Through all this dissing...the guitar has some great tones coming out of the body that are heard best in the lower registers, and through the neck pickup. It would have been nice to see the entire guitar...as that 18" bout is a mind boggler. Although...Epiphone came out with one a bit over 18...long time ago.

No, that's the MSRP. Although the actual price will still be thousands of dollars, it's definitely not 17,292 dollars. Get off of Gibson's website and go look at real guitars
Guys, I get the jazzholes comments but lets not fuck about. The guy can do whatever he wants with his instrument and people can feel that he is misusing it, at the same time. Not everything circles around rock mythos and music shop employes drooling over Eric Clapton. Some instruments are built for a purpose and they are rare - if we can feel disgusted that prize violins rot behind glass in some living rooms then we can be disgusted that prize guitars might at best see some pentatonic licks.
It's your guitar man and please don't be offended but my heart ached when I saw what you use this guitar for. I hope it treats you good at least. I am searching all over europe now for the kind of quality that the 60ties Gibsons had so I do have the bias of waking up in the middle of the night in the past thinking that someone is bending out some licks on a super 400.
@The666thBowelOfHell well from what i found out now a days they go for about $7000 jus buy an epiphone broadway elitist and swap the pickups to some gibson classic 57's it'll get you that tone
An Option is correct my Friend. No Harm intended .... I live near Kalamazoo Michigan where that Guitar was made. Gibson moved out around 1988. Heritage Guitar now uses the Building .. I had a 1964 EB 0 F Bass. I got it used in 1967 for $100 and sold it last year for $1800 .. Keep Playing, I know you will
just curious...i have a super four hundo non cutaway..non electric..pre war......have you played on the venesion cutaways or non cutaways for that matter......if so which has the tone you prefer....
thank you for getting my humor and being a good sport......I have not played the non electric pre war guitars you mentioned....sounds like they would be amazing
haha....you sound great man....keep it up......even if it aint jazz is still good stuff....and I would never call it rock......too intelligent to be rock
I love rigid people! Im so sorry that I didn't play jazz....I'll never do tha again. If I do I will make sure to pray to Barney Kessel for 2 weeks every morning.
Don't mind Jazzholes, man. You sound great! "thejazzman" would do well to remember that Eric Clapton used one of these on George Harrison's live performance of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Eric was stoned out of his mind, and he still kicked huge ass with that huge bear of a guitar!
dude just beacuse he is playing with a jazz guitar doesnt necesarily mean to say he has to play jazz you need to get over the fact that he has that guitar
By the way, a good early 70's without the volute goes for 7-9k while the pointed cutaway in this video was probably made in the 60's and is much more. I use a Super 400, an L5, a Barney Kessel Custom and the 400 is my favorite.
The Super 400 is probably the best production/limited production guitar made today. I don't like the sound of the amp in this video. Super 400 s sound best through old Fender 4-10" tube amps. The large (18") body needs lot's of speaker area to breathe. I have a real 1965 Super, a 76 Super and a 61 Concert. The Concert is absolutely the best for the 400. As far as price, if you can hear and tell the difference the price is well worth it.
Hi! I didn't have the chance to play with a "real" Gibson Super 400,but have played with a Line6 Variax that gave me the sound of this great guitar! A Variax is just a modelisation guitar, but the bests sounds that I've heard were the arch-tops sounds, and when I've recorded Lee Ritenour's songs with this sound, it was really cool, so having a real one must be awesome!Cool demonstration of its potential!
Hi! Great guitar! I've never played on a real one like this one, but I had a Line 6 Variax that a friend had lend to me that gave it's sound (modelisation guitar where there was this guitar, a L-5, Gibson ES-175, many greats guitars sounds and I've recorded songs with it, it was really super! Is it your guitar? 5* for the demonstration! BYE!
perhaps the best archtop guitar in the world and the most expensive too! sounds amazing, but u gotta show us also on clean sound playing jazz, jazz music is what this guitar is for
