Instead of giving the douche bag air time and portraying him as a 'doting father' the way CNN and MessNBC does, Smith called him out and the loser couldn't handle it. Lindsay herself has a freakin' restraining order against him as does his longtime ex-girlfriend. He is a former drug addict and convicted felon and is now trying to 'cash in' on his daughter's troubles. Does he genuinely care and want to rekindle their relationship? Probably, but doing in the media isn't the way.

Good for Shep = he doesn't tiptoe on eggshells or beat around the bush - he is certainly not afraid of confrontation. Michael Lohan is an attention-seeker just like his daughter. His response was overly defensive, making him look even more guilty. Guilty of what? Bad parenting. And he kept bashing the mother - how is this helpful to Lindsay? This guy comes off as a total clown. He's right to say that people in the media shouldn't judge him and what he does for his daughter, but whose fault is that? He obviously did something wrong in how he raised his daughter, and now she's a coke addict, probably worse, doing crazy shit that she shouldn't even be dealing with. Just before this video begins, Shep Smith showed an image of Michael Lohan sitting in a restaurant. At the moment the photo was taken, Michael Lohan was smiling. Shep uses this photo in an attempt to undermine Mr. Lohan's credibility as a father.
Mr. Lohan, clearly fed up with these sorts of media tricks, gives Shep a piece of his mind. Sorry, Shep... you've had this coming for awhile. Good to see somebody stand up to you.

That little ploy, "Alot of people are saying..." is a classic rhetorical trick (do a Wikipedia search for Weasel Words). It seems, in Shep's world, everything is "simple" and "obvious" and if you don't agree, you get mocked (ie: "How does it feel to be standing up for BP?") Mr. Lohan may be a jerk, but he stopped Shep in his tracks.
