The $24K number (promoted by conservative talk shows and Fox) was an Edmunds study, which, if you're familiar with them, IS IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING USED CARS not covered by the program. Do this math: 600K cars sold under the program x 10mpg fuel efficiency gain x 14K miles per year x $2.50 mpg = $2.1B gas saved a year by consumers which they can turn around and spend in the economy. That's over /above the bump in auto production.

Yes, there were some problems, and some downside, but the industry and the market could not have created this kind of activity on it's own. As far as your calculation goes, the most common transaction under c4c was old pickup for new pickup. The average mpg improvement in those was between 3 and 4. The 10mpg improvement is a joke. besides that, not car gets the epa average with the exception of prius types.

Again, number one car was the Corolla, average 26C/34H mpg. Compare that with 1995 Explorer, for example, 14C/19H mpg. That is a huge difference, my friend.

It's a problem because we're not teams, we are a country. 2 parties have consolidated power into 2 broad ideologies. From there, they work to pigeon-hole people into accepting all facets of that ideology in order to keep power within two parties. So you can't be a "conservative" and worry about global warming or you can't be "liberal" and worry about how government spending. End result is either bad or no legislation. We need more moderate views on both sides or a true third party.

Guys like this often point out some of the religious things that our founding fathers spoke and wrote. However, when it came to the most important document they ever signed their names to -- the U.S. Constitution, they made sure the only references to a god were the date (A.D.) and prohibitions like those against establishment of religion or religious tests for public office. Not that they were perfect, but maybe their example should be followed.

should anyone question why we have separation of church and state, it's because of this video.
His focus was not on our country, but in pointing out the un-american fact that there is a reference to god in our pledge. So he then fucked up, anyone seen other countries ruled by religious leaders (Iran, Saudi Arabia to name a few) if anyone believes that we want to be like them, keep working at defying the bill of rights set by our forefathers.Let me keep my guns, and keep religion out of my gov!

I believe it is something like 90% of Americans believe is some form of a god. That is the majority. I am tired of the minority always getting special treatment. How about you?

So you find it easy to make fun of peopler who have faith in something. I have faith in God as well as faith in myself. I think our forfathers found faith to be a good thing and promoted faith in freedom, liberty and justice for all. Is having faith such a bad thing?

it's the easiest thing in the world. the material writes itself.
our, ahem, FOREfathers, weren't religious men. as we know religious. deists, skeptics, agnostics. they knew enough to draw a line between our government and churches.
faith is believing what you know ain't so.

I have no problem with my fellow liberals claiming a republican is hypocritical for not following their beliefs - I have no problem with you pointing out their lack of morals in the face of their claim of being faithful... but we have freedom of religion - and Democrats are religious too - and I respectfully disagree. You can say what you wish - it's your right.. but to say you know there is no God is just as foolish or more so.

Neither can I - which is why profound things had to happen to me.. and after 25 years of being an atheist - I now believe. You can believe what you want - I believe what I do.. I'm a Democrat - and this is a Democracy.. and that right - as well as speech is protected.. though you are honoring one - and disregarding the other.
