Well, if every other video I've ever watched on Youtube (and I do mean EVERY OTHER VIDEO) comes out fine and in stereo, I doubt my settings are off. And even still, the way you described it is exactly what the song should not do, it should mix in both speakers.

It's not the video OR your settings. Most other videos aren't songs. TMBG (like some other artists) write and record their music so that certain pieces come out different speakers/earbuds. You'll notice that the quieter "left" music is slightly warped. It makes it sound cooler. If they superimposed the extra instruments and warped voices and divided it between speakers, there would be no distinction between the instruments.
