Really? It's been a long time since I saw you guys WAAAAAAAAY back in the 90's at the New Earth and that other short-lived coffee house in Olathe -The Big House, if I'm not mistaken-and I always thought it was sad when you guys broke up. Still, I'd like to have seen this one remastered, re-mixed or maybe even re-recorded. As I recall, you guys weren't happy with the way it turned out.
Metallica NEVER did a studio cover, only boot leg cd's included a version which bared no resemblance to the recordings on the cd and that casts dought on its authenticity, there was once a great guitarist from Swansea, back in the 1990's I only recall his name as steve, he just dropped off radar / moved to england leaving behind a stack of material in the studio and his " March " sounds way too much like the " metallica " one doing the rounds LoOoL
Yes definitely not Metallica. I'm John Gibson, the guitarist/vocalist for Aeturnus (the go in the lower left on the back of the album). Aeturnus broke up in the lat 90's and I formed a new band called Dirge. Dirge released a demo, and had a song featured on the Living Sacrifice tribute album. Now I run a video game studio called Tripwire Interactive, and Dirge appeared on the soundtrack for our game Killing Floor.
I've heard that they (Metallica) did do a version of it, but I've not seen it anywhere except the internet and even then, not everyone agrees that it IS them, so who knows?
Not really sure. They kinda disappeared after this. I heard that they had done a demo for a possible 2nd album, but nothing ever materialised, as far as I know. You could always try a torrent search.
In a way, yes it DOES have a "Justice" era studio/demo sound to it. And sorry to burst your bubble. You could always just kick yourself and pretend it's me, LOL.
Dude, thanx for the proof man. I kinda doubted it was Metallica when I first heard it a long time ago, but I didn't know. Still a cool song, and I still like Metallica.
Your welcome. I always rather liked the song the 1st time I heard them play it live (a LOOOOONG time ago...). Though I wonder what it would sound like if MetallicA DID do the song... :)
Holy poop. I haven't heard this album for...geez...musta been 10 or more years. Awesome!

LMAO
Ive been convinced for the last 10 years that this was metallica.
To be fair though, it really does hint at the studio sound from the ...and justice for all era.
I dont know whether to thank you or kick you LOL
