@homousios Isn't it a tragedy that one has to leave school sometimes to see the bigger picture! I think that speaks volumes about what's wrong with schools these days! It should be the case that schools are places where the bigger picture is EASIER to see!

Well, my friend, you may indeed be one of those special sorts of people who can manage to entertain, if even briefly, the idea of becoming a theoretical chemist! Either that or your lab experiences were much like mine - routine, creativity-killing, cookbook-driven time vampires of otherwise pleasant afternoons. I recommend taking the organic series (with labs) and the physical chemistry series (without labs) just to make sure you're not meant to grow up to be a theoretical chemist...
