I love this duet from Romeo et Juliette. Kaufmann and Natalie Dessay sing the last half of this duet (See Natalie's 7 minute YouTube and go to 2:35) with great feelings and I like their rendition better, because Natalie does not try to OUTsing her partner as Angela does. Anyway, it is a beautiful love duet.
They deserve the award (against stiff competition) for the two biggest egos in opera. What an egotistical performance! No wonder Roberto gave her the heave-ho.

@FromTheSouthernTip What's your definition of ego? Can't you tell when opera singers are trying to be faithful to the situation in the libretto? Yes, this is only a concert version, but they want to give some semblance of young lovers' passion and breaking hearts because "Il faut partir." I know Angela has a big ego, but Kaufmann is considered modest according to interviewers.
@Cantormatis ...it looks like someone ran over a hedgehog, scraped it off the road ....and slapped it on his head, anyway i love Angela, and i do rate Jonas.

@TheAwakeFallen and @hugoforth Kaufmann doesn't shave because he wants to get away from the heartthrob image and from the people who make too much of his good looks. To him one's appearance is ephemeral. Believable good singing is so much more important to him than his looks. Why don't you respect his art and intelligence rather than judging him by his appearance.

there is definitely tension between them. But that's great. They make it even more realistic .After all in life, when we speak to the one we are in love with we get so confused.Sorry, Roberto, you are great, but a person could and should love more then one ....Who knows, we are just guessing....may be it's show
It's one of the best versions of this aria I have ever seen... it's obvious both of them are very committed into their performance. They seem to be very close to each other indeed. Thanks for sharing!
those two are INTIMATE also behind stage, believe me. It's an open secret. Beeing married doesn't mean a lot for madame, it's not her first affaire and not her first tenor....
Sometimes I wonder how intimate they get with each other off the stage even though they are married. I sense very strong bond between the two. I have not seen Gheorghiu so well connected with a male singer.
she sings great like always but I think now when she aproaches 50 years, she went out of her mind by wearing this short dresses. Not only that she does not have the age for such short dresses but she always had very ugly shapeless legs and big knees! Angela dear,do not try to compete with Netrebko because you can be her mother! Accept your age and wear something apropiate.

I am sorry Angela that I upset you but that is the truth. O.K, you are 44 but that is old and your legs are indeed very ugly, too short, big knees and no shape. You have no legs to show and your bottom is also too big. Wear long ladylike dresses and cut your hair. It is too late to try to look girllike! You have a great voice but it is a pity that you spoil everything by showing things that should be hidden
What nonsense! First of all she is not yet 44 she is still 43 and let her remain that for years but her birthday is this coming September (don't forget to send a birthday greetings card!). She has great legs and a fabulous figure I have just seen her live in a concert in Munich and she looked stunning in her dresses. Her voice was as glorious as always but perhaps she could have chosen a better program.
I would soo love to hear her perform alive. I think her voice is amazing, and she's altogether just amazing on stage. Obviously Kaufmann has positive effect on her, so she does on him, and they'll continue performing together.
Kaufmann is excellent, but Gheorghiu dominates the scene and is in perfect vocal shape. This has been a good year for her voice, which sounds healthier and more solid than in some previous years. She also has quite a presence. She and Kaufmann make a great partnership, no doubt they're singing more and more together (according to Gheorghiu, they'll be in London singing perhaps their first Adriana Lecouvreur in 2010).

Excellent performance by both singers. Perhaps we should start a fund for a hearing aid for GERMANYFrankie if he had trouble hearing Herr Kaufmann.

Kaufmann SHOULD AVOID this Angela Gheorghiu.
She'd only tarnish his reputation and singing career with her sub-standard level.

Kaufman should perhaps to stop singing with Angela Gheorghiu.

Wow. Grow up people... This is beautiful singing. I think it's great that we have footage of live performances like these, good or bad.
And sexual tension? I do believe this is "Romeo and Juliet", is it not?? Give me a break.

No, no! Alagna is unsurpassed, classic Romeo! With Vaduva and Netrebko.
But Gheorghiu voice is not for Juilietta entirely.
