To Sportygirl. I got such a kick out of the linebacker, and then I got this
Jesus on Christmas It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season. How I personally feel about this celebration can be understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don’t care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just get along and love one another. :)
@bolleoy that may be true, but the world views "X-mas" as a politicly currect way of Christmas for nonchristian families, which in my opinion shouldn't even celebrate christmas.
Does not believe that a Muslim man with a sword in he has to kill people, or that he threatened the world with terrorism, please identify this religion, I swear you will find comfort and you will find something you're looking for the rest of your life and feel free to read translations of the Koran, read the translation of the life of the Prophet Mamedsaly God upon him
If you want to know more about Islam, I hope that you continue with me
Saying xmas isn't taking "Christ out of Christmas" because Isn't in Latin or Greek x mean Chris or make the sound of "Chris". Am I right? But yes I don't like how materialized Christmas is.
@jessimaca77 Everyone I know realizes He wasn't born on Christmas day...it's just the day people choose to celebrate and remember it on, not a "lie" we have bought into.
@Xin1994, Actually... I beg to differ. Christ in Greek is Χριστός. But I see where you would get the X from. I think it would just be simpler to say Christmas instead of Χριστός-mas.
does anybody actually SAY "X-mas"? That seems like an imaginary fight that some Christians try to pick. I can agree with the sentiment that we shouldn't replace Christ in Christmas, but do a little research. The "X" in Greek was the letter "Chi" and was actually the first letter in the word "Christos" or "Christ". It looked like this: Χριστός. The letter X actually became the symbol for Christ - like today if we were to say "JC" for Jesus Christ. It wasn't originally meant to "X" out Christ.
I watched the Easter Linebacker at my school today, and I was laughing so hard I was crying and I throught I was gunna pee my pants. I gotta show everyone this video XD
I love this video! Thing is... the history of Christmas actually does point to the pagan holiday of Yule. Christians jumped on the bandwagon much later. And artisticworship is right... The greek letter Chi (which looks like an X) is the first letter of Christ. It's kind of like B'way for Broadway. It doesn't offend me.
Wow I just noticed that "Santa" and "Satan" just moved the "n". I can't agree more that christmas is over materialized and the purpose for celebration has been lost.
X actually in the greek alphebet actually represents Christ. A Russian friend of mine was trying to teach how to say merry Christmas in Russian, when he tried to write it out, when he got to Christmas, he started with a x before he realized he was righting it in Russian and I cant read Russian
@Dohbator You're right in the first part of your statement, but I guess when they set up christmas they didn't really have a way of knowing what time of year Jesus was born.
But they're not trying to promote violence, its a vid trying to show the aggressive stance some people take over these things (like- you can't have any other fun at christmas, that sort of thing, which is rubbish) in an exaggerated way to show that it is the wrong way to go.
@Dohbator actually, it is believed Jesus was not born in December; it is believed he was born somewhere in fall. But, His birth is celebrated on the 25th of December because that is the date the three Wise King had finally reached Jesus and gave him gifts. Notice the Christ in Christmas. this video is just suppose to tell you that you should not be ashamed about being a Christian, and if you are a Christian, you should act like one.
You are right and wrong. There was a census going on in Bethlehem and also the shepherds were tending to their flock. which indicates that is was during THEIR summer. The only reason why we celebrate it at this time is because that is when the church decided to celebrate it. It has nothing to do with the wise men. Plus the Bible does not say their was three of the men it simply says their were three gifts. Don't try to correct someone if you are wrong too. =)
Just FYI---"X" isn't replacing Christ in Christmas. The Greek work "Christos" is involved, or in reality its first letter. That letter translates to the English "X". Hence "X-mas". All it is is an abbreviation. It isn't blasphemy; if it's anything it's merely yet another example of laziness in America...
I do, however agree with the fact that people tend to place too much importance on gifts, Santa, etc and forget the true purpose.
Hey bro, just letting you know that the greek letter "Chi" is basically a large X with the two bottom parts of the X descending slightly below the line. This is the word for Christ -> Χριστός - which also means Messiah, anointed one, aka the expected savior of Jewish prophecy.
I do agree people have no concept of the fact Christmas is built on Jesus the Christ. That God loved us so much he sent His son to save us from our sins. John 3:16. See also Romans 3:23,6:23, 10:9-10. :)
Come on guys Santa Clause is just a fun tradition for kids and there was a man named Christopher who went around on christmas and gave gifts in order to bring happiness to people which isn't that a large part of gods message and religion is for your own personal beliefs who are you to declare your beliefs to another by tellling them what they should believe
Yeah; however, the idea of Santa Clause has be so obscured that not many even make the connection between Christ and santa clause... or Christ and Christmas for that matter. Just Elves, Presents, and Lights... Thats all I see about it on the media nowadays. I agree that Saint Nick was a true Christ-follower, but his image has been demoralized into a icon for christmas "presents". The idea of presents is to give... but all people see is something to receive.
@SlashGNR1993 the only reason we have a holiday called Christmas is because of Christ's birth. Santa Clause is actually a distraction from Christ to get people away from him, thats what Satan wants you to believe, its all about the fun(sin) to get you away from Christ, Satan doesnt want you to get saved, ever since Adam and Eve, he has made it his purpose to get as much people as he can away from Him
@hctrpgda first of all celebrating just one day out of 365 days a year is neither enough to allow yourself to be called a christian nor is it enough to get you saved if you want to be saved as a christian then you must worship jesus 24/7 and the idea of Santa Clause i remain adamant is a holy idea where a few see it as the only point of christmas it isn't your job to correct them
yeah, yeah, yeah... we know... it dates back to the 4th century when Christianity became more the "state religion" of Rome. At that time, many romans (who weren't really Christians) blended pagan religions with Christianity. If you want to get picky... the calendar we used was created roughly 500 years after Jesus by a monk (Dennis the little) and is at least 4 years off (more likely 6)on his birth.. so you want to get picky about DAYS?! When do YOU want to celebrate the birth of Christ?
yeah, x was part of the chi-ro...that backwards p with the x thing across it. it was easier to write it than Christmas a billion times...like drawing a heart instead of writing "love"

What's wrong with eggnog?
And how come everyone says X-mas?
dachampster3 4 years ago
Nothing is wrong with eggnog.
Saying X-mas is taking Christ out of Christmas, the Christmas Linebacker is just a funny little Christsian Skit showing that it's wrong to say X-mas. They made the Linebacker to make it funny.

X means Christ in Latin somehow. Its a shortened version.

I don't think so.
shadow9235 4 years ago
I read it in a Latin book.

Cool, but still, when people say "X-mas", they are saying it meaning to X out Christ.

X is an abbreviation for the Greek "Christos," from "chi" (X) the word's first letter.
X has been used for hundreds of years in English as an for Christ.

I left out "abbreviation" between "an" and "for"
Proofreading is important, kids. Don't make the mistakes I did.

I just learned that today at church.

So should we start calling him Jesus X?
"X died for our sins." I don't think so. Get rid of the X.
