When I c videos like this, I don't feel guilty because sometimes poverty is as a result of the government nonchalant attitude. Many African countries especially West African countries do have resources and money but greedy and corrupt governance does not give the land anything to show for its possession. I strongly believe that once the gov'ts of countries like Nigeria change their greedy ways and start to feel compassion for the people, there will be a way out.
I do get what you mean, but I disagree, because one of the reasons their governement are so corrupted is because the world bank and others only lend money to those countries if they accept to let american, canadian, british, etc. enterprises settle there. The problem is that all those ressources are produced there but all the money goes to the enterprises
I disagree because even if they got LOANED money from the world bank, I doubt that the money the world bank gives them is going to be as much as the income from natural resources. Nigeria does not need loans from anyone because she makes so much money from gasoline sales. How much and how often does the world bank pay the African countries to let 'enterprises' stay? I do get what you mean, but I disagree, because one of the reasons their governement are so corrupted is because the world bank and others only lend money to those countries if they accept to let american, canadian, british, etc. enterprises settle there. The problem is that all those ressources are produced there but all the money goes to the enterprises

I disagree because even if they got LOANED money from the world bank, I doubt that the money the world bank gives them is going to be as much as the income from natural resources. Nigeria does not need loans from anyone because she makes so much money from gasoline sales. How much and how often does the world bank pay the African countries to let 'enterprises' stay? Regardless of income, the people in power still mishandle this money and keep it for themselves. Search for IYABO OBASANJO

Most of the third world countries' exportations are natural ressources
Most entreprises established in third world countries come from rich countries
Third world countries have a tendancy to import their manufactured products from rich countries at really high costs
The prices for natural ressources keep changing so third world countries can hardly plan ahead
The debt's paiements are bigger than the money lent

Oh well.. to fight such horror, African countries (especially Nigeria) need to have highly educated presidents in the future. It is sad because the current president is the first ever to have a bachelor's degree. Others were just bubble brains that were just concerned about embezzling it. Still praying for change.

I agree with you 100%. its what i think when i see malnourished children. Its shocking. I can't imagine my 2 baby boys going through a painful life like that! can you imagine watching your baby cry for food that you don't have to give?

it is shocking. it is even more shocking when we realize corporations satisfy our desire to have cheap products for our families use by expoiting women or child labor in other parts of the world. we don't have to feel guilty for our unintentional roll in promoting the very things we would never want for our children, but we do need to be AWARE. everything has a cost and if we are not paying it as the consumer than probably an exploited worker in deplorable conditions is paying for it...for us

there are many and inter-related reasons: the need to have more children due to high mortality rates in order to sustain the family financially be it the family farm or other ways. low literacy rates is also directly related to high birth rates.keep in mind that poor people in developping countries may be harming their families futures, but people in developped contries are abusing finite world resources and are harming the future of the planet and all species that live on it.
