This version is 10 million times better. Marco has such a powerful metal voice, the chorus part is amazing where he reaches an octave higher and the verses are also very cool. Shame on Tuomas, Marco is a male and he can sing higher than Anette. I'm sorry give me thumbs down if you want, but Marco is my God, and i really loved his voice with Tarja together. Anette's voice just doesn't complete the feeling:( I wish they released a second version of DPP with only Marco on vocals:(

Now that is open for much conjecture.... and well, Toumas is not sharing.

My personal take ( and nothing more ) references several things. Tuomas is writing about Tarja I believe (as many of his songs were ) about his feelings, his almost obsessive love for her and her running away, so to speak. Where he says he never met I take to refer to his never telling her his feelings, but she is clearly his muse in so much of his music.

Hmmm.... IDK. A lot of the songs he brings in a bit of a dischordant note, sometimes even a snarl..... especially in his work with Tarot. That is where i get the Mustaine influence, not so much this song.

I love Dio and Ripper too...I just don't think he is a constant clean singer like them. And I actually like that about him. He is up there with Timmy, Bruce, Dio and MAtt Barlow for me. And above the overrated Halford.

I love this version. I don't think Marco should be the lead vocalist on all the songs, I like the mix of "Marco songs", "Annette songs", "Marco/Annette songs" and the like on Dark Passion Play.

I do hope that he gets several songs every album that showcases his voice. It was a crime that it took several years to give him something like The Islander. However, I love this new direction the band is going that gives Marco more of a center stage role.

I totally agree with you. Nothing can take away from the epicness that they accomplished with Tarja... but too many peoplee are way to quick to rush to judgement. Anette sang many of the old classics very well at Wacken, I love Marco's expanded role...

and let's not forget that Angels Fall First was not exactly an instant classic either.

Lets give them a little time and another album to see where they go.

yeah, Marco is pretty amazing on this. It's a good reason to listen to Tarot... I would nto want Marco doing all the vocals for Nightwish, as Anette is even starting to do a good job on the Classics, but man, I hope they let Marco have a few more songs on the new album. Something about his voice makes me think Mustaine meets Bruce Dickinson.
