  • um do u kno if i can make a cage thats jus about 5 feet long or so cuz i have a 1 year 3 foot boa and growing and i want to make him a cage ASAP cuz i have him n a 40 gal and i want to make him a cage so he can grow and not be stunted. if so, can u like give me any options cuz i only have 100 dollars like can i make a cage with that much. if, so can you message me and tell me what i need to buy for my project. THANKS.

    DynastyWarrior :)

  • @Dynastywarrior00 Depends on how big is your boa, I wouldn't do it shorter than the snake so that whenever he likes he can make a full stretch...as regard the money, I can't tell you how much it would cost you.. but surely that it will be less expensive if you live in the US. I live in Europe and from what I read you can buy wood for example a lot cheaper than here. you can find some ideas here on utube for doing an inexpensive cage. maybe if you do a frame and back made of plywood and

  • @4200006200 2 sliding glass as doors and try finding a nice background, you wouldn't spend that much...

  • @4200006200 thanks but i already looked all over youtube bellieve it or not but they all are good help but none of them explain the most important thing how much is this gonna cost u kno they always talk about how big it is n all that stuff n never mention how much it actually cost them but i really appreciate the help. didnt kno u lived n Europe lol :) but yea i think i can find somewhere like Lowes or Home Depot to look for the things i need my boa btw as i said is 3 feet long at a year old.

  • @Dynastywarrior00 when I was planning my cage I first planned how it was going to be and I wrote everything then I checked in shops or by telephone how much the material costs before buying anything so that I could plan right knowing that I have enough budget for what I need. You should check prices for: artificial turf or what you are going to use instead, ventilations, heatmats or bulbs- depends also on how cold is the weather in your country,

  • @Dynastywarrior00 thermometer, thermostat, hygrometer - check on ebay if you find only expensive ones...water bowl, background, silicone - check for non toxic because some when get hot because of heaters will be toxic for your snake, wood - I covered the bottom in formica I can clean it fast and I think theres no need for marine plywood like what I did.. Glass for the front, some tree logs and decorations like rocks artificial plants etc, I put the tree log in 5% bleach/ water for a day and

  • @Dynastywarrior00 then clean it well with clean water as it was cut from a live tree because of mites or stuff like that, some locks for the doors if you are using sliding doors (better safe than sorry) also use glass strong enough especially if your cage will not be very wide because if your snake compress against the sides and glass it could crack and it could get hurt etc..when building your cage don't leave any sharp edges anywhere because this is your snake world and it will go in every

  • @Dynastywarrior00 corner. if you are using a ceramic heat emitter or bulb for heating always make sure that the snake has a guard around the bulb which he cannot get off or pass into it, you can see some ideas on the web and also you can see some heavily burnt snakes because there owners assumed there snake was never going to reach there!! - this goes also for the sharp edges I told you before. make your cage easy to clean - plan this good, be sure that it has some light in the day from a window

  • @Dynastywarrior00 etc so your snake have a rotation of day and night, use some type of hiding place they like to hide especially when young they feel secure preferebly on on the hot side and one on the "cold" side. Use your imagination and get some ideas from others who share there project. Hope this helps..

  • Were did you mount your heat tape?

  • @X311xjp under the artificial turf

  • Really nice

  • really cool cage

  • really cool cage where did you get the background

  • @boas29 10x , I bought it from a local reptile store

  • very nice build

  • how do you get the background on it?

  • great cage, what was the song playing in the vid

  • @pabinspain thanks. The name of the song is Marigold, By Winter Moods

  • Nice you should check out my custom made viv it's amazing

  • good job man!

  • good job man!

  • This is an absolutely amazing tank, well done to you a big pat on the back, snake looks good too.

  • @Chumpyglassmaker 10x ..

  • Do you have a hidebox for her? I was wondering only because my Boa never seems to leave hers. :-(

  • @Kxberg yes I have two, one on the hot side and one on the other. Mine does the same too, I think they feel protected inside it.

  • Yeah this tank is awesome, I was wondering where you got the plastic backdrop for it, i can't seem to find a similiar one, let alone the same.

  • @Kxberg 10x , I bought it from a local reptile store. I couldn't find any on the internet

  • @4200006200

Thankyou, very sincerely, I'm doing a very similiar build to yours, I actually am building a cabinet for under where the tank will lay, and instead of those doors you have, I'm going to use plexiglass with hinges along the bottom and three "backyard fence latches"(can't think of actual name) on top to keep it closed.. along with weatherstripping to keep it air tight. Also, Instead of a heat pad, I'm going to cut 2 circles and put metal screen on the top so that my heat and

  • @4200006200 light lamps.. can stay onstop along with air vents like the ones you put in. I was also thinking about maybe a real small exaust fan.

  • @Kxberg Thanks, it seems that people like my job... The plexiglass with hinges as doors and the latches to keep it securely closed would be great I think. As for heating I like the ceramic heat emitters( but it's just my idea), but here where I live I'm good with heat mats, just keep attention that the metal screen keeps your snake far enough so that it can't burn itself if it touches with it. About the fan just keep attention so you don't have draft because I think your snake could get sick!

  • @Kxberg whatever you do when you plan your cage; Keep in mind that it is safe for your snake and also is easy to clean..... I don't know what snake you have, I know something about boas but I'm not an expert.

    hope I helped you ..

  • Wow! Thats all I can say. Great job man!

  • Inti min malta sihbi ?

  • my snake wont be very jelous if he saw this. im looking about to build my own. it wont be as good as this lol but how much did sumit like this cost

    thanks

  • @wholikesket I don't remember but it wasn't cheap overall!

  • Don't you use any bedding over that green mat, I'm just curios about how you clean it.

  • @Merkurio24 No just the artificial turf, I clean it with soap and water

  • best fucking cage ever dude i wish i could do that lol

  • Thanks'

  • This is the best home made cage Ive seen on youtube. Looks amazing.

Can we get an update now that its been almost a year? Any problems arise or changes youve made? Thanks!

  • @johnmgd Thanks for your comment.. I didn't make any changes but I was thinking of adding some more artificial plants .. Only once I had a small problem when I found my Boa under the turf but then I solved it by putting 2 rocks. Also I could solved it by attaching velcro to the turf and formica like I have on the Left end of the cage. But apart from that I never had any problems.

  • that's a very nice cage man great job building that

  • looks like a pro cage :)

  • @SimTune Thanks.

  • Hey man nice video! A couple of questions i want to ask. How big was your boa when he went in this cage? What type of wood did you use? And where abouts did you get the background from?

Thanks, and check out my vids please, i just got a new common boa! :)

  • @obsessedwithsnakes 10x, It was about 104cms. Malamine chipboard for the sides, back and top. The bottom is marine plywood covered with formica. I bought the background from a local reptile store, I couldn't find any on the internet.

    Nice snakes and vids also...

  • **Awesome!!!**

  • I got a question for you, how do you protect the belly heat tape from poop? is there any smart way to seal it?

  • @mmcau 10x for your comments, they are made so you can place them inside the cage. I just made a piece of plastic which is attached to the wire coming in the heatmat so it protects that part

  • nice setup

  • wow... very nice work! So much effort into it.

  • I am impressed....WOW....you did an AMAZING job....the cage looks amazing and it seems like it was done from Reptilian Cage Builders!!!

Thank you very much for sharing with Us your great and accomplished project!!

  • @robyr77 I tried to do my best .. 10x a lot for your comments

  • thats a beautiful cage.....what kind of glass and frame use to make the front and the doors? -KSHCZ

  • @KSHCZ 10x, Aluminium frame and laminated glass...

  • best custom built reptile cage, vivarium what ever you wanna call it, i have ever seen on youtube :D

  • @pidgeonchillin 10x for your comments....

  • perfect

  • Nice job, has given me some ideas for my cage build. My plan is vertical though with more branches

  • good shit, 2 thumbs up

  • Lucky boa lol nd I love da architectural design nd interior I have to build one juss like this for my geckos

  • I really like your design. Very simple yet beautiful. I am planning on doing a build just like yours. Where did you get the front design with the glass and doors. That has been the only thing I can't figure out. I have a 26" male Ball Python and a 4'8" Red Tail Boa. They both have 40 gallon cages now but she is due for an upgrade. If I build her cage in my office it will be 8.5'X2.5'X2.5'. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • @mikey1371TX . Look first of all I'm not an expert, the few things I know I learnt them by reading and asking experts :) but I am happy that you like my cage and I'm happy to help you a bit. I think your planned size would be great, but the bigger and the more space it has I think the better it is... the front design is aluminium, it is custom made to my dimensions. here where I live you can buy pieces of aluminium by length . Normally are used to built doors or windows for back yards etc.

  • wow dude u did a great job

  • woh that back round look 3D

  • nice man..im getting a RTB and making a terrarium in a window well that i will enclose and have all live plants..its 5' x 4' x 4'

  • @honnoand000 thanks, wish to see your yours when it's ready...

  • @4200006200 ya..i actually might get a chinese water dragon since its more arir space

  • @honnoand000 Yeah I like them and I like bearded dragons also..

  • Where did you get the rock background? Ive looked at the pet stores and can't find it =/ Nice cage/design too btw!!

  • @JamieHust I'm from Malta, a small island in europe so I think it wouldn't help you if I tell you where is the rep store : )..... I searched a lot on the internet but couln't find any that size and luckily I found this.. 10x for the comments

  • good job ......where you bought the door .. thx

  • @chanfolio10x. it is custom made to my measurements, it s aluminium
