Great conversation very moving. Dan thank you for sharing somthing so close to you. Sound like your father gave you more gifts than you realized growing up. My father too taught me lessons and gave me gifts that I will carry with me until I die. I hope I can do the same for my boys.

I can feel Dan's yearning for his father's love and approval, to this day. An artist that he is, he's lucky he can express this yearning through song and literature. I hope he'd channel this also to his son. By loving his son.

In the same format as Charlie Rose, Jian and his guests are provided enough air-time for an in-depth, wholesome exploration of lives/careers lived thus far. Too bad that most talk show hosts who have neither the time nor the interest in actually reading someone's entire book or listening to someone's entire music recording prior to an interview.
