@leopower7 Hey, i'm not American and your right, America is not the only country:) it's a pro(ish) level amp any pro or semi pro or any one that works for a living around the world would be able to afford it.
dude, i love this tone, but i went to record in the studio with my jsx and can't seem to dial it in. can u remember what setting you used here please on the head and where the mic was placed? much appreciated.
and btw you play well. forget the idiot below mugging you off
@StormOfAshes1 Hey dude, this was a while ago but i believe my settings were something like, -ultra channel- master 5 - pres 5- res 8- tre 6- mid 6-bass 8- gain 4ish -volume 2ish and fat switch off.
i used a tubescreamer with normal boost settings drive 0 -tone 12'oclock - level full.
i used peavey triple xxx speakers which are not great recording speakers, i spent a long time finding the mic 'sweet spot' just off axis, 'inbetween' position. thanks for the comment mate, hope it helps,:)
@StormOfAshes1 P.s, as you may know, these amps have a real fat mid sound and can sound a bit flabby, so i was carful with the mids also running the mastyer high helps the tone BIG time. keep in touch, let me know if this helps:)
@shaminky hey there fella thanks for your advice, did exactly as you said and tonight was a recording success, straight off the bat. much appreciated. :)
@StormOfAshes1 Hey dude, glad the settings worked for you, i love the jsx tone, i think it is a great metal amp, it just needs to be dialed in:) i had a listen to your myspace tunes, really likeing your tunes, nice'n brutal!
what kind of cab is that with the girl on it ? lol
tone sounds awesome dude ! that is rare that i think an amp sounds good over youtube..defintely looking into a used combo model of this or a triple rectifier
@lintball0190 Hey dude, it is an old customized Laney 2x12 with Peavey xxx speakers, took me a long time to get this tone, just need to find the right mic placement
I love my jsx. I have the 120 watt head running through a mesa 2x12 cab with vintage 30's. Now every other amp I play on sounds like crap compared to the JSX.
JSX is a really good amp. If you mess with it enough you can get a really great tone for just about any kind of metal. I got my Mid and Res up to max, Pres at 8, Bass at 5, gain at 6.5 and treb at 7. Fat switch on. With those settings i get crushing rhythm and a lead that will cut through any mix. That's with passive duncans and a 4x12 cab. For anyone struggling to find a good tone, i'd suggest trying something similar to that, unless your playing with active pickups, then it's probably diff..
@arrestedshrimp Hey man, sorry for late reply, i own a 5150 mk2 and the jsx is definately smoother sounding, and as i understand it the 5150 is even more ballsy than the mk2, so i think the 5150s have that ballsier punch to them and the JSX is smoother and bit classier sounding, i will be putting up some 5150mk2 clips soon....i think if its just an all out metal amp you want then the 5150s/6505s is the way to go, the jsx can do everything pretty well, 5150s are pretty cheap used too..:)
Yo, if you havent done it yet, try 6L6 GC tubes in this head. I did it to my old JSX and im so sad i sold it after that. it sounded SOOOOOO GOOOODDD for metal. slightly sub par to a 5150/6505, in gain factor, but amazing metal tone
Good tone I must say, mine didn't sound as good, got rid of it and pickup'd a XXX 60 watt which i enjoy. don't know if it's as good sounding as yours though. i switched from 6l6's to el34's and i'm pretty happy with it.
yea your right the EQ is very sensitive but thats how good amps are mesa boogie dual and triples are like that any one ever play them H&K switchblade head they look bad ass any way my JSX came stock with JJ el34s i love them
One thing I love about this amp is it actually brings out the character of each guitar that's plugged into it. And, you don't need a distortion pedal to play metal with it, but pedals do sound great through it! (IMO)
yeah i know man, i have the head and matching cab ur right well worth every minute id use nothing else!, do u have the standard el34 tubes or 6l6gc tubes?
@lefthandpath33 Hey ! yeah i really like the JSX it definately has a voice of its own, metal wise there is lots more brutal amps out there but i like the fact that the more you tweak the active EQ the more you find out about the amp. Pres 6, Res 8 and master 6 with the channel volume at bedroom level! what speakers are you using?:)
@lefthandpath33 hey dude i use the ultra channel - gain 4.5, mid 7.5, treble 5.5, bass 8. i use a tubescreamer to give it some extra juice, it makes it more aggresive! How do you like your JSX? :)
@rattlehead001 hey dude i use the ultra channel - gain 4.5, mid 7.5, treble 5.5, bass 8. i use a tubescreamer to give it some extra juice, it makes it more aggresive, EL34's are working for me at the moment but i may change soon, you know what it's like, always searching for more tone:)How do you like your JSX? :)
@shaminky I love my JSX but just like you I'm always searching for the ultimate tone. Is that RG made of mahogany? How does the Evo 2 sound in mahongany? I have an Ibanez S series with Evo's but the evo bridge is way too trebly for my taste.
@shaminky I got a pair of JAN-Phillips 6L6's and it made a world of difference. I lost a little of the Brit mid range thing, but gained tons of bottom end and the amp tightened up considerably believe it or not. A word of advice for those changing the tubes on your JSX. The bias test points apprently are'nt useable. They apparently give you improper readings. I love my JSX, with EL34's or 6L6's. Great video by the way.
You have defiantly dialed in a good tone.

You are completely wrong. If you play like shit you will sound like shit no matter what...
fodtidiot 4 months ago
@fodtidiot YOU are wrong. this guy sucks and he sounds good because of the super expensive amp.
leopower7 4 months ago
@leopower7 Thanks for watching, its not 'Super' expensive, just an everyday peavey that loads of people use, nothing special:)

@fodtidiot sounding good is about having money -- that is ALL
