You guys have come a long way from Andy just pointing at the pedals to showing what he's actually doing and making the videos a lot more exciting. Keep it up.
So, I really like this pedal, but I'm pretty sure I prefer germanium sounds, in general. My question, tho, is about germanium's reliability. I've heard so many different places that it's really finicky w/ temperature changes and that sort of thing, but just HOW much of a problem is that, usually? I want a germanium fuzz real bad:/ lol
Honestly I haven't checked out the PGS reviews in a while. Last night something drew me to this video and I was pleasantly surprised. Awesome sounding versatile fuzz pedal and Andy nailing a sweet Rory Gallagher tune tonewise and playingwise. Just awesome!
Ever consider expanding to do a 30 minute guitar/effects review program? There are plenty of arts specialty channels now. It'd kick ass even if it ended up being internet only!
@chadworthman It would have to be on the net. Guitar players and musicians in general are a thinning herd these days. I know I would watch a half hour to even an hour long video guitar magazine with reviews and interviews. Kinda wish I had the start-up cap to create it myself. There's a ton of advertisers out there who'd love it for sure. Maybe someday......
Hey Andy! I love the fact, that you play a G&L for Strat tones... and I've never even started wondering why. :) The PGS review page is the first thing I watch every morning while having breakfast. :) Keep up the great work! Cheers
So, I don't wanna be the "I-prefer-their-earlier-work" type, but I feel like, more and more, these videos just turn into little solo jam sessions. Show off the pedals, amps, and guitars and what THEY can do; don't just show off. I still appreciate the service you provide, and I can't see any reason why I wouldn't stay subscribed, but I hope you take my attempt at constructive criticism seriously. The fanboys may just come to hear Andy play, but some of us still come to learn.
@yobhsiFehT I really think Andy is trying to present the gear in best light (not just show off his chops) but I am in agreement with you - what I miss are the verbal explanations of what things are and what they do. But we're going to be in the minority, the bulk of comments I read for YouTube demo sites are "play don't talk" and go off the second there's any chit-chat whatsoever. The gear knowledge is what made PGS unique on YouTube so I hope they head back in that direction. My.02
@moucon Personally.. I love to hear Andy talk. He's got a voice made for radio, and a knowledge almost unparralleled amongst reviewers. But but not much can be said about a pedal that can't be heard from the pedal itsself. You don't really care if the pedal has sleek lines, or what grade of metal it is made from. Andy still does it for guitars and amps though.
@moucon Well in a simple fuzz pedal I don't think much explanation is needed towards what each knob does, I think unless you are a total noob to pedals the drive, level and blend knobs are pretty standard and straightforward
Hey Andy, did you start out by going for guitar lessons (classical), or you're self-taught? If it's the latter, any resources for some novice to advance?
what do you guys recommend for a fuzz pedal that could resemble the black keys' tone the most? any help would be great! awesome videos again and again pgs
@Aero7Xguitar I like both those pedals CaptainErn suggests, but I am having a great time with a Dano French Toast with an MXR Micro Amp in front of that. Really wide band of fuzz character there.
@spotthepirate I've often wondered if they made a deliberate decision to not list song names because of potential copyright issues or to not violate YouTube's policies.
Hey, could you guys do maybe an Andy's Corner on the differences among overdrives, distortions, and fuzzes? Like circuitry wise, etc. What makes a good example of each.
I think you guys would do a good job of explaining everything.
andy just went completely off with the hendrix..sickkk
