  • Sir you are just awesome.Thank you for this video.

  • @milanking15 Thanks, glad you liked it ;-)

  • I use a Republic Tricone Resonator and love it.

  • Was the slide part done in standard tuning?

  • @alphasxsignal No, it's tuned like this, from lowest to highest string: D A D F# A D

  • sir, that's the -most- homage I have ever witnessed! Thanks so much. You did them proud!

  • @Mr25thfret Thank you, I appreciate that :-)

  • Awesome!!!

  • These four videos has to be one of the best things made since strings in a stick! Educational, great music and well played. Imitate these songs, technique and characteristic isn't done by a day. Well done!

  • @Foobuba Thanks again!

  • This is simply marvelous: a public service. Thank you for remembering who dug the well: Robert Johnson, Charlie Christian, Danny Cedrone. I wish you had Scotty Moore in there as well. The Sun Studio musicians - most importantly, Scotty and Bill Black - were seminal in creating the vocabulary of rock 'n' roll.

  • @thelex001 Thanks, I appreciate that! I was actually planning to have Scotty Moore in there too, but somehow he fell out during the process, sorry..

  • this is verrrry cool and educational, and you have a great concept of fidelty when playing these tunes and deciding what guitar/effects to use. oh yea.... F***ing awesome playing. I would love if you could check out some of my videos :)

  • this is verrrry cool and educational, and you have a great concept of fidelty when playing these tunes and deciding what guitar/effects to use.

  • @HoboCabbage Thanks!

  • Nice Charlie Christian solo. Nice Chuck Berry. Killin Rock Around The Clock solo.

I LIKE HOW ITS NOT POP.

  • jimi page actually used the tele on stairway to heaven...good job on evolution of rock! clap clap clap!!!

  • @pinoyblues Thanks!

  • @rednebb Nice Charlie Christian. Nice Chuck Berry. KILLIN Rock Around The Clock solo.

I LIKE HOW IT'S NOT POP.

  • I like the Brian May signature in the background.

  • @danfretland

How weird-How would he fit all those players into a , what 10 minute video? I would truly like to see your video on this. Great guitar player does a great job and you boo hoo it-spare me. I have been playing for 35 years-I can play big time-But I also appreciate other players-You sound very jealous to me.

Please post it. Your video I mean.

  • @danfretland If you read the full video description you will see that's exactly what I've done.. I don't claim this to be the complete "Bible" of rock guitar or anything.. ;-)

  • @danfretland Yes, I know, but please watch my newer (R)evolution of Rock Guitar video series (in 4 parts), I've included a few of those you're mentioning there. And this is a presentation of Rock guitar, not Jazz guitar, so that automatically excludes the jazz guitarists you mention. And of course it's impossible to include all the history's many great guitarists in such a relatively short representation, I have to make a selection based on my preferences and opinions, like you say.

  • I Beg to differ on the whole distorted thing. Go look up 'Johnny Burnette Rock n Roll Trio'. It's widely held that 'honey hush' and train kept a rolling' used the first true distorted guitar, almost a decade prior to the stones. Not to mention that you completely left out LINK freakin Ray?

  • @w4wxp I know that Keith Richards wasn't the first guitarist to use distortion, but the Maestro Fuzz-tone was the first commercially available fuzz/distortion pedal, and Satisfaction was probably the first known recording using that unit, so therefore it's significant. And sorry I left out Link Wray (with a W..)

  • @rednebb Yeah, sorry about the type-o, lol. I just think that 'Rumble' really changed the landscape of music, with that ultra thick (for the time) power chord/Distortion combo. Hell, even compared to songs today it still is a super dark, 'in your face' sorta song.

  • @w4wxp Yeah, I agree, if I ever make a new version of "Evolution of rock guitar", I will probably include him..

  • Do you speak English Ketil? I would like to see a fyll song on your Eastwood Savannah-there is not much on that guitar online and i really like it what's you opinion

  • @1satisfiedmind Yes, I speak english.. I love my Eastwood Savannah, and maybe I'll do a full song with it later

  • what wah pedal were you using? and where abouts in your effects chain? it sounds amazing! need some tips! thx :)

  • @MrWoodoop Boss PW-10 V-Wah, placed first after the guitar. The PW-10 has many different wah settings, I don't remember exactly which one I used..

  • man, how many guitars do you have??:D

  • @davidiancu A lot. ;-)

  • awesome videos man!

  • Great! I hope there will be part 3 soon! But, as my english is not very good, the subtitles should last longer :-)

  • Thanks, I've just uploaded parts 3 and 4.. Sorry about the subtitles, I thought they were long enough.. But you could of course just pause the video during the subtitles so you get enough time to read them.

i hope you are having more fun than it seems you are .. maybe not when making the video ('cus i know it requires attention to numerous simultaneous details), then at leas when you are playing 'just for fun'

    cheers,

    t4d

  • Thank you very much! Yes, I'm having great fun, but this is just the way I look when I play; very concentrated and maybe not very happy, sorry.. But I'm normally a very happy person ;-)

  • I have the same thing, i look cranky when i play ^^

But damn, cant wait for part 3, you really have some classics there, and its giving me ideas of what to learn! (Every guitrarist should know AT LEAST the intro to stairway, right? xD)

  • Thanks!

  • You, sir, are MY guitar hero! You played each sample very well. I can see you know a thing or two about guitars.

  • amazing video! well done!

  • Like always, Ketil Strand is amazing!

  • eeeeee cool :DDD i love it man and you have a lot of guitars i only 2 :/

  • Awesome!

  • Steikande bra, Ketil!! Ser frem til fortsettelsen. Btw, hvorfor ingen Les Paul?

It's called G.A.S.

  • He, he, skjønner hva du mener.

  • ;-)

  • wow fedt!

  • This is great!!! The visual Wikipedia of Guitar!!!

    Amazing!!!

    Cheers

  • Hehe.. Thanks!

  • Takker ;-)

  • Génial!

  • gj.

  • I like it! I like it alot!

  • great tone, nice light crunch at 4:47, 5:34 very "stratty" sound, 6:08 amazing thick wah sound, 7:07 amazing tone, 8:45-end amazing tone on the tele

  • Thanks! And thanks to Native Instruments "Guitar Combos"..

  • amazing man

  • Great!!!

  • Really cool.
