  • i just realize.. phenonmenon is a cool word.

  • for english speakers: the correct pronunciation is "pay-chA---coo-chA".

  • Someone give me a good topic for one? I have to do one tommorow for university.

  • @tipoomaster anything you know something about or have researched, and that you can find good images for.

    Good luck!

  • @tipoomaster uvic!

  • @spiraltraining Its also become used in schools. My University made students do presentations in this format.

  • Nicely done, spiraltraining. I appreciate the very nice overview to a presentation style I only heard of about 6 minutes and 40 seconds ago. You've done a nice job explaining it to me. Never mind the people who scold you for the pronunciation of the term -- what really matters is the execution of the technique, I suppose. No need to apologize for not saying it "correctly". Keep up the good work.

  • For my Pecha Kucha project I chose the topic of STEREOTYPES. i FEEL THAT IT IS SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE IN THIS ROOM CAN RELATE TO BECAUSE, WELL LET'S FACE IT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US IN THIS ROOM HAS BEEN STEREOTYPED IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

  • This is crazy method!!!!Amazing!I have been in the lecture cover Pecha Kucha and there were 5 or 6 examples!it was so interesting! And I didn't want to sleep during it like I always do)))))

  • The only thing that's killing me is the repeatedly HORRID pronounciation of a wonderful word. The "correct" one is just as bad. Sorry, but it really is distracting. Aren't you in Tokyo? Sorry for the snark, but it's a wonderful idea and this is terribly distracting.

  • Apologies, MedeaTor, for my bad pronunciation. I'm in the UK and have only heard other people use the word a few times myself. I'm really sorry it distracted you so much.

    :-(

  • I'm sorry you found my Pecha Kucha about Pecha Kucha boring, tyraii!!

You're absolutely right, the format is indeed just about time and slide number limit, and I've seen several PK presentations that weren't particularly interesting, but I DID know I only had to endure them for 6 minutes and 40 seconds before I could heave a sigh of relief.

    !!

  • Your presentatiom is boring!! Pecha kucha is nothing special!!! Its just time and image limit!!! It will make it short, but not more interesting!! What a stupid people who think time and image limit is a main key to interesting presentation! Wow, I quess you were really bad presenters if this is a groundbreaking news for you!!

  • ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN' BRILLIANT! One of the best I've seen. You will be imbedded in my blog soon...

  • Aw, you're too kind, mizkcreations! Pecha Kucha wasn't my invention, I just put together a little narrated slideshow about it.

Glad you liked it so much, though ... tell all your friends :-)

  • Outstanding. I'm teaching Presentation Skills in a US High School. At some point, I'm going to introduce the students to Pecha Kucha. Maybe I need to teach the administrators as well!

  • Thank you for your flattering words, JCFallon. I hope your High School students apply their learning from your lessons om presentation skills ... the business world in particular really needs better presenters!

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you with the training for the administrators - go for it!

  • Very nice and inspiring :).. Thanx for sharing

  • Thanks, Bathoon. Glad you were inspired!

  • Great! I've just agreed to do a pecha kucha based presentation with some primary school children this has given me some great pointers

  • Glad it was helpful for you. Let me know how it goes with the children (give me a shout if you'd like any more help putting your PK together)...

  • Really good example of PK, as well as being highly informative about the format. Thanks

  • Great Stuff!!!!

A possible way to end those terrible 20 minute power point disasters and open up some REAL information flow and communication!

    Thanks!

  • Pleased you enjoyed it, HeavySmokerJenni. Make sure anyone who makes you endure long and tedious PowerPoint slideshows ses it!

  • works a treat! Fun to do as well.

  • Great! Thanks for the feedback, communicationcompass.

  • Excellent video and practices what it preaches by showing you can communicate a lot, clearly and concisely in the 6 min 40 second format

  • Thanks, sudejalisco - glad you enjoyed it and leaned from it. Spread the word!

  • Really useful (and enjoyable) - thanks. Will be trying this Pecha Kucha thing with a group soon.

  • Good luck! Look forward to hearing how it goes...

    :-)

  • Congratulations - need to look and learn more about the P K format.... certainly food for thought

  • Thanks, & glad it got you interested in the PK format. Let me know how you get on if you try using it for a presentation...

  • It's made me think about how I will do presentations. I like the 20 * 20 rule. Any anything to get away from the gastly bullets on a Powerpoint. Not sure about the teddies though!

  • Thanks for commenting, mikeyg169. If you want some more examples, just search here in YouTube for 'Pecha Kucha' and you'll find heaps.

Apologies for the teddies (actually, most of them are monkeys), but they were the only things that would sit still for me to practice to...

    ;-)
