Yep, I just did a search for "beagle dream" because I have my eight year old lemon beagle quite obviously having a dream of chasing rabbits or squirrels here on the floor beside me. Copper seems like a younger dog though, and much more active! (though this old boy still likes a 16 mile walk!). 5* video.

I guess it proves animals have the same, or at least similar, sleep cycles to people. REM sleep is when we dream; according to the latest theories in psychology, dreams are basically memories randomly accessed by the brain in order to process past experiences. The Russians found that having no REM sleep can lead to insanity.

There are healthy insomniacs, people who need little sleep? Memories? That is not understood either, why some have photographic perfect memory and other people forget faces, names or what they had for lunch. Dreams? Who knows, but dogs acting out dreams are cute. People? Not so cute including sleep walking (dangerous) and "night terrors".

I have a beagle which I think is crossed with a Basset. She is a stone cold rabbit killer. I suspect she shakes the shit out of them when she catches them, breaking the neck. The first time it happened I threw it in the trunk to bring home to let her parade around the yard with it to show my girlfriend, and after about five minutes she started to eat the cock, no kidding.

Go figure.

My girl dreams like this alot, it's quite a treat when she is sleeping on her back and her little legs are spinning mad circles in the air as she chases invisible rabbits across an open field. the barking is just so cute, she does exactly the same :) beagles ftw <3
