@vrikey I forgot to mention, this is a wonderful video, makes you wonder how long the place will remain standing. I imagine some specualtors have considered converting it into a modern casino or something, because of its strong retro quality - man, who knows what'll happen.
I used to drive past this park for years as a kid in the 60s, while out hunting with my dad - nice to see it's still around!
@redneckman211 If you want to be scared for the rest of your life? Go down to the basement/loading dock of this building with only a candle...maybe you will see DIED people and MOBEIS....might scare you so much, it may teach you proper english! YOUR FOREWARNED!
So I have a couple questions for you. Have you ever went to the spotters stand up on top of the grandstands or that section off the back? Also how long ago was it closed down? And last question, once you get in, are there any blocked off or locked parts of it? I'm actually thinking about driving all the way down from Washington just to come see it:)
@Crxracing9 I stayed away from the roof, because it's too visible to the caretaker and police. The facility was closed about 1967. Actually, the entire facility is supposed to be closed to the public, however there are several ways in. Once in, it is all accessible, but potentially dangerous.
Thanks for the quick reply. From other pictures I've seen, it does not seem to me that during operation of the building that the promonade was easily accesible. Looks to be that there was a wall between the end of the grandstand and walkway. also it looks as there were doors sectioning off areas of the hallway. Maybee a way to section off luxury seats from reguler seating???
thanks for the video. I drive by this place all the time when going to see my uncle from CA. Loved this building as a child. When you walk all the way up to the top of the grandstand, is their a way to get to the long promonade with the turrets? What is under the promonade hallway? did it look to have a resturaunt of any kind?
@jewllake Thank you for watching. I'm very glad you enjoyed the project.
The promonade hallway is accessed via stairs or grandstand. Under the promonade is simply open area visible from below.I imagine there was food service, but I found no significant evidence.
Wow, nice video! I was looking up Panasonic GH2 and found it then had to watch the whole thing its amazing. What a beautiful building just wasting away
Toilet paper still lingering on the rolls, after 45 years?? That's hard to believe, it should have crumbled away entirely 4:00
