  • We regret to inform everyone of the passing of JR Mass, bass player in this video and brother to the chord player, Joe Jr., also playing here, on Jan. 5. Our deepest condolences to his family and brother Joe. The world has lost a true bass harmonica master.

  • there's 1 jerk who dislikes this video

  • Thanks, Harmonicats - my late father used to buy your records back in the 1940's and today, at the age of 77 I still enjoy your music. Did I say MUSIC? YES! THAT was MUSIC at its best - keep it up, please!!!

  • thank you for bringing back some lovely memories!!

  • Great stuff. My grandfather had one of your albums, "Peg O' My Heart" and I inheirited it after he passed. I still enjoy listening to it. Glad to see you guys still up and running.

  • a HUGE thanks to all of you who have posted wonderful comments here. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from The Harmonicats.

  • I bought two of your LP's from a record store a few years ago and was stunned by the quality of the recording and the way you played the harmonica's. Really incredible on a nice stereo system.

  • Love the song. I'm 20 and I want to say I prefer "vintage" music over current pop music.

  • i love the harmonicats, they did harmonica boogie then george harmonica smith took that number and did boogie with george, then mark hummel took from what george took from the harmonicats and did the humble bug. C chromatic in 1ST.

    can't beat it!!!!

  • @sonnyrunner There's another connection between the Harmonicats and current blues harmonica players. BMA winner Billy Gibson was a student of former Harmonicat Pete Pedersen.

  • @arkaburger If Mr. Gibson was fortunate enough to know Pete Pedersen, or as I call him " Uncle Pete" he met one of the coolest guys ever. A great player as well. Just for the record, Pete was a successful musician and composer and wrote most all of the arrangements for The Cats however he was never a member of the group. He was in the Harmonica Rascals. He was also Jerry Murads' best friend since they were kids in Chicago.

  • Brilliant choice of song.

  • Thanks for sharing....

  • I own this record! Picked it up almost by mistake, and now its always part of the collection. Jerry Murad is great!

  • these guys can sure play.... I pleasantly enjoyed listening. thanks for posting...

  • What is the button or lever which the middle guy has and is pumping up and down on his harmonica? I used to have a neighbor who played harmonica with a lever, but I was too young to ask or understand what it did.

  • By pushing the slide button on this harmonica called a chromatic harmonica allows you to play the sharps and flats of the scale, same as when you play the black keys on the piano. Thanks for viewing.

  • My Dad used to listen to these guys way back. I like them now too, is that a sign of getting old? No. It is a sign of wisdom, maturity and good taste. Classic players!

  • I've always heard of you guys from way back, and now its good to see you still playing your hearts out!!

  • Hallo! Thanks for Your very beautiful playing!

  • oh my god! those harmonicas are huge lol

  • Is this the same group that played on ED SULLIVAN that had the little short guy who would try to get in by the microphone and they shoved him out of the way until the last notes????????

  • The group with the little guy is Borah Minevitch and The Harmonica Rascals, one of the funniest acts in vaudeville. Jerry Murad left the Rascals, formed The Harmonicats and recorded Peg O' My Heart. To this day, The Rascals are mistaken for The Harmonicats since they were famous and The Harmonicats,an unknown group at the time, had the hit record. An understandable case of mistaken identity.

  • I'm just wondering who is doing the posting here under the Harmonicats name. I'm a son of a bass player that has played in a 3 piece harmonica band since the early '60's. We knew Jerry, Al, and Don well as well as Dick Gardner too. Thanks.

  • How does he do the bending with the chromatic harmonica?

  • Hello Gentlemen,

Thanks for your very good playing !

A great song, I did enjoy it.

    Greetings-Chris-The Netherlands (Europe)
