My grandfather has a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda he bought in 1974 with 23,000 miles on it it has just been restored to factory at the cost of 15,000 and values at 23,000
I was thinking the same thing, "if I ever win the lottery..." I wouldn't want a original because the first day of having it I'd melt the tires off it destroy the clutch and rear end and possibly blow the engine. There would be so much smoke you'd think there was a forest fire. Can't have that much fun in a original.
"Conversion to a shaker"? So this car is *not* an original car and is not worth as much as it would have been had it been left alone. Interesting. Makes one wonder what *else* might not be original with this car?
i bet $10:00 that car is still on the showroom floor. with this economy, it'll be there for a few more years... gas is now 3:67 a gallon in california.
@130starfish What are you worrying about? Over here in Europe we are paying about $8.00 per US gallon. You don't know how good you've got it... Still, if I had a quarter of a million buck lying around I'd buy a hemi cuda and sod the fuel cost..
@spareparts007 you're paying 8.00 agallon because your governments taxes you to death.. to pay for all of your social support. Thats not our fault, you let your government take advantage over you. And you have to remember one very important thing that you Europeans always forget. America is a verybig very spreadout country, In California it's basically 250 mioes from one major metropolitan area to another, we have no rail system because the terrain is so mixed. gas has to b cheap
@130starfish Low taxes don't seem to really be helping the US right now. Some of us Europeans actually travel and know the US is a big mostly empty place. Over here we mostly have daily drivers that give us 40 or 50 to the gallon now. I have a 170hp diesel Golf that averages 52 MPG or about 42 US mpg. Drive something frugal and keep the V8 fun for the weekends if you find $3.80 too steep. Cheap gas has lead to massive consumption in the US. 25% of world demand for 5% of the population.
Nice car! Hope you discovered the name of the color. It's not Sassy Grass Green. The GY3 paint color was offered only on 1971 cars-A,B or E. Plymouth called it "Curious Yellow" and Dodge "Citroen Yella". It has lime metallic flake in the paint. It glow lime at night under mercury vapor street lights. I have a 71 Chall. R/T sunroof car in this color. It has white stripes, top & int. Super cool at night! The first 40 '71 Cudas were all painted GY3. There were maybe 600 E-bodies painted this color!
first off i envy you. second whats up with the dash bagde it says barracuda not cuda ? that would drive me nutts. not a real cuda ? third i will trade you a 92 silverado for any muscle car in like 50 yrs it will be worth its wieght in tin do we got a deal ? but in all seriousness this is my dream car glad to see one in its prime shape
absolutly amazing. she is absolutly amazing!, straight off the show room floor!. the mopar console. oh and that sound!!! the owner is going to be very happy. very nice car
You should not even think about sending this car out of the country. There are somethings that are more important in this life than getting top dollar. Think about it!
The thing about singapore is that the bulk of our taxes are based on the engine's displacement. like for example, a ferrari 430's road tax annually is roughly USD$3200 for 10 yeras. after that it's a 10% surcharge for every additional year. plus the insurance annually is USD$10000. oh and the best bit is the price, brand new with basic options one would be looking at $USD415,000. so a big engine like the HEMI would be very-very expensive here in Singapore.
i gotta say that i love your videos. where i come from, singapore to be exact, we do not get any american muscle cars at all. well apart from the Chrysler 300C HEMI though. plus if we did, the taxes would be too high to keep. anyway just wana say keep it up and hope to see more from you guys.
When you build a reproduction, some parts are reproduced, hence the "reproduction". Painted fender bolts cost way more than plated, so no corners cut there. All steel body, nicely done, not going to a concours show to be judged on authenticity, just on quality. Thanks for looking.

When I was in school, all the guys wanted those ricers, I drove a muscle car and got much more attention, so I loved rubbing it in their faces.

... 440 doesnt compare to a hemi

It actually does. They made much better street engines and were only slower by I think 1/10 of a second.

Perhaps you should check if vintage cars are tax exempt or taxed at a reduced rate in your country. You might be surprised.
