I also have that problem on my Hero. Upgrading to newest firmware didnt fix the problem. It seems problem is caused by data transfering. Problem doesnt show up every time, but when it occures, my phone is usually connected to EDGE-network with full singnal strenght.
Your phone was connected to GPRS-network, but it seems that your problem is caused by data transfer aswell. Whenever your display is moving on video, you can see those small arrows glowing to show datatransfering.
Alright, I downloaded and installed the latest ROM (2.73.405.5) and it seems to have fixed the issue so I guess that it wasn't a hardware fault after all. Phew!
If you have an HTC Hero then I would SERIOUSLY recommend that you make the update. It's brilliant!
Thanks for the comments guys. I'll try a hard restart this afternoon and let you know how it turns out. I emailed HTC UK Support and they told me that the updated ROM was due for release "in the next week or so" so hopefully if the reset doesn't fix it the update will!
