  • I miss this cartoon, Galaxy High, Lazer Tag, Jem and the Holograms, Camp Candy, Thundarr, Goldie Gold and Action Jack... even the Star Trek cartoons. (I covered a few years with that list but they were good years.) I would swear that this cartoon inspired the young adult series 'Monster High.'

  • Medusa girl is hawtsauce

  • I would love to have this series on dvd.

  • Anyone else think the Dracula guy was kinda based on Fonzie from Happy Days?

  • check out Gravedale High Wiki

  • I miss when Rick Moranis was this famous. :D

  • There seems to be hundreds of cartoons about schools filled with monsters and other magical and supernatural creatures.

  • @CyberLance26 It makes sense as there's a lot of story possibilities there. You have plots relating to the school setting, plots about the various natures of the monsters/magical beings themselves (and because the setting allows for many different kinds you aren't restricted to just one or two 'types' of magical being) etc. You can use both fantastical themes and everyday ones.

  • @Wright805 Yeah. The "ghoul school" concept is an old, old trope. Plus, it plays into the metaphor that surviving high school is a living nightmare in itself.

  • P.s. Dracula boy and the girl were always my faves...

  • I remembered watching this........

But the gravedale high turned into.......

    MONSTER HIGH

  • What a show!

  • ...I used to fancy the medusa girl ..i had issues :)

  • @chubbylilloser85 What I liked Vinny

  • @chubbylilloser85 Doozer was cute!

  • @chubbylilloser85

    You weren't alone.

  • Thank you Nedroid

  • Thank you Neroid.

  • This class needed a succubus!

  • @fslayer1290 Like they'd get away with that on a Saturday morning in the early '90s.

  • This was back when Saturday morning cartoon themes had the quality of a hit single.

  • This - Galaxy High

    Hell yeah! :D

  • thanks loved this so funny and better than galaxy high!

  • It's amazing i can never really remember the names of most these programes but then i see the intro and im like...OMG that was unreal

  • Seems like NBC wanted to do Saturday Morning cartoons for SCTV stars. "Camp Candy" for John Candy and "Gravedale High" for Rick Moranis.

The only SNL-based cartoon NBC did was "The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley".

  • I think we found the secret origin of edward.cullen....the vampire sparkled when his wings came out, and he walks in the sun...

  • @Chisatosakuraba Any traditional vampire can survive in sunlight; the whole business about sunlight destroying vamps is a Hollywood invention. They don't like it, because it weakens them to where they're no stronger than a human, but they can handle it.

  • @MaskedMan66 As long as they don't sparkle, I could care less what sunlight does to a vampire. :p

  • @StrickenRecord The phrase is "couldn't care less" and cheap shots are so... cheap.

  • @MaskedMan66 Indeed, they're great for getting rid of those extra pennies that never want to leave your pocket. X3

  • @StrickenRecord Too right, mate!

  • EPIC RICK !!!

  • This must've been Monster High's ancestor.

  • @Pt018 It's a very old trope. Other shows and comics along the same line include Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, Rosario+Vampire, Casper's Scare School and the webcomic Eerie Cuties.

  • @AdamYJ I see.

  • I

    LOVE

    THIS

    SHOW

    .

  • I used to watch this all the time I forgot about it and now I see it again and im just like yeah yeah yeah

  • AHHHHH KNOWSTALGIA !!!

  • such a great show

  • I have never seen or heard of this cartoon when I was growing up.

  • @Starcomet Me too

  • I actually saw this but I only remember one episode

  • totally forgot this one!!

  • This looks bad.

  • @InterpolFL Looks are deceiving.

  • I loved this cartoon! I remember when they had a promotion with ToysRus and you had to write down the passcode and then give it to your local toysrus and they would give you a prize. I remember the prize was a frisbee with an image of Gravdale High on it. I remember being really disappointed with the prize. lol

  • I don't know why, but the only episode I seem to really remember was when the werewolf was learning how to drive.

  • One of the best Saturday morning cartoons, hands down! My favorite episode was "Fear Of Flying".

  • I have heard of this show, but our NBC affiliate never aired it!

  • i don't remember much about this cartoon and out of nowhere the this theme song popped in my head after like 14 years of never thinking about it.

  • anyone who saw this in spanish let me know how was it called (in spanish of course)...pls....thanx

  • @HectorCHEPS La escuela de los monstruos

  • @TyrannyofTheMasses hey muchas gracias....aprecciate it ;)

  • @HectorCHEPS no problem :)

  • awwww man i remember this !! sooo cool.

  • :37 seconds in...I remember liking this show.....but was that a sparkly vampire?

  • @zathusura78910 HOLY CRAP, YOUR RIGHT!!! Meyers is a plagiarist!!!

  • I know I wasn't the only one that couldn't hit that last note when trying to sing this.

    Gravedale HIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH!

  • Oh wow! Not only do I remember watching this cartoon, but I remember having the Happy Meal toys of it too.

  • i could seriously fucking cry...i miss this cartoon so much. boomrang only shows really old cartoons

  • Ooh, I think the last line might not be hooray but "Parade for Grave Dale High"...

  • omgg the nostalgia i remember this show! man watching this just jogged my memory! XD

  • 80'S AND EALRY 90'S, THE GREATEST PERIODS in cartoon history.

  • I remember this Show - I didn't really like it but I still remember the Intro.

  • I vaguely remember this show. I know it came on Saturdays man those were the days. I had regular TV and they all showed jsut cartoons from 6am to 10am. CAn't get that shit nowdays :(

  • Where was Count Floyd when you needed him?

Though I found out that the new Freddie himself, Jackie Earle Haley, was the surfer dude gillman...although I wonder if he wouldn't want that skeleton to get out of the closet...

  • tv was best years back now it's years of the reality crap and the cartoons have nothing on what we had as a kid even Stephen Spielberg did one in the 90's called galaxy high it shows you how good shows were back then that he made one :) wish it was 90's again

  • john candy had camp candy, martin short had the completely mental misadventures of ed grimley, and rick moranis had gravedale high. three sctv stars that had american cartoons

  • Oh, Man. I forgot all about this show. You got to wonder if they'll ever release these shows on Dvd. I remember how I use to not like getting up early to go to school, but I'll always wake up early on Saturday morning to watch these cartoons. There are alot of comments like this, but They really don't make cartoons like this anymore.

  • Boy they sure don't make cartoon's like this no more 80's 90's was the best TV now is just bad =(

  • @GameWolf360 true!

  • @rbd2789 *high five* i know and thanks to DVD's we can at last go back in time to the old day's when TV was good got a few of my fave from back in the day on DVD im like a kid once more =3

  • @GameWolf360

Everyone thinks their own childhood was the best. Give it ten years, people will be nostalgic for... I don't know, whatever kids today are into. Twilight? Johnny Test?

  • i loved this show when i was a wee tot.

  • You can't find stuff like this in Michigan no more.

  • What came out first? Gravedale High or Galaxy High??

  • galaxy high was 80s gravedale was early 90s

  • Used to come on at like 6 30 in the morning in about 1993. I used to get up while the rest of my house was asleep and watch it laying on the living room floor with my Eggos and Count Chocula. Ha I had a pair of Steve Urkel pajamas and NInja turtle slippers. I'm 27 now and it feels like yesterday

  • I'm 27 too. And your story is just like mine. I wish I could go back.

  • Anyone remember that cartoon that featured football players mutated into zombies and would fight each some competition?

  • Yep. You talkin' bout Mutant League. That was the joint, too.

  • Oh the Ghoul Bell's a ringin', Now it's time to begin.... DIG IT AT GRAVEDALE HIGH! It's the school that we're singin', where the misfits fit in! DIG IT AT GRAVEDALE HIGH! Whooo! You can crawl, you can slip and slide, BUT DON'T MESS WITH THAT GRAVEDALE PRIDE! Graaaavedaaaale Hiiiigh! Please take your seats yeah, we're dyin' to meet ya! Graaaaavedaaaale Hiiiiigh! Go with the spirit, and chillingly cheer it! HOORAY FOR GRAVEDALE HIIIIIIGH!
  • you 4got the to add the evil laugh at the end, lol.

  • "It's about our school that we're singin'."

  • AHHHHHH, the name didn't ring a bell but seeing the intro certainly did! That and the weird Rick Moranis lookalike... XD

  • Lookalike? That was him!

  • I remember this show! I used to watch it, and I loved it! Thanks for posting this video!

  • I loved this. Something different.

  • Huh, i thought the show was "GraveYARD High".

    Eh, my mistake.

  • Oh my god! I used to watch this when i was going to kindergarten, about 18 or 17 years ago. Haven't seen it again till today. Brings back memories of a blissful time.

  • idem brother me too....i'm so happy!!!

  • I always wondered why Cleofatra was absent from the opening sequence; I know she only appeared in a few episodes, but she was played by Ricki Lake, so you'd think she'd have got some recognition.

I also didn't see the Invisible Kid, but that's perfectly natural.

  • She's Sid and J.P. on the bus, she's in one of the further lockers, but she's not on the steps at the end... weird. She actually featured pretty heavily in the show too -- she's in every episode and even had one nearly entirely about her pen-pal letters to that monster actor.

  • Really? I'll take your word for it; between the picture and the speed at which the bus goes by, I'd missed her completely.

And I thought I'd remembered that she was out of one or two episodes, but then it's been a while.

  • yeh he actually did lend his voice check it on wikipedia

  • I highly doubt Rick Moranis actually lent his voice to this show. Sure, his likeness, but not his voice.

  • Read the title "Rick Moranis in Gravedale High." It was him.

  • #Oh the school-bells are ringing #Now it's time to begin #Digging up Gravedale High! #It's about our school that we're singing #Where the misfits fit in #Digging up Gravedale High! #WOO! You can sprawl #You can slip and slide #But don't mess with my gravedale pride! #Gravedale High #Please take a seat, yeah #We're dying to meet you #Gravedale High #Go with the spitit #And chillingly cheer it #A rave (or possibly "Horray") for Gravedale High!
  • I think it's "you can crawl," rather than "sprawl," and I always heard it as "Hooray," but you caught a few lyrics I didn't.

  • You may be right... actually, crawl makes much more sense. Thanks for that, I'll ammend my lyrics for the mp3 file I found.

  • No problem; I like to help where I can.

  • @DocRossim "Crawl," not "sprawl," and definitely "Hooray!"

  • @MaskedMan66

Yeah, I think you already corrected me on that...

  • @DocRossim Yeah, but I wasn't absolutely sure at the time; I am now.

  • Forgot about this show until right now.

  • Damn, I saw this in the side bar and said "oh shit!, I remember that!" - haha, but I can't remember much from this tbh.

  • You insult both religion, as this show. Do you even realise that cartoons aren't made to be realistic, but to be fun and entertaining?

  • I guess I didn't make it clear enough that I was being sarcastic. Whoops. :)

  • Thank god, cuz it's ridiculous.

  • You were being insulting is what you were being.

  • @SAMagic What the heck are you talking about, you racist!

  • @GoliathGrowler : If you can take a statement like "I object to this show as it shows that people of various differences and backgrounds can get along" seriously, then there's something wrong with you.

    (I wasn't being serious. Peace y'all.)

  • @SAMagic Well, it's hard to tell when people on the internet are being sarcastic. I can read what you're saying, but I cannot read the tone. Apologies.

  • @GoliathGrowler : No worries!

  • I miss this show.

  • I remeber this show haha what the hell ever happened to rick moranis anyways?? its like he fell off the face of the earth

  • He retired from acting a good while ago.

  • He might be in the new Ghostbusters movie! ;)

  • @PanterA1984 I don't know about that. Some people say he will, some say he won't. If he refuses, he might be written out somehow.

  • @GoliathGrowler I just hope it gets made. It'd be nice for as many oldies as possible though!

  • I want the lyrics so baaaaaaaad!!!!! T.T

  • You're not the only one. I looked for ages! Didn't find anything. >.>'

  • slip and slidde yeahhh, gravedale highhhhh, i wanted to be the vampire dude he was cool lol

  • this takes me back...They dont make cartoons the way they used to now adays. I miss the late 80's early 90s caartoons

  • cant belive this is on here. this was an awsome cartoon

  • I fucking miss this

no one seems to remember it

    it was so goood!

  • man! cant believe this is here..takes me back early 90s growing up in kenya..

  • I cant believe this is on here. First it didnt last long. Second in wasnt popular. You truly can find anything on youtube. Thank you so much for this.

  • I still remembered the melody to this song and I was only 7 years old....awesome. Nice finally seeing this intro again.

  • Rick Moranis MADE this show!

  • I vaguely remember this as a kid, but I've grown to love it once I rediscovered it. So why did it only last for one season? This show had potential!

  • Galaxy High was in the same boat, even more popular then this show as well.

  • Wow....I forgot this cartoon! It's been years.

  • Oh my god... I forgot all about this. Its been nearly twenty years since I've heard this music!

  • Amazing! i have not even thought about this once in about about 15 years. Memories...

  • That little Frankenstein dude reminds me of me cousin

  • Oh my God! Amazing! I totally forgot this existed. :D

  • i loved this as a kid duzer was kinda cute shame you would have to wear sunglasses or go blind if you met her lol great show

  • First off, I gotta send love to the person who posted this, the theme song absolutely rocked the house, I so wish there was a longer version, I'd download it on MP3.

  • The only thing I remember about this show is that Rick Moranis was the teacher, but I know I loved it as a kid.

  • Omg I spent ages trying to find out what this was called, I remember watching it on TCC.

  • This is one cartoon I used to watch as a kid that I forgotten about.... least till I saw this video! lol. It wasn't too bad, I gotta say!

  • Sid the invisible kid, reggie the werewolf, vinnie the vampire, Gil the creature from the black lagoon, frankintyke the frankinstien. Those are the only ones I can remember.

  • oh- you forgot Duzer the Gorgon girl and JP Ghastly the 3rd (the zombie boy) and Blanche the zombie girl

  • He was cool to me, I even liked Blanche, is that the zombie's name the creature from the black lagoon character and the vampire. I forget most of their names. But I remember Frankentyke. I also remeber the invisible kid and that Medusa looking character. I also liked the werewolf character if I remember he was the brains of the show, right. Again I forget most of their names, it has been a while. Excuse the repeat message of mine I thought I didn't submit it.

  • The black lagoon creature is Gill Waterman, The Vampire is Vinne Stoker, The Medusa is Duzer, the werewolf was Reggie Moonshroud. They were all my favorites when I was a kid too.

  • AHH MAN I haven't seen this since Germany that was like 11 to 12 years ago. This was another overlooked Hanna Barbera cartoon at the time.

  • Frankentight was anoying

  • Wow this brings back memories. I remember being so mad at Tom Brokaw as a kid because he kept interrupting this cartoon to cover the 1st Gulf War!

  • I had totally forgotten about this! which I feel really ashamed of because I loved it...

    the theme tune was awesome.

  • Love this show

    the vampire are so cool

  • Whenever the inevitable conversation comes up with people I know about old cartoons, this is the only one that NO ONE ever remembers. I'm like, "dude, it came on right after Camp Candy. Do you not remember this shit? Remember the episode with Franky and his Gumbo?" They usually walk away at this point.

  • It didn't last very long, even though it was one of my favorites as a child. So it doesn't surprise me that no one remembers.

  • i loved it but it seemed to fade away maybe some parents group where up set by monsters being the key part of a cartoon for kids, altogether skipping the part about equality and friendship.....God some people!

  • lol - i know! i loved this cartoon though - i always liked spooks and monsters and stuff when i was a kid :p

  • @woollyfeet You're not alone. I remember being amazed at the sight of anything associated with monsters, ghouls, and demons when I was a child. Wish they eventually release this show on DVD.

  • it didn't premire in 1991 it premired in 1990 the year that the simpsons's first season had 13 episodes like super mario world cartoon by DiC.Gravedale high was by Hanna Barbera.

  • i loved this, fancied vinnie

  • LOL, I was gonna do the same thing... I think I had a cartoon crush on Travolta-- er, I mean-- Vinnie.

  • Travolta, huh? I guess he sound a lot like him. I always thought Vinnie was closer to Henry Winkler's Happy Days character the Fonz.

  • I agree with you, but figured that that comparison would be obvious enough to speak for itself.

The reason I pictured Travolta was due to Vinnie's incessant use of "teach" to refer to his teacher... a la Travolta in "Welcome back Kotter"

  • Yeah, it's very similar.

  • I meant "say that"

  • Yes, Vinnie was awesome!

  • The lyrics weren't very good, either.

  • It was as lame as Rick Moranis himself.

  • This show was kinda a cheezey if you ask me.

  • true but brings back memories

  • Yes, it definitly does. 1991 was a good year. You had shows such as the Simpsons,The Flash,Parker Lewis Cant Loose,The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Tiny Toons,Captain Planet,What a Dumby, Clarisa Explain's it all and Nickelodeain's Fifteen around that era. Definitly good time's. Peace.

  • Thanks for posting this up I kept forgetting what the hell this cartoon was called I thought it was Gravemount High but I see it's Gravedale High.See that's what happens when you try to remember a cartoon that was stuck in the middle of over a dozen other cartoons created back in the 90's.

  • This was one of the few 90s toons that I could get in to.

  • I don't care what anyone says, this show is a classic!

  • Rick Moranis has got to be one of the most underrated actors of his time. I've been looking for this show since I first saw it in the second grade. Thanks for posting the clip.

  • haha! i forgot all about this great show! Thanx!
