you were able to enter disney's contest...probably online, or maybe they were randomly chosen in the park(it was very discrete since they didnt want the surprise to slip-we only found out when we were there to work at 3am)...all they told them was they entered to win a picture in front of the castle with no one in the park. just put spangler family in the search box and then you will find the videos with them being surprised on mainstreet
That morning was SO much fun! So many of us all getting excited to surprise them. As soon as we were done I had to RUN to Jungle Cruise to get it ready to be open by the time the family got there.
I remember hiding out in the crystal/jewelry (it wasn't then) store and bursting out 4 or 5 times before the family was even awake. I was lucky enough to hide in a spot next to a window with a curtain and peek out and see when they got there. I remember the cue was Magic Kingdom. Early early, but at least all those CMs got paid for the "shift."
this event was actually on the cast member site...anyone who was a cast member was allowed to grab this as extra hours...no one even knew what we were taking hours for it was just listed as "press event"...
Thank you so much for responding to my Spangler Family Video! I was at the other end by the Emporium and we could actually peek through the cracks in the firehouse door and saw them come in before we all rushed out to greet them. That was so much fun to do...and get paid for it.
your welcome! :)yep!it was soo much fun! i was just so nervous thinking i was gonna get a late point when i saw the line for the bus to get to underground...then the line to clock in...
i was hidden in the area that looked like paris, i forget what stores are right there...all i remember was some of the characters were playing in the store and accidentally knocked a display over shortly before they arrived...
We had to be there at around 4am, because I remember there was NO ONE on Main Street when I first stepped out there, not even other Cast Members. I looked up at the clear dark sky and the castle was all lit (yes, it is lit at night because people staying at the Contemporary/Polynesian/Grand Flo can see it 24/7), and it was just a very magical moment for me.
just saw this! it is on all night, ive been in the magic kingdom after the park closes. that is when they have the 3rd shift, and they are repainting, cleaning, power spraying everything (which is why it always looks like it rained the night before at opening). they also have additional lighting, storm lights so the workers can see what they are doing
my favorite peter pan was a part of this event! anyway, it's amazing you were able to get that footage! thx 4 sharing! :)

Was that all the Cast Members from the Magic Kingdom? Or all the Parks? What an amazing experience for everyone to be a part of.
I would love to return to WDW to work again.

Well, I was JUST about to go to a Disney web forum to ask if the castle was lit all night :) I assumed it was for that reason but wasn't sure.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure it is left on all night, because it is visible from the resorts that surround it.

it stays on all night. the color is pink. they start the music around the park at 6am.
Quintinlicious 2 years ago
Why would they start the music so early? Can it be heard from outside the park?
headmouse 2 years ago
the music is not that loud. its just like the music you here while you walk around the park.
