I have a 6 year old boy with frgile x syndrom. People thinking he is normal, but he didn't speak, he can, but very very bad. I hope that people learn more about that...!

I have autism and I am a girl. I was never shy, just extremely agressive. I wanted to be alone and if people wouldn't let me be alone I would physically hurt them to make them leave me alone. My nephew has Fragile X. If he doesn't he should. He seems to match all the criteria. The kid is so for out in left field he's not even in the ball park any more.

I must admit, i never knew that this can affect females as well as males. It makes perfect sense since it affects the x chromasome though. I guess it is like haemophillia, X linked which mainly affects males but can affect females. Am I right?

im not so worried about their cognitive function ...... but i am worried about the association of fragile x with Mitral valve Prolapse; the latter making them more prone for infective endocarditis, septic emboli, or mitral insufficiency....all of which can be prevented.... talk to your cardiologist. It is handed down mutation on the X chromosome that the mother has from birth resulting in the lack of a protein that causes mental retardation and sometimes autistic like symptoms. The mother can even be tested as a carrier before the baby is conceived. It is 100% purely genetic. Seriously do your research.

@niccarstob Dude I don't even know if my kid has fragile X yet, as I haven't been tested. And we are very cautious about vaccines. Seriously do your research. It is caused by a genetic repeat on the X chromosome present at birth in the mother and passed down through 50% of the women in that particular family line. It is the most common single gene cause of mental impairment. IF you want to argue vaccines, argue them about something that hasn't been proven like autism.

I am not sure if it does not lead to genetic abnormalities, that is yet to be seen, but vaccines definitely do in some way either cause autism and other disorders, or inhibit a gene that some people have that cause autism and ect. People lets face the facts. These are our children! Vaccines do keep them from getting some germs but their are worse chemicals inside the vaccines. Until there is full evidence and not by anyone pharmaceutical involved, i don't trust it!

I don't know what has been going through the heads of the pharmaceutical world, but it is clear Autism isn't the only problem. Whether its population control or a mistake, idk but its evil. Plus living cells are used to make vaccines. There is no telling what other microbes can be found. this is the case with polio vaccine

My little baby brother was unfortunately born with both FXS and severe Autism. He's 7 now and rarely communicates with more than two words, although he does make an effort. He's still amazingly sweet and smart.

Fragile X is not on the ASD, it is a different condition, but shares some of the same characteristics. Also, some people with FX also have austism. How's that for confusion? It is found in 1 of 4000 boys and 1 of 6000 boys.

Fragile X refers to an improperly formed X chromosome in case anyone was wondering with about 200 CGG repeats (CGG are nucleic acids). Thought I'd clear that up as this video isn't too informative.
