The German state still exists as defined in the Versaille Treaty. There was no reunion. All they did was throwing out the sowjets, liquidating their civil administration of Middle Germany (aka East Germany), privatizing their public property and merge it with West Germany. Grundgesetz in the west and constitution in the sowjet zone were no state constitutions but civilzed frameworks of military occupation. The eastern territory is still under polish and russian administration but NOT annexed.

Beginning with 1880 all major European powers looked for a reason to start a new war. after the Sarajevo murder, Austria started a war against Serbia, which was supported by Russia. You cannot blame Germany alone for WWI, all states were responsible, there was not good/bad side.
