Bream did embarrass himself in his attempt to play the lute for Stravinsky while Stravinsky was busy at a rehearsal. It was a pathetic pandering, and unfortunately taped. Who among us are free of such error? I'm sure he never did that again, and the incident teaches us all, so that we don't go there. It was a chance for me to say "Julian, don't do it!'; a rare moment of superiority over our endearing friend and inspiration.

Never get enough of this wonderful piece of music! My favorite versions are this one by Julian and the great Scott Ouellette! How can one not hear this and failed to be lifted up in spirit?
