But I think that it is important to note that during the 60's Diana Ross and her image helped bring whites and blacks together in this country during a time that even the government couldnt do that. This may look simple, but in 1969 this was HUGE for a well known white television personality to embrace a black woman like that on TV. Motown did as much if not more than other civil rights activities at the time to bring people together.

By the way, just a few years earlier to this, to have a white male put his arms around a black woman on TV would have resulted in screams from many southern affiliated stations. This was 1969, and it looks like times changed almost overnight. Pretty proud of that.
