its Japanese so its automatically reliable'). And as you said, anyone can make a car fast. Its not just a GT-R that can run 10's with 600 horsepower.

    BTW I'm no fan of the Mustang but you should do some research if you think the live axle is so terrible. Similar to saying push-rod V8's suck. The design is old but the tech is very modern and good.

  • go watch the full length of this video. they did two races. from a roll, the cobra won easily. from a dig, the awd twin turbo won w/ launch control. what a shock. not really. and even at the END of this video. the cobra was catching him at the end of 4th gear and the gtr let off. gtr would win the quarter thanks to awd and launch control, but from a roll, it doesn't have a chance against that cobra.

  • You are right about the two cars, I watched a modded '03 Cobra walk a GTR from a 40 roll, but then get beat from the light. And the price difference means you could buy 2 Cobras for the price of the GTR if you can find one at sticker. Both are awesome cars, unfortunately for me, they are better than mine!

  • The driver is sitting on the left side, meaning this is the American version of the GTR. Those are not limited in speed unlike the Japanese version, which is indeed limited at 180KM/h (112M/h).

    Maybe the driver chose not to go any faster.

  • some people are so stubborn and don't know anything. 1st, there is no way that gtr was using launch control. STOCK gtr's have gone deep into 11's @ 120+mph. And if there were any turns, the Cobra would get raped. Heck, a STi or Evo would kill a terminator around turns. The GTR wins pretty much EVERY comparison test and is super fast around any track, stock. I love 03 cobras and Z06's, but c'mon.

  • You are right, but do not forget that it IS still a nissan, nothing glamourous about that either, in a few years the GTR will go the way of the Supra, which I might add is not bad, but it has no legacy like the F40, countach, diablo. That said, that is a freakin good nissan, but 99 of 100 owners of the GTR that are able to buy an exotic say its still a nissan. Nissan is a nissan Ford is a Ford... neither of them are a geo, a civic, or some crap like that... there is a BIG difference.
