That's pretty neat. Mine's a v2 because I preordered it and it's a New Zealand (European) version. I'm guessing only Japanese, and POSSIBLY American DS systems could have v1 firmware. But that is pretty cool. I don't really know if you could call it firmware though. I can't see the point in knowing, although it's interesting to know for sure.

I dont know why but my ds lite is playing korean games and roms even though I bought at Gamestation in the uk.

There's no region coding for the Nintendo DS, which is why it can play games in other languages. If it's playing illegal games, then you should return it to GameStation as it's been modified to non-standard DS.
