I truly believe that if these kids had funding for more after school activities like singing, band, chorus, sports, etc. they would not only do better academically, but it would stump out all of this behavior. It would give them structure. An alternative to "thug life." If only they could get enough funding to make it mandatory. I bet that it would work.

I really wish people would stop w/ all of the stupid racism. It is not a black or white thing. To understand why these areas are so bas it is essential that you look deeper into the issue and observe the events that allowed this to happen. Too many of these kids are virtually set up for social and economic failure. We need to work on ways to change this instead of perpetuating hatred. Every problem or ailment or anomaly has a root it is a little something called 'cause and effect'. If I get cancer it is either hereditary or caused by some outside influence. Of my daughter becomes a stripper or a prostitute I need to look at what I did to drive toward that place in her life. The problem began when we were brought to this country. Most northern whites didn't want to live among black because blacks were different. Southern whites saw blacks as property.
